Advantages: Very cheap, quick and efficient
Disadvantages: Having to travel through Heathrow!

Last month I traveled with Lufthansa from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh ( Saigon ) and as its been a long time since my last review of anything, I thought I would share my thoughts on them. I flew with Lufthansa from London to Singapore (via Frankfurt) last year. For long haul journeys, it fared brilliantly. Pros: (1) Reasonable, affordable air fares (£393 return + £37.80 taxes) during October (2) Excellent services (drinks served almost every hour) I felt sick on the return leg and was offered some help. Disadvantages: Rude abrupt staff who seem to think that Hitler was right and Germans are the master race

I have personally two experiences of Lufthansa. The first was my outbound business class flight to Frankfurt just before Christmas '99. I was surprised at the rudeness of the air stewards to anyone not German, despite my effort to greet and answer them in their native tongue. ...recently used the services of Lufthansa Airlines, I travelled from Manchester to Frankfurt, Germany, Transfered in Frankfurt and the second leg of the Journey Frankfurt to Prague, Czech Republic. Firstly i chose this service and route due to lower costs, it was a social trip so time was not of the essence, Practically half the Price of a Direct Flight from Manchester to Prague, which was good on the pocket, more beer money. Disadvantages: flight attendants' bad attitude

...are quite high. However, now Lufthansa is member of the Starfleet and works together with SAS, among other airlines, which results in the occasional less expensive ticket. I flew only a short distance with them, Berlin - Kopenhagen. The plane was spotless, which is really something one appreciates when locked up into a plane for any length of time, no matter how short. Disadvantages: nothing really worth mentioning

Any review of Lufthansa has to start with a comment about the seats on the aircraft; they are simply superb. I flew from Manchester to Leipzig, connecting in Frankfurt, and even on this relatively short flight the seats were easily the most comfortable I have had the pleasure to sit in on an aircraft - well padded and supportive in the right places, though the grey/yellow colour scheme belonged more in the late 1980's than today. ... However I cannot say that Lufthansa is very caring and compassionate. My mother became very ill and I should return earlier from Detroit than expected. When asking to change the return date of my ticket, it took me two days and several phone calls and faxes to find out that, although my ticket was quite expensive, there is not possibility to change my return date. Advantages: Quick Flight, Easy check in, Pleasant staff
Disadvantages: Poor Food

...spending over 3 hours on Lufthansa planes. I found the checking in process to be a doddle although another desk being open would have made it a quicker passage. Also the fact you could check in 1 hour beforehand meant i didn't have to be waiting around the airport for too long either unlike with some other airlines that make you get there in excess of 2 hours before hand. OK, to make things clear: Lufthansa never did impress me much before but I changed my mind: I was travelling with them from Helsinki to Munich last year. On the way up I flew SAS where I had to pay for my drinks/food. When I arrived at the airport there was a very long que at the check-in counters but with a Lufthansa e-ticket and their card we could check in at the SAS self check-in machine and were done within 5 minutes.
