The National Railway Museum in York first opened its doors to the public in 1975 and although I was too young to remember, around five or six years old at the time, I think that I was quite possibly one of the first visitors to see this attraction. The National Railway Museum in York is completely free and is easily accessible due to the large number of bus routes around york. It is situated very close to the railway station and is completely free. It features a large number of trains from the past and present from the legendary Mallard to the Japanese Bullet Train.
