The construction period for the Menara Tower was between the years of 1992 and 1995 with the Tower first being opened to the public on the 23rd July 1996. The Menara Tower is used for communication purposes and has an antenna that reaches 421 metres (1,381 feet). This makes the Menara Tower the fifth tallest tower in the world and the largest building in the while of Malaysia.

Advantages: Cheap ticket price, wonderful views of the city Disadvantages: Situated on a tall hill, if you are walking.
The hotel concierge told me that I could walk to the KL Tower, but as it was a hot, sticky day I chose to grab a taxi and was very glad I did as the tower is on top of a very steep hill. You can't really see this from ground level in the city, only when you get close. The tower has a forest area around it called Bukit Nanas Reserve and there was a sign saying that you could visit free nature trails and see monkeys around the area, but I didn't have ... ...is very large and old, and apparently they moved the whole tower when it was being constructed so that it didn't get disturbed.
The base of the tower has ticket desks and a few shops and stalls selling food and souvenirs. You can either go to the revolving restaurant and have a meal, or just go to the observation deck. I chose the latter and paid 15 Ringetts (about £3). The cost of an audio tour using a portable tape device is included in that, ...

Advantages: Great value for money/romantic Disadvantages: A little awkward to get to
We absolutely loved it here! We had dinner here on our last night in KL. It was part of a tour organised by our hotel, but I think most of the travel agents can book this for you. It's usually fully booked, so definitely worth pre-booking before you leave for KL.
The tower is situated on the top of a hill, and I'm not sure about the transport links as we had a driver take up here.
You can just go up to the observation deck and look at the view, ... ...restaurant situated at the top.
Its a buffet menu and you pay a flat price per head, but this doesn't include wine. There's wide selection of indian, chinese and malay food. And yes, there's a western selection - but you're on holiday, so be adventerous!
While you sit at your table, you can watch KL pass you by. You get a fantastic veiw of the twin towers and the Maybank building. Although the building itself is shorter that the twin towers, you ...
