Intro Negril is a tourist town on the NW of the island of Jamaica. Numerous hotels of all sizes and budgets are located along this, essentially one street town. At Negril we were met by the hoards of taxi drivers trying to give us lifts and drug dealers tempting us with their wares (NB it is illegal to possess cannabis in Jamaica so don't get caught if you are tempted) but we knew that Couples would be providing a bus. Any traveller would know not to go wandering off by yourself in complete darkness in an area that you have no knowledge of, this is the major rule here. We visited the this stunning Hotel on our honeymoon. Two weeks in September 2005. We decided to get a private transfer to the hotel with Talk of the Town Tours. Soloman was fantastic, from the off we were immersed into the chilled out way of life that envelopes this amazing island. We arrived at the hotel to be greeted with a cocktail, just the trick after a long flight! We were then taken to our room, fully stocked with mini bar full of beer, Pepsi ...
...-nice! The Beach was gorgeous, not like the Dom rep or Mexico (apparently) but we felt like we were in paradise every day. The food was fantastic, all inclusive from a main buffet which was really varied and a la carte steak house, italian and a 'posh' restaurant that had to be booked for night time eating. ...I started going to Negril with my wife on our honeymoon to the Beaches Negril resort (which is part of the Sandels resots group) in 2004 and haven't looked back since. It is a really lovely place to go for a holiday, beaches resorts maybe on the costly side for a two week holiday but it is really worth it as they are all inclusive so you never have to worry about food or drink. The resort has about 3/4 of a mile of the 7 mile long beach at Negril ...
...you can also go and use during your stay. Being on the west side of the island means you can be in a great place to see the sunset but the best place we found was at Rick's Cafe which is about another 45 mins up the coast from the resort and all that you have heard about the place is true!!!
