Advantages Advantages Shops etc open late, Beautiful Beach, Amazing Cathedral.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy, dirty, has Bull Ring.

I've not even been back a week, but feels like months ago that I went to Malaga. Back in the cold and gloom! I have never been to Spain before, and the decission was partly due to availability. I was waiting on the return of my Passport from Passport House, and so no holiday could be booked until then. I booked online at about midnight on 11/01/03, and we flew out at 6.25am on 12/01/03. So no time to buy phrase book, or learn any lingo! This was our downfall. If I advise anything, it's take a phrase book. On our return a friend kindly told me that you will deffinately have more fun out there ... more

Advantages Advantages Up & coming, interesting, friendly, non-touristy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Might be too normal for some

Malaga is one of those cities you possibly wouldn’t consider visiting for a city break, it’s mainly known for the airport. Then again, maybe people know Picasso was born there, maybe not. You get on a plane, arrive at Malaga and get a connecting taxi to Marbella, Torremolinos or wherever; most people don’t even think to visit Malaga itself. Luckily, I discovered Malaga on my first ever visit to Andalucia. I already had it in mind to get the train to Torrox; It’s another story that trains don’t run to Torrox and only as far as Malaga City Centre, and this is how I happened upon Malaga one warm ... more

    Advantages Advantages landscapes

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

Valleys that seem postal alpine, broken throats and like forests, rumorosos mountain rivers, abundant rains, shady forests of firs, flocks of eagles... all adorned it with the whitest pueblecitos of Andalusia. To whatever a landscape with the previous paragraph was described to him, hardly it would imagine that it referred to a the south of Spain, but is certain, it is the Mountainous area of Round, formed by gigantic bulks with names like Mountain range of Snows or the incredible natural wonder of the Park of Grazalema, in the province of Malaga, where it is lived here with another class of ... more

Advantages Advantages quiet, pretty lanscapes, value for money, nice friendly people, relaxing, good amount of sunshine all year

Disadvantages Disadvantages not a destination for everyone, need to know a little of the lingo, not very well developed area yet!

The first visit to this area was last september 2003. Both my husband and myself fell in love with the area. Although it is not a holiday for everyone. It will be a up and coming area of malaga in the future. We bought a 2 bed apartment in april 2004 on the urbanization torrox park for 117,000 euro as we were impressed by the area and the quality of the building work that was being undertaken on the site. The site itself has a main pizza eating place which is great value for money and the t-bone steak is a must for meat eaters. There are several small shops which sell everything from food to ... more

Advantages Advantages Pleasant treatment and much diversion

Disadvantages Disadvantages The Cortijo de Torres is very far

The truth is that I am Sevillian, but for that reason I am not going to criticize the fair negatively, because it would be to me impossible. It is a great fair and him little can be criticized, only one thing that already I will say more down. This summer I have been in Malaga of vacations and Malaga has enchanted to me. It did not come by very pequeñito capital Malaga from and the truth that is as if it was the first year that I come because I see the things of another way. Of Malaga I like everything what I have known and then I will save myself to describe it. Good then when it came me in ... more

    Advantages Advantages shopping

    Disadvantages Disadvantages nightlife

I went to malaga in 2007, I wasn't impressed at all, personally I think this may stem from the hotel and if you haven't got a good place to stay, it usually would hinder the holiday experience. Although, saying this there were a few good aspects of the holiday, the beach was lovely, plenty of sunloungers with comfortable cushions which we had to pay a small fee for for the whole day. The route to the beach wasnt very good there were steep hills and a lot of steps which could be a problem for a lot of people - there is a lift though. Another good point was the shops, they were open very late ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Dirty, noisy

Malaga, despite its position and the popularity of its airport with tourist charter flights, is a genuinely Spanish city. It is not full of ancient monuments, but has a long history which goes back to Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Romans; there's an Arab castle dominating the town and the views fron the upper part, the Gibralfaro, are stunning. Don't miss the cathedral and the port (ferries to Morocco if you fancy Africa), but the best thing about Malaga is the centre for an authentic local shopping experience. Try the market hall for meat, vegetables and local specialities. It's not ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Architecture, Beatiful City

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not for the young trendy

Malaga is an unusual city in that it is a perfect mix of the old and new Spain without the crass commercialism of the rest of Majorca and Spain. If you are looking for a city that retains the best of Spain yet has all the modern facilities and doesnt pander to the whims of tourists then this is it. The architecture is stunning it has leafy boulevards and the people are very relaxed and friendly. For my own purposes it has the best little guitar shop in Spain in a little street the address being number 10 Montenegro this shop sells spanish guitars folk guitars lutes mandolins all at prices ... more

Malaga I have to say, has to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life! The amazing range of ice creams like nutella, chocolate profiteroles, ferrero roche and many more! The friendliness of all the people astound me and the amount of restaurants is to die for! They have many restaurants where you can experience dining like never before- like cooking raw meat off a rock! The beaches are beautiful and the weather is always nice whether that be raining or sunny. The shopping centres hold a wide variety of shops and designers it will be so hard to resist. The local towns around Malaga are ... more
