The Fat Controller’s Worst Nightmare
Review of Merseyrail Electrics by

Advantages: Proves I have patience
Disadvantages: Its all been said before
Public transport should carry a Health Warning. I live in a little village, which is poorly served by train and bus ‘services’. The trains run at 7am and 8 am, then every hour from 9.30 am until 6.30 pm, then they stop. The buses are a little better, and run every half hour from 7.50 am to 6.55 pm, then change to an hourly service at 6.35 pm, the final bus to the village is at 10.55 pm. The nearest Town is around 6 miles away (as the crow flies).
Anyway, ...

Advantages: Big trains
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable, Old, Manky, what more is there
Merseyrail electrics, recently taken over by Arriva has been serving the Liverpool community for about 25 years and so have the same trains by the looks of things.
You see, Merseyrail are really fast and delays are a No No but I think the owners do not realise that the rolling stock are not comfortable.

Advantages: Cheap, but certainly not cheerful. Sucidal more like.
Disadvantages: Dirty, smelly, understaffed (and even then they are unhelpful and rude), unrelaible........

As anybody who travels by train through Liverpool Central (run by Arriva/Merseytravel), it ...

Great service
Review of Merseyrail Electrics by

Advantages: Reliable and Frequent Services
Disadvantages: Train interiors can be messy
Merseyrail are my local rail service, only a short walk from my house to the station, and I use the trains very frequently for both leisure and commuting, and have done since the early 90s.
Personally I think Merseyrail offer a fantastic commuter service. I have visited plenty of places that have trains every hour, or maybe longer than that. But if you are travelling on the Merseyrail Network, you get trains every 15 minutes during weekdays and ...
