5 Stars New York, New York Review with images 01/10/2005

Advantages Advantages Great location, clean friendly hotel

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some rooms may be a bit noisy

Booking a hotel in New York can be a somewhat bewildering experience - there is far too much choice! This can be a burden -your choice of hotel can make or break a holiday and with such a wonderful city as New York, it becomes even more important. We booked 5 nights at the Milford Plaza Hotel, located on West 45th Street in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The location could not have been better - the hotel is in Broadway's Theatre District, and just a few minutes stroll to Times Square. The hotel's lobby is large and impressive, well-decorated and always busy - don't worry if you arrive about ... more

Advantages Advantages Clean, friendly, does the job

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit noisy but to be expected

I was very pleased with this hotel (which we stayed at after being recommened to stay at it by a friend) The location is absolutely perfect everything you could want is around you. The hotel itself does the job, it is clean, well presented and the staf couldn't be more helpful. I would definately recommend this hotel. THE HOTEL - The hotel when we were staying there was in the middle of being renivated, but this did not intervine with our stay. When you first arrive the hotel lobby is very well presented with many staff around to help you. Our check in was very quick and our room was ready for ... more

Advantages Advantages Deli and Pub downstairs, near to Times Square/Broadway

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite noisy, room was basic

I stayed at the Milford Plaza on my first trip to New York and had no idea about the city at all. The hotel looks great from the lobby with escalators from the street level and it has a deli, gift shop and pub right underneath. There was always someone on duty by the lifts, always checking that you had a room key so it was fairly secure. It was in a great location, right on Times Square and next to the Broadway Theatres so there was lots to do right on your doorstep. The rooms however were disappointing, and we didn't even have any power when we made it up there. It was quickly resolved though ... more

    Advantages Advantages Near Times Square

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Hotel is Pathetic

The hotel looks like it began a rennovations project that began and ended at the lobby, never making it to the guest rooms. The lobby genuinely looks nice. But the guest rooms are terrible. It looks like a Motel 6 or worse. My first room smelled like a sewer. I am not sure where the smell was coming from (I think the plumbing), but it was pervasive. Also, I did not have a dresser to put my clothes in. I changed rooms. The second room had a dresser, but was missing a desk. (It did have a rickety chair in the corner.) Unfortunately, both dresser drawers were stuffed full of extra pillows and ... more

    Advantages Advantages Location, customer service

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any really.

After arriving in the evening at our original hotel and finding that there was no reservation for us we were eventually accommodated at the Milford Plaza and I cannot reccommend them enough for their outstanding customer service. The front desk staff were extremely helpful in trying to solve our predicament and found us a room at mega short notice. As for the accommodation, the room we were allocated was on a high floor and had a king bed, TV, table and chairs, en--suite bathroom with shower and all of the usual accoutrements you would expect of this class hotel. There was a little noise form ... more

Advantages Advantages Location - central to theatres, Times Square

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bustling noisy location may not suit all

Milford Plaza is in an excellent location if you want to enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown New York. Situated right next to Times Square, it is ideal for the Broadway shows or just to enjoy the hustle and bustle of New York life. On first entering the hotel, it may seem like the Milford has seen better days, but for the price the accommodation is good, clean and ideal. Rooms could be bigger, but in New York space seems to be a premium - and you won't be spending a lot of time there. Compared to many hotels in New York, the Milford Plaza is very good. The staff are helpful and there is ... more
