Touch-A-Touch-A-Touch-A-Touch-Me

Advantages: 'meet & touch' celebrities
Disadvantages: expensive, small, crowded, not enough to see

I first encountered Madame Tussauds Waxwork in London when I was working as a tourist guide many moons ago and had the good fortune (or rather misfortune) to take groups of tourists to this attraction. It's fun the first couple of times but then you start to resent the place with a passion. Luckily the job only lasted a few years but it left me with a bitter taste in my mouth regarding this particular London attraction and no desire to ever set foot ...
...it up in town at Madame Tussauds Waxwork, mainly because they were the only ones who'd forgotten to up the price for the pass unlike all the other sites. I got the pass £5.00 cheaper - £80 instead of the £85 it normally is - by buying online and picking up at Madame Tussauds. And as I was there anyway I decided to have a look how things had changed over the past 10 or 15 years (or more) since I last bothered to go. I went a second time only a few ...

...decided that a trip to Madame Tussauds was in order. It had proved to be a day where we couldn’t decide what to do. Having been at the Dungeons earlier in the day we were going to go to The Millennium Eye. Due to a low cloud covering over London we decided it’d be a waste of money so we headed for Madame Tussauds instead. As it comes included in my Theme Park annual pass was just a bonus. If you’ve not heard of Madame Tussauds it’s a large museum ...
...also features an exhibit of Madame Tussaud and a little bit of history on her as well. All in all this whole floor is probably the most interesting part of the tour, just don’t bother with the Chamber. It’s then time to head back up stairs and in a similar principle to London Dungeons, Tussauds have a small ride for part of the museum. It consists of a continuous stream of cars all decked out to look like Black cabs, to take you round. Each car ...

Advantages: As it says in the title
Disadvantages: Getting caught and being asked to leave

...into the pockets of the Madame Taussauds group and so yesterday we headed off for the ankle biters first ever visit to the waxworks. I had vague memories of visiting the place many years ago with an American girlfriend who shouted with glee in best JAP (Jewish American Princess) fashion at all of the Royal Family wax works. For those who have been living under a rock Madame Taussauds wax works is one of the most visited London attractions and it ...

Getting There Taussauds is located a minutes walk from Baker Street underground station which can be reached by the no less than five lines, Circle, District, Metropolitan, Bakerloo and Jubilee which pretty much means that whatever tube station you start your journey from you will only have a maximum of one change of line to make. The nearest mainline station is Marylebone with Paddington a reasonable walk whilst a number of buses will also ...

...I visited the World famous Madame Tussauds which I have wanted to do for many years. Madame Tussauds is one of London's and indeed the country's leading attractions - did it live up to expectations or was it as fake as the dummies ? A brief history ...... In 1802 she brought her exhibition of waxworks to London for the first time and in 1835 opened a bazaar in Baker Street not far from its current location. Unfortunately she died in 1850 at the grand old age of 89 but her Grandson kept her work going and moved the waxworks to its current location in Marylbone Road in 1884. The Works had it's problems last century including being devastated by fire ...

Not so great meeting the Wax version of Celebs!

Advantages: Entertained me for a couple of hours
Disadvantages: Too many people and not worth the money. I wouldn't go back

Madame Tussauds On the way home from our honeymoon we stopped in London for a night and decided to go to Madame Tussauds after hearing lots about it. To get there you can go by train, tube or by bus, To get there by train make your way to Marlebone station and it ...

...'Madame Tussauds' along Marylebone Road. Madame Tussauds is a popular tourist attraction in London and I had never visited it. I was with my Dad and sisters and they too seemed quite interested in the attraction so we all visited... WHAT IS MADAME TUSSAUDS? ...a lot of history behind Madame Tussauds. She is an actual person that was born in the year 1761 in Stasburg, her name being Marie Grosholtz. She enjoyed art and designed wax portraits. She was however imprisoned with her mother during the French revolution. Marie made an exhibition of her wax portraits and then in 1795 Marie married Francios Tussaud. In 1802 Madame Tussaud took her exhibition on tour in the British Isles. Later on in 1850 she died ...

I FELT LINFORDS LUNCHBOX

Advantages: fun for all the family
Disadvantages: maybe a little expensive

...My all time favourite was Madame Tussards and I loved it so much the first time that I visited that I volunteered to assist on all trips there and therefor visited Tussards 5 times in one month!!! Madame Tussards is based on Baker Street just a small walk from Baker St tube station. The wax work images inside where so life like that I half expected Kylie to burst in to song or Tony Blair to start making a political speech! The best thing is that ...
...didn't know who he was!, Madame Tussards really is a great day out and there is even a section of the tour where you are shown how the models are made. I recentley went to the other wax works exhibition Louis Tussards in Blackpool. Somehow the models in this exhibition didn't seem half as good as the ones at the original London site. I think that the models within Madame Tussards and the Rock circus are definatley the best wax works. The beauty ...

Enjoyable but just too short

Advantages: Great photo opportuniies
Disadvantages: Expensive and smaller than expected

We arrived at the waxworks at about 10.45 in the morning - there was no queue so we were able to walk straight in. The queue when we left at about 12.00 was a different matter!! I would definately advise anyone planning a visit to Tussauds to either arrive early or purchase your tickets in advance through the internet, doing this yo are able to get in through a different entrance, thus jumping the queues. Upon passing through the entrance, we were ...
...jump because it was so lifelike!! As you enter further into the building, the first main room you will pass through is full of the stars of our screens and the voices on our stereos. I was very impressed with this room as the waxworks were arranged around the room in such positions that you were able to pose easily for photos -there were no railings or ropes - and the statues were not raised on platforms but placed on the floor. We had great fun ...

I thought he was real

Advantages: fascinating
Disadvantages: crowded but maybe not always

I went to Madame Tussauds one Bank Holiday last year. I actually visited London to go to the Zoo, but as that was dissapointing and it started to rain, decided to go to Madame Tussauds instead. Because it was a Bank Holiday (and raining) the queues were long right up the street and round the corner, so it is advisable to go maybe at a quieter time, but it was quite entertaining in the queue watching the world go by, and also there were samplers ...

Madame Tussauds and the Rest Of My London Trip

Advantages: good shopping, fun weekend, good attractions
Disadvantages: none

...I decided to go to Madame Tussaud's and by paying with the hostel I got a discount. I got the underground here which is easy to get around then arrived. It was a long queue but because I had paid for the tickets I went right in and that was it. It was excellent seeing famous people in such life like was work models, probably the nearest I will get to any of them. Some of the models speak and I got my picture taken with many. This is never too overcrowded ...
...I liked the way everything was set out in here by theme such as tv, there was then the royal family and then musicians so it was good to have everyone at their right part. The only thing is not many musicians are here because they are at the rock circus which again is more money. At night time the night life was mostly in Picaddily Circus so I ate out here at places like Planet Hollywood and The Rainforest Cafe. The food here is great and it was ...

...and seeing a few of Madame Tussauds prompted me to write this opinion. Unlike the other comments I have read about Madame Tussauds, I wasn't overly impressed. Maybe this was because it was the last trip I went on with my ex-boyfriend, and I was working out that day how best to finish with him? Anyway, Madame Tussauds was his idea - to me, it all seems a bit 'fake', I suppose being an historian, I am more interested in going to see some real history ...
...snob, but in my opinion, Madame Tussauds is aimed at foreign tourists and children, not the sort of place that students would be too interested in. Anyway, so what's it actually like there? Well, to start with, despite the fact we went out of season, there was a huge queue to get in. Here's a tip for you - to bypass the queue, visit the London Planetarium as well, this is next door to Madame Tussauds, has a much shorter queue, if any, and when you ...

Madame Tussauds is the one place where you can meet all the famous stars, poloticians, sings, and all the rest all under one roof!
