I have the misfortune to be pretty dependent on public transport in the city. I don’t have the use of a car, and even if I did, I wouldn’t be inclined to even attempt to use it during the Edinburgh rush hour. Unless it was big, maroon in colour, covered in adverts, and could ... ...lot of buses. Lothian buses have a vast network: really, mammoth amounts of routes that you are never likely to want to take. But it does make for a pretty comprehensive service – basically there’s nowhere in Edinburgh you can’t get to by bus, whether its the zoo, the airport, or even Morningside where ShoppingGirl lives (posh wave). I’m still amazed by how easy it all is, even though it was 3 years ago that I gave up living in the wilds of Scotland ...

So come to Edinburgh and marvel first hand at our couture-inspired buses. In fact, bring some loose change with you and the city is yours for the taking. You’ve got more chance of hitching a ride home on Shergar than you have of getting a cab in Edinburgh at the weekend, but never fear – the night bus is here. All the main arterial routes out of town are served by an hourly bus, departing from Princes Street ...

...through the city centre*
Lothian Buses, Edinburgh's largest bus company has a fleet of over 550 buses, running over 80 different services in and around Edinburgh.
People who use public transport are forever moaning about it. I thought I should turn this around in my opinion and just say how good a service I feel Lothian buses provide.
The company had put in millions of pounds of investment in recent years. Investing in timetables at all its bus ... ...9.30am (£2.20 before 9.30am).
Lothian Buses operate a strict No-Smoking policy, with fines of upto £400 for those who ignore the regulations. I must commend the company in the high standard of service they continue to provide despite the recent serious problem of stone attacks on their buses in certain parts of the city. Some £160,000 is spent monthly on glass. This has no detered them from provinding a quality service - working closely with the ...

The Buses
The buses themselves all look new - I didn't see a scruffy one during the whole of my fortnight's stay in Edinburgh! The buses were clean and even the seats were all comfortable!
They all have CCTV on board to deter anti social behaviour and I didn't see any signs of it so maybe that's working. I don't know how long it has been in operation so I can't make ... ...day's unlimited travel on all Lothian buses.
There are ticket machines near some of the bus stops so you can purchase your ticket before you board the bus.
A night ticket will cost you £2.50 for all night travel after midnight and the buses are at least hourly even at night. It sounds like a good way to help cut back on drink driving incidents and it is certainly a lot cheaper than a taxi!
There is also something called Ridacard which are longer ...

Quick review of Lothian Buses (LRT)
Lothian buses vary almost as much as the routes that they supply. Generally they are clean and punctual, but a few of them are fairly manky, smelly and horribly late (or non-existant).
They serve most areas of Edinburgh but are really designed for people to get from A to town then from town to B rather than direct A to B.
They have been slowly pushing up the prices:
Child: 60p
Young Person: 65p
Adult: £1 ...

Advantages: good service Disadvantages: sometimes miss buses out
Lothian buses are a good service. There are lots of different routes done by the buses and they have lots of stops everywhere. They are updating buses to make seats comfier for passengers recently. The buses will run rain or shine, even if they break down you can guarantee there will be someone there to help you. The one complaint I have to make is that soemtimes in bad weather you can wait up to 20 minutes for a bus if they miss one out or if they're ...

Hi like many others I'm sure you must be concerned about the amount of LRT busses that are jumping red lights, only this morning 17/11/08 at 6.58 my car was almost hit by a LRT bus turning right from the bridges into the Royal mile whilst running a red light. I don't know the calibre of driver they are now employing, but I'm glad to say im not one of them. Your going down hill LRT ...

Avoid at all costs during festival time!
Appauling at this time,I waited for over 45 minutes for a bus that never showed up, and another time it was delayed for over half an hour, i called the main office they said 'its festival time, expect delays' and hung up!
Bus drivers are also very rude, one time i asked if it was heading to a certain place he replied 'can you not read?'
On a positive note, there are many many buses, they are quite frequent however do expect delays during the festival time ...

...me why I usually travel Lothian Buses. I got on the First Bus because I was running late for work owing to sleeping in otherwise I'd have used my Lothian buspass. The driver of the First Bus was rude and unhelpful and the bus stank. This is not something I've ever encountered with Lothian Buses. The first one is that they no longer run the number 5 up to Colinton. I would really like to see them reinstate the number 5 up in Colinton as at present there is no direct link between Colinton and the Southside of the City. The second is that they have recently withdrawn all night services to Musselburgh during the week, meaning if I ...

I have to say that there are more LRT buses than First Group but I have found that the LRT drivers are the surliest and least helpful.
My friend and I no longer rush to get on a bus which is already

Sorry Since i cant get into lrt without downloading Rubbish I'm using this as a way to complain about ONE DRIVER.
