Minster Hotel, York

For my birthday last year Dave decided to arrange a weekend in York for me. I really needed a break as I am full time carer to mom who has dementia so we chose a really nice hotel (or so we thought) and booked in for the weekend. The hotel has a website at www.minsterhotel.co.uk and, if you take a look, you'll see it looks like an ideal choice of venue - looks good, has excellent facilities and is close to York. I found out after we had returned ...
...the hotel before we went explaining my situation and that a weekend break was a very rare treat for me and asking if they could make sure things were just right for me - bless him! We arrived on Friday evening having found the hotel easily. It is on Bootham which is the main road leading into York, through Bootham Bar and directly to York Minster. This was part of the attraction as it meant that we could park the car and not need to use it again ...

The Minster Hotel in York is situated on Bootham and is literally no more than a 5 minute walk down a staright road from the city centre. It is a friendly, welcoming place to stay. My boyfriend and I were looking to stay in another hotel in York, but as this particular weekend was a race weekend, many hotels were fully booked and in high demand. My sister in law recommended this one to me, and we were able to stay here for 3 nights earlier this year ...
...Although check in wasn\'t normally until 3pm, we were allocated our room atleast an hour and a half earlier than would of been allowed, which was great as we had arrived in York alot sooner than we expected. On arrival we were asked for our name, whether we wanted to order a morning paper, and for our car registration. The hotel has its own car park situated behind the building, which is private, and obviously for guests only. This is a great plus ...

The hotel is conveniently located, and well decorated. The only thing letting them down is the service - it was very poor and due to that we will not be staying there again. The bar and restaurant were closed without prior notice, and when we asked about room service we were made to feel we were putting them out.They were asked to book a taxi, and informed us they could not get one - ten mins after it was supposed to arrive!! The service in the restaurant, and breakfast room was slow. There was no veggie option on the dinner menu, and the food was not great. The staff were less than helpful. ...

The Minster Hotel, where I stayed earlier this year, is located about 5 minutes walk from the beautiful York Minster and the city centre. The location is really good – it’s handy for all major attractions and shops. At the check-in I was asked to pay in advance, which I found really strange but was told it was their normal practice… Check-in time is quite late – 2pm, check-out is early - 10 am. The room was fairly quiet and quite comfortable, offering ...
...The bathroom looked old though… and the shower curtain wasn’t exactly clean, which spoilt the pleasure of having a shower. There’s nothing like gym or pool at this small hotel. Breakfast is served in a Victorian dining room. Usual choice here – full English or continental. We had to wait for quite a while for a coffee refill. The car park is a bonus. A double room cost us 80 pounds per night, which was a bit dear for what it is… And when we were ...
