Advantages: Stunning scenery, lots to do Disadvantages: No any that I know
...but for the record , Majorca is a name visitors have given this absolutely beautiful Mediterranean island, the largest of the Balearic islands, 200 km south of Barcelona, off the east coast of Spain. Locals call it Mallorca, they live the Mallorcan lifestyle.
So now you know where it is, you really do need to know why you should go there. We were eagerly awaiting our first-ever cruise and the offer of a week-stay on Majorca, before that experience, ...

Advantages: Gastronomy, Catalan Culture, charming villages, quiet sophistication Disadvantages: over-abundance of english chavs in their Guantanamo-style enclaves
Mallorca: The road to the mountains.
Late last year (September 2005), my intrepid wife and I planned and executed a 3-Centre holiday in Mallorca: a favourite holiday destination of ours, despite my obvious intelligence, style and savoir-faire, and Mallorca's reputation as a Chavvite Centre of Self-Indulgence. Mallorca has something of an image problem even now, I believe, because of places like Magaluf and Palma Nova, Port d'Alcudia, etc., but ...

Advantages: Great touristic offer Disadvantages: If you live in, sometimes you feel like in a prison of 80 kms.
Hello!
I'd like to talk a few about the place where I live, Mallorca.
Mallorca is the biggest of the Balearic Islands; most of people come here finding sun and fun, maybe some of them relax (It's said that Menorca is better for that).
*** HOW TO GO? ***
Well, obviously plane is the most comfortable way to come to Mallorca. I'm not sure 'bout the offers there at the UK, but I'm pretty sure that you can find cheap flights at Easy Jet, or ...

Advantages: Too many points to mention. Disadvantages: Lager Louts and Ill disciplined Tourists.
I had always been put off from going to Mallorca, lumping it together with Benidorm and Aya Napa as places never to visit, but now I feel that it had been wasted years.
Spain to me had always meant the greener north or Seville, Toledo, Madrid and the historic cities of the south, staying as far away from the tourist traps of the Mediterranean coast as possible but earlier this year the possibility presented itself for a two week break at a very ...

Advantages: there's so much to see, beautiful landscape Disadvantages: none
Parties, Sangria and drunk people – no, this is definitely not all the beautiful island of Mallorca is about. I’m no specialist when it comes to the Baleares, but I have been there 3 x so far and I got to know a lot of different parts of the island that I would really like to share with all of you. I have also read a lot of books and learned about the mallorquin people, the nature and a lot more, so I hope this opinion is of some help for those of ...

...spent an enjoyable week in Majorca last year, myself and the other half decided to return again and experience some of the other sights that Majorca has to offer.
We arranged the holiday ourselves on line and as a result managed to make quite a saving on flights, hotel accomodation and car rental. Be warned that if you decide to book your holiday this way expect to spend some time trawling through the various travel websites the internet has to ...

Advantages: The beautiful scenery and restaurants Disadvantages: No clubs for people who like nightlife
When you come back from your holidays; looking brown, the first thing people ask is ‘Where have you been?’ First you are a bit apprehensive to tell anyone, you think ‘Mallorca is where everybody goes! It’s nothing special.’ And in 99% of cases this is what happens: You get lost for words, you start to um and ar and finally mutter something inaudible. By now your friends have got the hint and don’t ask anymore questions. ...

Advantages: Short flight, English widely spoken, beautiful beaches, great nightlife, I could go on forever Disadvantages: You have to come home
I have been to Majorca twice in the last three years. On the first occasion, I went with my husband and our two children who were 4 and 2 at the time. We chose Majorca because of the relatively short flight time of two hours. We stayed in Alcudia at the Marte Hotel which is in an all inclusive complex which also includes the hotels Jupiter and Saturno. We went in the second and third weeks of May. The first week was very unsettled, rainy and windy, ...

Overall our holiday to Majorca was Ok however our experience of Bellevue apartments did put us of and we have been reluctant to return and we now would never book anything below 4 star (and we do not use Thomas Cook).
Alcudia itself was quite a nice place although very busy, there is a good range of shops and there are plenty of day trips to go on I would recommend the cave of drach this was an excellent day out. ...

Advantages: Superb family resort Disadvantages: very busy
I visited Mallorca in September 2002 with my family (husband and 10 month old daughter). This was our first 'family' holiday so much time was spent choosing the resort and Mallorca itself was an obvious choice due to the flight time (approx 1.5 hours).
We choose the Aparthotel Coma Gran which is situated in Sa Coma on the East coast of Mallorca. The airport transfer is approximately 1.25 hours (almost as long as the flight!)
The Aparthotel ...

I stayed self catering in Minerva II at the Hotetur Bellevue complex in alcudia in the first week of August 2007. Five girls (aged 22-23) stayed in two apartments with 2 beds and a sofa bed in each - the sofa bed was very comfy!
In each appartment there was a kitchenette which was basic but adequate, the bathroom was clean and tidy, whats more we had maid service EVERY day, leaving fresh towels at each visit. It is true that they have no air conditioning, ...

Advantages: Loads of clubs Disadvantages: Having to come home
I haven’t written any opinions for ciao recently as I have spent a majority of my time doing other things, of which included going abroad to Mallorca. For those who are unsure where Mallorca is, it’s an island-situated East of Spain in the Balearic Islands although I’m sure most people will know this.
There were four of us who went and we stayed in Santa Ponsa on the coast, The area itself wasn’t very large but it had enough ...

Edited bit- 12.9.01
Went back to these apartments 17-31 August. Some changes good and bad.
We went with Airtours who even though they and their associated companies own the place picked the blocks of apartments at the very back of the site, Fedra 1,2,3 and Diana 1 and 2. So even to get out of the site, we had a 20 minute saunter... as it was so lovely and hot you couldn't walk that fast you'd be melting.
The standards had dropped dramatically. ...
