Advantages: prices, service
Disadvantages: just those you get with any long haul flight!

...Kuala Lumpur between flights. Malaysian organised an extremely plush hotel, transport and lunch for absolutely no charge for all of us flying on to other destinations. It was excellent to have a hotel room for the day and lunch, and of course a stretch of legs and a shower. Advantages: Modern aircraft. Excellent in flight service
Disadvantages: Mediocre ground service. Food is so so

MAS,the Malaysian flag carrier bills itself as the "Golden Airline" and in many ways it is justified in doing so. I have flown on MAS many times,within Malaysia, and from Kuala Lumpur to London and other places. I have always found the in flight service to be excellent, the in flight entertainment to be more than satisfactory, and there is quite a lot of leg room on board. Advantages: Cheap, good food, better than average legroom.
Disadvantages: Airmiles hard to claim with their partner KLM.

...am a frequent user of Malaysian Airline for long haul flights. I travelled from United Kingdom to Malaysia and return each year. The price is competitive and sometimes you can get quite a good deal on this airline. Furthermore, the plane is brand new. Hence you will have your own LCD screen in front of your seat even for ECONOMY class. The service provided is also excellent. The stewards will attend to your needs all the time. i flew on MAS last april when i went from singapore to los angeles....the flight itself was quite alright and i must say that there were no major problem,s with the flight The flight crew were personable and warm... even to the extent of offering me alcohol (free) and engaging in conversation with me The in-flight entertainment system was awful... i couldnt see the one big screen from my seat and was left with the option to sleep throughout ... I have used Malaysian Air MAS a number of times to fly out to Asia and back to the UK and also internally throughout the Asia area. What a great service they offer - I used to use BA or Singapore airlines but find MAS better. One advantage is that they are based in the great airport in KL. What a top airport. I have used Malaysian Airlines on quite a few occasions for business & pleasure to Malaysia & also within the country. In all honesty there is very little to criticise them about, they use Jumbo jets for the UK to Malaysia flights & smaller aircraft for the domestic flights. ...to my first flight with Malaysian Airlines, and they certainly lived up to the deserved recognition. . Check in at Heathrow was quick and simple and boarding and take off were on time both directions. . Once seated, the main advantage is the 34 inch seat pitch. Advantages: New planes and friendly service.
Disadvantages:

I booked a flight with Malaysian Airlines in November 1999, departing from Brisbane, Australia and arriving in Heathrow airport London, United Kingdom. The whole flight took 25 hours and despite the time it took I enjoyed almost every moment. The food and drinks were great. The service was great. Disadvantages: The airport, time delays

I flew from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok last month by Malaysian. The flights all now depart from the new(ish) Sepang International airport beside the Grand Prix circuit. I arrived at the 3 hours early for my and was one of the first passengers in the check in queue. Well, I would have been but the check in displays were not working and I had to go round each desk to find my flight. I then found it saying "wait" which I did and did until I got nervous ... ...Kuala Lumpur International Airport with Malaysian Airlines, Boeing 747- 400 aircraft and the In- flight entertainment in Economy Class was superb. The airhostess makes sure that you are well looked after with regular refreshments and snacks.
