...as I have stayed at Mercure hotels before in Barcelona & Paris & was left impressed by their value or money, clean & decent rooms & I always received a decent breakfast. When on holiday I look at hotels to provide me with a bed at night & a decent breakfast, the reminder of the time is spent out & about, sightseeing.
We arrived at the hotel & was swiftly & efficiently checked in, the informed us that they didn't have a restaurant which wasn't a ... ...room behind the reception desk is only used for breakfast or corporate events when a buffet is arranged.
More surprisingly our room was just a short walking distance behind the reception desk & the breakfast room, when we arrived at the room I was surprised to see two glass doors. Mercure Nestroy in Vienna is a good value for money for a place to stay over holidays or during a business trip. Located a 5 minute walk from a subway station and withing a 20 min walk from the city centre, Mercure is much cheaper than its counterparts just 1 km close to the city centre. The hotel is not impressively decorated, and in general, one should not expect luxury. However, it is very practical. The rooms, for example, are equipped with larger ... ...restaurants within a 2-10 minutes walk. The is also no possibility to obtain an iron from the reception.
Finally, the personnel is very helpful in all the small thing a tourist may need. All in all, Mercure is a sound if not a nicely looking investment. ...
