...and impressive history of the natural world in the UK.
Exhibitions cover all aspects of life past and present including the animal kingdom, plant life, human life and its development, sociology and psychology, fossils, rocks, materials, natural phenomena and plenty more. Don't be fooled into thinking there are just a few old and dusty dinosaur bones lurking inside…far from it!
Firstly, getting there is relatively straight forward. The closest underground ... ...steps) leads straight into the natural world section, whereas the Exhibition road entrance just round the corner (step free) leads into the earth history section. Both these sections are accessible from each other inside.
Free maps are available at the entrance to help plan your way round the exhibits, and a very helpful colour-coding system splits the museum into specific zones, which are explained below.

...their favourite museums is the Natural History Museum, which is fairly conveniently situated a short walk from South Kensington tube station and open 10am-5.50pm Monday to Saturday and 11am-5.50pm Sunday (closed 24-26 December).
As I said, getting there is a fairly painless process, although you should consider that if you're pushing a buggy or wheelchair, there are a number of stairs to manoeuvre (thank goodness for those kind souls that help with ... ...station (District, Circle and Piccadilly), although it should be noted that there are still severe restrictions on these services. If you prefer not to travel by tube, there are a number of buses that stop nearby, along with cycle parking facilities. The one method of transport not recommended is by car, as there is very limited parking available, and what there is, is very expensive.

...very first visit to the Natural History Museum was way back in primary school, the only problem is I can’t remember much about what I saw & so I had to visit this place again. Since then I have been twice, last year & three weeks ago. I’m on a London tour at the moment & I feel like a real tourist, two of my Spanish friends from Barcelona are here on vacation & so I thought the natural history museum would be an ideal place to start.

Advantages: A full day out, something to interest absolutely everyone. Disadvantages: Lots of groups of annoying schoolchildren get in your way during term time, quite expensive

The Natural History museum comprises Life Galleries, covering mostly animal life (a lot of them extinct) and Earth Galleries, covering subjects like geology, volcanoes, minerals and the like. Please note that there is very, very little plant related material in Natural History Museum, if you want to see the plants you have to go to Kew Gardens! I have to say that for a casual visitor Life Galleries are definitely the priority, and ... ...would be better to concentrate solely on these. Most of the exhibitions are located on the ground level of that amazing building, but some have raised walkways/ramps/gallery balconies to see from above. The material is divided according to the systematic of animal world but some highlights are dotted around the impressive main hall, whose centre is graced by fantastic dinosaur skeleton so often associated with the museum. ...to my friends was the Natural History Museum and I have to agree with them. It has been a very long time since I last visited this museum , if I recall rightly I have to go as back to a school trip that's how long its been. I was very young to remember what I saw so for me it was also like a first time visit. As tourist do my friends bought a booklet outlining some of the history of the museum and to my amazement it opened in 1881and still going ... ...in London knows where South Kensington is and if you don't then ask as you have no problems there. You will need to go to Cromwell Road , South Kensington. Lots of buses , taxi`s or undederground trains will soon get you there. If you get lost don't worry as the museum will find you , once you get to Cromwell Road you cannot help but notice the huge scale of a building which absorbs your attention straight away. ...and getting there: Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London SW7 5BD, UK. Within walking distance of South Kensington station on the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines.
By bus Routes 14, 49, 70, 74, 345, 360, 414 and C1 stop near us. Some tour buses also pass nearby.
I would not advise going by car here as parking is very difficult and expensive. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Extra ... ...would suggest you pop out for lunch and come back. I brought 4 drinks and 2 small packs of biscuits for approx. £15 never again. Due to heighten security your bags will be checked on entering the building, no sharp items are allowed. I have only had this done once and the person who checked mine was very nice and friendly. Human Biology area is great for tired feet as their is plenty of areas to sit while the children play. ...

What this place hasn't got isn't worth having! I last visited 2 years ago and it was fantastic then. There is stuff from every part of the globe. When you walk in, a massive skeleton greets you! They also have installed a set of touch-screen guides to show you around and help you find what you are looking for. My favourite department was the Rocks and Minerals, they must have an example of every one known to man there, the exhibit is massive. It ...

Although the natural history museum has some great collections and is housed in one of the most impressive buildings in London, there are still a few imrovements which could be made.
I last visited about a year ago and still found the museum lacking in modern hands-on type exhibitions. Although they have been trying in recent years to update the museum (with the inclusion of exhibits such as the animatronic dinosaurs, the spinning world and the ...
