Advantages: Great to see the stars and Hollywood sign Disadvantages: Only need a fewdays, not safe at night
On my recent round the world trip LA was my first destination, I have always wanted to go to LA and walk down the star studded Hollywood Walk of Fame and this was my perfect opportunity! I spent a week in LA although I would say that is probably too long, you only really need a few days to see the main attractions and it is a good place to visit as part of a road trip in the USA, maybe adding a stop or two in Vegas or San Francisco as well. Being ... ...the Hollywood Boulevard but accommodation is available for all budgets. I was told that unless you have a car it is very hard to get around LA but I have to say thanks to the helpful staff at our hostel we managed just fine by public transport. Trains and buses run daily and are cheap and easy to use as long as you know where you are headed. The main attractions in Hollywood are:
Universal Studios (which I have already reviewed in great detail) ...

LOS ANGELES
This op is more of an account of the areas of LA that I visited during my recent holiday there. I also spent the consecutive week in San Francisco but that will have to be another op!
~ GENERAL INFO
As you may, may not be aware Los Angeles (“City of Angels”) is America’s second (to New York) largest city with a population of around 16 million people. Hence why my 1-week visit only covered a small part of this huge urban sprawl.
The ... ...for many other racial communities. Los Angeles was originally a settlement founded by Mexicans in the 18th century (I think).
Like most large cities LA is divided up into areas, here are a few:
· Downtown – the business district, a whole lot a skyscrapers.
· Hollywood – as you know this is where you will find all the movie studios.
· Beverly Hills / Bel Air – These places are near to Hollywood.
· Orange County – this is on the east side of LA ...

...in the hills between Glendale, Los Feliz and Downtown LA). The names of the places in L.A are just so pretty (Ventura, Topanga, Lauryl Canyon, Arcadia etc) and evocative.
On my first trip, I just kinda lived the life and didn't do any of the tourist stuff like Disney or Universal studios (although I have since been and enjoyed it). I mostly spent my time driving around (I hired a white mustand convertable for next to nothing compared to an equivalent ... ...Ana etc just chilling out with friends and enjoying the beautiful climate.
Personally, I love the place, I love the people and I like the madness of it all, it is a city on the edge. La La Land. You taste so many diferent flavours of culture just going from one block to the next. My favourite haunts both then and now are Dublins on Sunset Blvd and Miyagis over the road although there are quite a few shady joints round Hollywood Blvd that I got to ...

Advantages: It's great. Weather is hot. Disadvantages: Smog, quakes, crime - but not if you take your brain with you!
...And that's the thing with Los Angeles - it does match up to the stereotypes people have of it. However there is so much more to this vibrant sprawl of suburbia. Los Angeles doesn't have a city centre. The first time I landed there, I had this wonderfully quaint British idea to hunt down a 'high street'. There are about five hundred 'high streets' not by name, but merely by the array of shops. Turn off them, and you'll soon find yourself in a nondescript ... ...those. CONCLUSION Los Angeles is my home from homes. It's an eclectic, vibrant city, where people are always welcoming to me. The weather is wonderful. I've never spent a dull moment there - and if you chance upon a dull moment, do visit the City of Angels, and make your own opinion. I’d be happy to hear from you if you want any advice or tips or whatever on the city so come sniff me out on Dooyou or here on Ciao and I'll be honoured to help. ...

Advantages: Didn't stay long enough to find out... Disadvantages: Intimidating for first time visitors.
...We emerged into a pastel Los Angeles morning. We were the only people out walking on the streets. The only other people who go by foot in LA are other Europeans and the joggers. It's an incredibly vain city - every other shop is a gym or tanning parlour. Our trip round a fashion mall left us miserable. These shiny LA types all seemed to have extra money to blow on designer goods, while we could barely afford a pair of socks. This made us feel like ... ...wasn't. It was just like London with palm trees. The next morning, after a great breakfast in a Happy Days-style diner, we duelled our way out of LA and out across the desert towards Vegas. Some people love Los Angeles, but I'll avoid it if I possibly can... ...

Advantages: Amazingly vibrant and multi cultural Disadvantages: The freeways can be a bit daunting
...The City Of Angels - Los Angeles. This vibrant city has something to offer everyone, but beware, day becomes night, night becomes day and sleep becomes a thing of the past. We stayed at a Comfort Inn in Hermosa Beach during our time in LA, this was about a 1/2 hour drive away from the touristic centre, which includes such great sites as Mann's Chinese Theater (the place with the handprints in the concrete), Macy's, Bloomingdales and a whole lot more. ... ...a tourist do not underestimate the acclimatisation that a guided tour around the stars homes can do - it really is quite interesting, and it gives you a good layout of the roads for when you jump into your hire car. This leads nicely onto driving in LA, or any big American city for that matter, rule of thumb - DON'T BE AFRAID. Americans are quite aggressive drivers, and you get nowhere by being nice. Don't go stupid, but remember to push your way ...

This summer I went to Los Angeles for the 3rd time and I'm still enjoying it. We flew from manchester to Chicago then 2 days later we flew on to LAX. We know some friends there, so thats why we visit so much. We stayed in Orange county at a hotel called the Double Tree. This hotel was excellent service and quality. Whilst we where staying there, the Miss Juinor America competition was being held there as well. We also so, a wrestler, a basketball ...

Advantages: Lots of places to visit Disadvantages: people
If you go to LA for the first time you will probably think it is great but daunting at the same time as I did. It has the best art museums you will find, but the people are very vain and arrogant, similar to people from New York. Arriving at LA International Airport called LAX, you can pick up free 24 hr shuttle buses which link you to local buses.Finding a place to stay in LA is the hard part if you are looking for a bargain! I sayed at the City ... ...lot but is cheap in LA. Places to see are obvious; Bunker Hill, Broadway, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, The J Paul Getty Museum which is free from tues -sun and Anaheim-Disneyland which costs $33 but includes all the rides, but the queue's are terrible esp for the Indiana Jones Adventure. ...

Advantages: none Disadvantages: Dangerous place to visit
It was my first time to LA and we arrived late in the evening from Chicago. My impression of LAX from the movies seem to be a well organised airport but once reaching there, I found it to be in chaos. The signboards doesn't helps in directing first time travellers like us. Furthermore, when we got our luggages, we were met by an impolite and angry looking luggage controller who demanded to see our luggage passes. Then, we have to wander around the ... ...the car hire. It took us quite some time to find it. Also, the airport gives you a sense of dogginess. You will feel unsafe. I experience the same thing on our way back to Chicago, there was no clear indications in LA on how you can take a bus to the airport. We only found it after asking around in the bus station. Clearly something has to be done to improve the quality of this airport. ...

LA is one of the best places i've ever been to. Being young at heart, I enjoyed the pleasures of disneyland in Anaheim as well as the other tourist attractions in the city. We resided in the not-too-expensive Holiday Inn, situated in the heart of the city and around the corner from Mann's Chinese theatre. One night when my family and I had nothing planned and there was a movie premiere going on, we headed right around the corner, split up and waved, ... ...just wandering around. Aside from Universal Studios, which is fun, I just loved the Jurasic Park ride, it is possible to access other studios, such as Paramount (if you're a Frasier fan) and for ER or Friends fans, there's the Warner Brothers studios, both of which hold tours, well worth seeing.
This is also a great city for shopping, with all the latest gizmos like rollerblades or more recently if you like, scooters, an american city can offer, ...

Opening.
I was lucky enough to experience one of the most breathtaking cities in the world! I travelled to LA over 3-4 years ago, so things may have changed by then but I'm going to write about my view, about 4 years ago. I went with my mum, brother and 2 other relatives. We stayed with some friends of ours which was a real fun spoiler as I really wanted to stay at a hotel as I've heard their hotels are superb! Anyway we stayed around 5 days (very ... ...felt like forever. We enjoyed ourselves as much as possible. We treated everyday as the last.
My 1st day there.
I bear in mind the first few hours we had arrived at LA, after unpacking and taking a short break, we were all dying to go to the near by beach, that was around 10-15 minutes away. We were lucky enough that we had arrived in LA at daytime, which meant that it was sunny, which meant that we could go to the beach! Soon we were making sandcastles ...

Advantages: Lots of things to see and do, the tours are very good if you like that sort of thing Disadvantages: not much to do on a night which made me feel safe
I holidayed in Los Angeles for xmas and new year 2007, I stayed in a holiday inn on hollywood bulivard. The Holiday inn was about 10 minutes walk from where the walk of fame is. I must admit it wasnt what i expected, the main tourist areas around the Chinese Theatre and the walk of fame is very dirty and there are rows of adult shops around this area.
This was always a place i have wished to visit, and although i went only for a week i do wish i ... ...everything i wanted to see. I really enjoyed doing the trips which showed you celebritys houses and takes you to beverley hills.
Taking a look at the shops on rodeo drive is a must, especially to see where pretty woman was filmed. When we went in December the weather wasnt great, although through the day it was pretty warm sometimes but not so that we coould sit on the beach. The local beach to us was santa monica, and i have to admit this is a ...

Advantages: AMAZING place!!! Disadvantages: NOOO disadvantages what so ever!!!--Except that it's expensive!
L.A is probably one of the finest places I have been to. I went there quite a long time ago in 2001 (I think???) I went there with my mother, my brother, my mothers closest friend and her son which is also my brothers closest friend, Confusing, huh? (I was the only one without a friend there...:(...Oh well, I stuck to my bro & his friend!!!)
Anyways-to the point- the journey there was by plane and god it took soooooo long-Approximately 12 hours!!! ... ...remember much but one of my unforgettable memory was that the first thing we all done when arriving there- obviously apart from getting to our hotel room and unpacking- was going to the downstairs swimming pool we had in the hotel we were staying in and jumping in with our clothes on!!!... It was such an incredible feeling and such an unbelievable moment…that I would love to relive again and again! The pool was remarkably outstanding and I was gobsmacked ...
