Advantages Advantages Well thought out facilities for familes/babies.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Prices. Some locations aren't as clean or well stocked as others.

I travel a lot across the country to visit relatives and when I recently became a mum baby facilities at motorway service became very important to me. On my first journey as a mum I stopped at a services (not Moto - Roadchef I think) and found the facilities to be very limited. However on my second journey I stopped at a Moto and I have to say from now on I will aim to stop at Moto services above all others. I was so impressed with the family/baby facilities. All motos should provide free baby food, nappies and baby wipes, steribottles, bibs, bowls, spoons, use of microwave and bottle warmer ... more

Advantages Advantages you know what to expect, somewhere to stop if you are tired

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive food

We stopped here becasue we'd been stuck in traffic after a motorway accident on the intersection of M62 and M1, and we needed to take a break becasue we were frazzled- forgot I had air conditioning! I knew that there was a service station between junctions 39 and 38 southbound on the M1 so we headed there. Easy to follow signs to the car park- with words and symbols so you'd understand even if you didn't speak English. FACILITIES Shop- newspapers, sweets, books, music, drinks, sandwiches, greetings cards and gifts..they were selling the Harry Potter latest book on Saturday but I wouldn't pay ... more

    Advantages Advantages No other alternative!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Just all round nasty

It was lashing down with rain when we pulled in at these services en route to Cambridge with a hungry 3 year old in tow. So I will give the cleaners the benefit of the doubt, as the entrance to the place was filthy - muddy footprints, and hazardous wet floors. Anyway we headed straight for the "restaurant" and breakfast. £7.99 for a plate of wilting toast, a couple of greasy sausages, an egg, some beans and some bacon wasn't the worst part! On top of that, tea or coffee starts at almost 2 quid, so for two people (we decided the little one would have to share ours!), you're talking nearly £20 ... more

Advantages Advantages Great facilities for babies and kids

    Disadvantages Disadvantages High prices

Had the pleasure of stopping at the Toddington services on the Southbound M1 on 18th May, 2004. It was about 1pm and the car park was around half full so no problems parking. Nice touch at the entrance to the building was the Pet Station with bowls of water and dog biscuits for the canine guests. Only guide dogs are allowed into the building but there was a small grassed area at the side where dogs could stretch their legs and do what dogs do best. Firstly and definitely most important - toilets. Can't speak for the gents but the ladies were spotless. I'd even be happy to take my granny in ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple layout, easy-to-find, good facilities

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive food

Pease Pottage services is just off Junction 11 of the M23, 7 miles south of London Gatwick Airport. Coming off the motorway southbound, just take the first exit off the roundabout. Northbound, its the thirs exit. It's instantly noticeable as you drive off the slip road and unlike many service station carparks, the layout is simple. One way for car parking, one way for lorries and another way for fuel. The fuelling station is a Shell garage, and while the petrol is more expensive than town and supermarket petrol stations, its still a bit cheaper than other local motorway services such as ... more

The problem with this service statiobn is where to park if you are in a large van . If you park in a car place you get clamped . if you park in a caravan place you get clamped , if you park in a HGV place geuss what you get clamped . The management don't want to know ,couldn't give a damm in fact . Ihasten to add I haven't been clamped but many friends and acciotes have . So if you drive anything other than a car AVOID like the plague . I personally will make a concious effort ... more

I am horrified using services for the first time in ages that they charge after 2 hours of parking."Take a break, tiredness kills" says the government then takes money from the likes of Moto to rip people off whilst they try to be safe.A truck driver told me he had to pay £35 of his own money to sleep over night!Thesedrivers do important work, they can kill when driving if tired. Another example of caring UK.In Europe the rest areas are free, the cafes are clean, unlike the filthy Burger .king we used at Moto near Bristol, tables and floor soiled with food. The prices are ... more

Advantages Advantages sell good things and are handy when on long drives

    Disadvantages Disadvantages RIP OFF

Whichever Moto you turn to, to stop off at, you will always find their prices are absolutely disgraceful! Whether your buying a meal for your family, buying some sweets for the journey or just stopping for a drink they will always be really expensive. I'm srprised you don't have to pay them to wipe your own a**. Inside this particular service station I stopped off at we decided to eat at the Burger King as we had some kids with us. We went to sit down and one of us went up to order. "That'll be £32 please, sir." WHAT?!?! This is a meal for 4! At home I could've bought that from home for about ... more

1 Star Quick review of Moto Motorway Service Stations by freediver 10/12/2008
Used Winchester service area Northbound a few days ago - Moto have recently taken this over from RoadChef who seemed to run the site well in the past. This time it was appalling. Limited options as only 1 warm food outlet open while BurgerKing was being built. The meals (at 2.15pm) were dried up and dreadful. Chilli and curry both so stale they were crusted over, fried fish that was chocolate brown, rice that you could build a wall with. Everything on offer was similarly unappetising. Bad hygiene - handling food immediately after operating till and taking money, and miserable staff. ... more

    Advantages Advantages Have toilets

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Place badly kept

Being a frequent commuter between the south of Scotland and the South of England I find, unfortunately that this service station is a perfect halfway house HOWEVER ONLY IN LOCATION. If you have ever stopped at Wooley Edge M1 SOUTH you will know exactly what I mean. The first real impression this service station made on me was back in 1997 on a late night stop south. The place was deserted, there was a skeleton staff on hand and the coffee, quite frankly, was revolting. We have unfortunately had to stop on several occasions at this location for calls of nature and on one such stop our hearts ... more
