Advantages: Ever expanding Disadvantages: Flight supplements can be quite expensive
Manchester Airport is situated just outside the city of Manchester. It is very easily accessible to many cities in the North of England. Each terminal at the airport has its own motorway exit which is very clearly signposted, and there is an internal bus service to help you get around.
The airport boasts 3 terminals and 2 runways, and has new routes being added all the time, with airlines realising that people who want to travel from the UK don't ... ...adding experimental routes to their Manchester flights now, especially to various cities in the USA. However, many low cost airlines favour the nearby Liverpool airport, as the cost of landing fees, hangar fees and the like, are said to be very expensive at Manchester, whereas other smaller airports are willing to reduce these costs to offer a more varied and economical service. If you book a holiday departing from Manchester, there is nearly always ...

...many, many years. Living in Manchester itself now means that Ringway is the obvious choice, but even when I lived at the seaside we still flew from here – something to do with the fact that my holiday / travelling requirements generally extend beyond Jersey and Tenerife – practically the only 2 places served by Blackpool airport. This year Manchester hosted the Commonwealth Games, and got rather excited about it months before they began. Tickets were on sale ages before, shops appeared stocking the official merchandise, and volunteer requests made the rounds. At work we were even asked how many languages we could speak just in case there’s a problem with any of the foreign customers who appear – after all, on your first trip to Manchester from some far ...

Manchester Airport formerly known to the 'older' jet set as Ringway has gronw up a matured gracefully, it is of course not without its controversy, more terminal space with the new Terminal 2 (T2), and who could forget the antics of Swampy and his mates trying to stop the building of the new staggered parallel runway 24L/6R with its assortment of additional taxiways and new 2nd airport fire station situated half way down to the south side of the ... ...now Terminal 1 (T1)...

...with JMC in February from Manchester airport.
My parents were flying out a week before us (lucky things) so I was persuaded to drive them up there to save money on the parking. The first thing that I will point out is that Manchester airport is brilliant to get to from the North or South (M6) but a nightmare from the East, such as Lincoln (tiny windy roads across the Penines where the hills just about killed my poor little car loaded up with parents ... ...the Ringway car park outside Manchester (eventually, that is... the directions are terrible). We were very impressed by the fact that the bus for the airport left within about 5 minutes, with only 2 couples on it. The driver was a maniac too, we made about 12 miles in less than 10 minutes.
We checked in without a problem and we took our own food to avoid the high cost in the airport. Again we avoided the shops in the main airport so we got bored ...

Who doesn't like flying?
I personally love it and will get to give it another go in a few weeks, flying to Tenerife from Manchester Airport (Ringway). I have only been on a foreign holiday twice, both times flying from Ringway.
I have to say that it was a much better experience than I was expecting, I was expecting simply to check in and sit down and wait for the flight. Each time I have flown it, has been ... ...shops selling electrical goods and Manchester souvenirs.
* Clothes - Tie Rack/Shop? etc
* Duty Free shop.
And once you have spent up, you can sit and wait for your flight to board, with an excellent view of the stand ( sort of parking area for the planes)
As well as shopping opportunities, there are lots of amusement machines and vibrating chairs (for those with a kinky side, lol!!)
Once you have checked in and gone through the security checks, ...

Advantages: Flies to many locations Disadvantages: Large, hard to navigate and very disorganised
Unfortunately for me, Manchester Airport is a necessity. Leeds/Bradford, the best airport in my opinion, doesn't fly to as many places (and invariably Manchester is sufficiently cheaper for me to think it warrants a visit. I have flown from there 7 times, and each time I have vowed I would never return.
Manchester Airport is massive. It has three terminals and flies to every country imaginable. The place is just too disorganised though, let me tell ... ...So getting to the airport is easy which is one thing it has over Leeds/Bradford. It's just off a junction of the M62 and luckily the signs are pretty easy to follow. Don't let this trick you into thinking that this reflects on the airport however!

Manchester Airport is a rapidly growing enterprise. Now with three terminals, new runways, a central location and airlines queueing up to get routes, it should only get better.
My Most Recent Experience.....
Starts as we approach the Airport. We suddenly realise we don't know which terminal to go to. A sign appears : Terminal One is domestic flights...ok.....therefore, it must be 2 or 3. No further signs, so we take a chance on Three. I quickly ... ...But we are saved. Manchester has an express walkway through to terminal 2. It takes 10 minutes. Crisis averted, we check in in the nick of time. Now we can see what is here.
The Buildings
Manchester Airport is a tightly-knit group of terminals, hangars, hotels, transport facilities, and petrol stations. Everything, as we found, is in easy reach. In terminals 2 and 3, check in areas are large, pleasantly warm, and efficient. As I strolled down into ...

At Manchester Airport there is a lovely littly oasis of calm called, appropriately, The Escape Lounge. Ok, you pay £15 per person to get in, but my word what a world of difference. ...I flew to Cyprus from Manchester airport. Even before the plane took off we underwent a bit of an ordeal. The first problem was that when we got to Manchester airport I received a text message from my holiday company telling me that I had incorrect airline tickets and that I should go to information and ask them to sort it out. Advantages: Friendly staff, clean airport Disadvantages: long time stood in queue
A week ago on the 9th March , my husband and I set off for a holiday to Tenerife.
The pick up was exactly on time, we had in fact three hours until the plane departed which was plenty of time.
We got in the queue for Air 2000, there were several queues forming and we just stood waiting until it was our turn.
What I was concerned about was the fact that on the screens it just said Air 2000, not the flight and destination numbers.
I was scared ... ...Anyway there were only about six couples and families before us but the service was so slow it was unbelievable.
We wondered why, as normally with being so far up the queue it only takes around 30 mins. We must have waited over an hour before it was our turn.
Apparently people were being asked if they had any "Meats or Dairy Products in their luggage."
Of course the British public are daft enough to take their own Bacon and one woman had about ...

...work) and I pass through Manchester airport on average once every 6 weeks (coming or going). I've been doing this for 5 years and before that I probably flew from Manchester 3 or 4 times a year so I've seen it change a lot. Manchester Airport is our local airport and one, which we use very often, it’s a good airport, with loads of good points, it has three terminals, each for different destinations. It’s easy to get to and if someone brings you, they can find a car parking space relatively easily. Like all airports it has a range of shops, that you can visit before you board your flight. I suppose they are good to buy magazines etc, but they are expensive.
... ...and mostly they are on time, well everytime we have been with them and the only time it was delayed we were put up in a nice hotel for the night. Checking in at the airport is easy, and if you don’t have any extra luggage you won’t get hassled. The information desk is really helpful and will answer any queries if you any before you board.
When you check in, and are waiting for you flight, they have a really nice lounge, with even more ...

I have used the Manchester Airport several times and I think it's very good. Checking in providing you arrive nice and early is very easy, and boarding is quite straightforward. The airport is accessible and has good motorway links but be sure to take the correct terminal, as there are two. Inside, the airport can often be packed but it's very clean and that's one thing you like. The toilets I have to say are immaculate.......a point worth noting ... ...have your money converted at Manchester Airport in most currencies- and they give a good rate. Don’t forget to check out HMV it’s really big and they always have a sale on, and The Body Shop is also another good shop to visit. Delays can always occur and the recent delays have not been anyone's fault in the UK except for the strikers abroad. ...

Manchester Airport is world famous, big, well organised and planned but somehow it still seems to be dirty! The amount of litter is absolutely dreadful; they have got hardly any cleaning staff.
