Advantages: Interesting from an historical/archaeological viewpoint Disadvantages: A long way up to walk!
Masada is a fascinating place, where the Jewish zealots committed suicide, rather than accept the Roman’s rule. I chose to take the cable car up, although this made it a rather expensive option at 50 shekels (nearly a tenner). You can walk up, but it takes 45 minutes and in the blazing sun, I wouldn’t recommend it – no way! If you do decide to walk up, go in the early morning.
