    I could really write about Marmaris telling you about every detail and youd still be sitting here until tomorrow morning!! I'll try not to get too excited when im imagining myself lying on the beach or out shopping around and give you a good idea of what a holiday in Marmaris has to offer you. Market/Suitability ----------------------- Who is it for?? I would recommend MArmaris to anyone. However the resort is not quiet if your looking for peace & tranquility - but at the same time its not really overly lively.     This review is based on my own experience and my own thoughts about Marmaris Turkey. Marmaris is located 100km from Dalaman airport, it sits in a natural bay surrounded by breathtaking mountains. We wanted to visit Marmaris for a number of reasons, an opportunity to experience local life, meet the local people, enjoy the fabulous cusine and relax in the blasting sun.     My hoilday to Turkey Marmrais started as soon as I got of the plane at Dalaman airport, as I got of the plane the heat just hit me, it was HoT. After we got off the plane we had a long 2 hour coach drive to Marmaris though the mountains which where lovely but we did have a 15 minutes fag break thank god. As we got of the coach, I was really tired and all I wanted to do was sleep, but as we entred the hotel my eyes just opened it was lovely the pool was all lit up and you could smell the beach.     One of the last holidays abroad on people's minds would probably be Turkey, because these days everyone is either partying in Ibiza or booked a cheap holiday to somewhere like Tenerrife or Cyprus. The weather over in Turkey is very hot, especially during August when i went. Everyday was over 40 degrees, meaning you'll need plenty of sun tan lotion to stop burning. You will however come back with a nice tan (as long as your not parting all night and sleeping all day). You may very well ask yourself, what has Turkey got to offer? and the answer is, 'alot'.     Last summer was host to the most exciting and most different holiday I have ever taken. Bored of years of holidays with parents, always staying in the same place, always visiting the same places, I decided this time to go away with friends. My boyfriend managed to secure us a cheap holiday sailing around the Turkish coast, so naturally, I went - partly because of the price, partly because of the company...and partly because I'd heard so much about Turkey and yet had never visited.     Turkey at a three hour flight is just a little further than the greek Islands. I went 3 years ago back in 1998 and flew into Dalaman airport on a sunny evening in mid October. The coach journey to our Hotel The Hotel Keskin was supposed to take 2 1/2 hours but ended up as roughly about 6. (But I don't blame turkey for that.) First impressions of the country were that it seemed a relatively poor area with unfinished buildings and incomplete infrastructure however I would not say it was an ugly country - There was plenty of culture to be seen on the journey to the Hotel.     Well I have spend the last two weeks in Marmaris, I kinda forgot to tell anyone on Ciao I was going and have most probably been forgotten around here now (sorry about that), anyway here is my opinion on the resort. I have had a quick look at other peoples opinions of Marmaris and it seems to be basking in uttermost praise from people so I am going to highlight the bad points as well as the good points, but keep in mind that Marmaris is a fairly big place and not all you read will be relevant to your holiday (if you do choose to go there).     I decided to write about this resort because it is my favourite. I have been to quite a few places, but Marmaris is the resort I keep returning to. ************* WHY ************** OK so I am going to tell you why, hopefully after reading this review you won't have fallen asleep :) and you will want to go there!! Flights I hate flying so the only thing is that from Glasgow, fight is 4 hours 30 mins. Only good thing is that you fly at quite a high height therefore you do not tend to get a lot of turbulence on the journey...which is always a good thing :) From other airports ie Manchester ... more

    When i heard that i was going on holiday to Turkey 2 years ago, all that went through my mind was "Is it close to Iraq?!?" I thought of this due to the emense fighting that was going on in Iraq at the time i was going. I also thought "What if Turkey isnt fun?". May 21st 2003, was the day i first went to Turkey with mixed emotions i boarded my plane from Birmingham to the Airport nearby to the resort of Marmaris named Dalaman. +~ ON THE OTHER SIDE ~+ Dalaman is about 1hr and 30 mins away from the actual resort.     I have been going to Marmaris since 1995, and have been back every year since, sometimes twice a year (depending on funds!) I fell in love with the resort, the country and the locals. You couldn't meet friendlier people than the Turks, they showed us nothing but warm hospitality, and genuine friendliness. Year after year as we go back its like going home to our second home. Locals we maybe only met briefly, remember us, when you consider the thousands of faces they see every day this is excellent. Accomodation is inexpensive, and clean, a bit basic, but marmaris does cater for you if you like ... more
