Advantages Advantages Vast range of stores

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some duplicate stores

This Review is for the Centre M.K which is a huge shopping centre in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. The shopping centre is managed in two parts, the first being the Centre MK and the second a place named Midsummer Place. The actual opening date for the shopping centre was September 25th 1979 and has over 260 stores inside. This might have changed quite a lot since the current recession and stores shutting down. This will be an insight to what the centre has to offer and what you can find there. Opening Hours Monday - Wednesday 09:30am -- 06:00pm Thursday - Friday 09:30am -- 08:00pm Saturday ... more

Advantages Advantages All undercover and easy to navigate.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Plan ahead if you need the toilet!

Unlike a lot of women I am really not that keen on shopping. I like to go every now and again and have a really good shop; I do not like popping to the shops every week like a lot of my friends. For this reason when I do decide a serious dose of retail therapy is required I like to go somewhere where I will have lots of choice and that I can be pretty sure will yield everything I need. I actually live between Oxford and Aylesbury, I rarely shop in Oxford as I have to use a bus because of extortionate parking and it is always too busy. Aylesbury is ok but the selection of shops is small. This ... more

Milton Keynes has been the butt of many jokes but as it grows and matures into its new city status it may be time for a reappraisal. Of particular interest here is the shopping centre, after all in this category it could hardly be otherwise. Milton Keynes is unusual in that from the outset the town centre was designed to be entirely under cover. The result of this is that we basically have an out of town shopping centre in the centre of the town! The centre has recently been extended and the existing areas have been recently refurbished. Layout ~~~~ The centre comprises two parallel malls on a ... more

Like almost any normal, healthy young female, I was looking forward to the chance to do some shopping during a trip to Milton Keynes at the very start of this year. I had with me a native of the area who I assumed would be some help with this, but that’s where I was wrong. You see, he was a he, and being the type of he that he is, although he knew where the electrical and sports shops were, he knew not where anything I needed was. (BTW, anyone think I deserve a prize for getting all those “he”s in one sentence???) Anyway, on with the op. We went to The Centre in Milton Keynes ... more

Advantages Advantages Massive, Shops galore, Fun!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gets Busy, Poor parking facilities, poor transport around mk

--------------Marc Yerrells opinion on CMK Shopping centre---------------- Milton Keynes has got its bad points: Terrible public transport, loads of roundabouts, concrete cows etc, but on the other hand, it has it's good points, the main one being the centre: MK. I have lived in Milton Keynes all my life, and there is nothing like a trip up to the shops to blow your money. If that sounds like you, Come to the centre: MK. WHY? Becuase the centre MK is massive. So massive, you can even find it in the book of records! The are loads and loads of shops. You have your major retailers, like ... more

Advantages Advantages Huge Selection, Disabled Facilities, Great Experience

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gets Very Busy, Parking Bad

Me and my family moved to Milton Keynes to escape the cluttered and increasingly violent world of South East London and I have to say it is the best move we have ever made. Great school's, Cheap Housing (On the rise now), Less congestion, Less Crime and of course let's not forget Milton Keynes Shopping centre. Let's face it we all love to shop especially when treating ourselves and the great thing about Milton Keynes is wherever you live in Milton Keynes you are only ever 15 minutes from one of the best shopping centers in the country if not the best. LOOK AND DESIGN The centre itself is 1.79 ... more

Advantages Advantages Good selection of shops - easy to get to

Disadvantages Disadvantages Weekends are mobbed, cyclists, skateboarders

If you live in Northampton and have to suffer shopping there, a trip to Milton Keynes can be a treat. However I can only recommend a trip during the week, as the weekends are suffocatingly busy. Everybody talks about the dreaded Milton Keynes roundabouts and how Americanised the streets and street-names are, but actually the road signs at all these roundabouts are helpful, and you cannot miss the shopping centre. The main shops are signed from as far back as the M1 and there is even a free park and ride although I have not used this so cannot comment. I would certainly suggest using this ... more

Advantages Advantages Many many stores under one roof.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get very crowded and stressed.

Now known as The Centre MK, this very modern shopping centre is located in the very heart of Milton Keynes, and in the past year a large extension was also opened. Much like the city in which it resides, The Centre MK is sprawling and evolving! The original centre is a very large rectangular shaped building with two main walkways spanning I would estimate at least a mile. It certainly feels longer though as you trawl up and down, especially on a busy weekend! The newly opened extension I mentioned was built at a right angle to the existing centre, and is much more airy and spacious, as the ... more

Advantages Advantages Huge number of shops.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Huge number of shops.

I have read the other (beautifully written and informative) ops on Milton Keynes Shopping Centre - and I think there must be something wrong with me. I can't stand the place. I live in nearby Buckingham and probably venture into Milton Keynes once every couple of months - less if I can possibly avoid it. The drive into Milton Keynes is uninspiring. Roundabout after roundabout begins the illusion of being on a treadmill. Parking is not too bad, easily available (less so at weekends) and not too badly priced. But then we are faced with the shops. Shopping in Milton Keynes hurts. The floors are ... more

Advantages Advantages SUITABLE FOR THE DISABLED VISITOR/UNDER ONE ROOF

Disadvantages Disadvantages CAN GET VERY BUSY ESPECIALLY AT CHRISTMAS

As a resident in Milton Keynes I visit the Centre MK on a regular basis, and thought I would update you on what's happening. Firstly the Centre MK is all on one level, which makes it easier for wheelchair users and mums with buggies to get around. The Centre is split into 4 main shopping areas and 2 leisure areas: The original part which is about 1/2 a mile long with two main walk ways either side with Marks and Spencer one end and John Lewis the other. A large square area near to John Lewis called Middleton Hall is where the Christmas displays & exhibitions take place. The Christmas display ... more
