Advantages: Cheap shopping, culture, fun! Disadvantages: Can be stressful!
INTRODUCTION
I always thought of New York as one of those places everyone should visit once. So when I was offered the chance of a week’s free accommodation in Brooklyn, I took the opportunity for my one off visit. I was fairly certain I wouldn’t like the place enough to ever want to go there again. I don’t like cities. And from what I had heard, New York epitomised everything I hate about cities. Noisy, stressful, tacky and very, very large.
But ...

We have been talking about visiting NYC for many years now and we finally got a chance to see it when we took a family trip to the USA. We decided to first go to my sister in Ohio and spend a few days there. After this we would go to NYC and ...

...already know I spent the New Year in New York, so I thought it might be nice to share my experiences with you all, so here is my guide to the Big Apple.
It’s a very tall city, much taller than I imagined it to be, as many of you will no doubt be aware it has been the setting for many films and a few Drama’s also including Friend’s, Will and Grace, Sex In The City, I was hoping to see one or two famous faces in and around New York ...

The island city of New York is, with a population of around eight million, the largest city in the United States. It is divided into five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island. It is one of the most beguiling places there is; life goes on at an incredible pace and one could even describe it as the epitome of everything that's wrong with America. However, spend a week here and the initial shock gives way to myth. The moment ...

...that even though I have New York in my username, because I love the city with a passion, I have yet to write a review about it. So here it is!
I have wanted to go to New York for as long as I can possibly remember. I think it may stem from watching lots of American films when I was a youngster (such as Home Alone) that centred around New York, particularly at Christmas time when it showed the big Christmas tree at Times Square etc.
I was lucky ...

Anyone who's ever been will tell you that New York is absolutely and utterly unique. Nowhere else even comes close. I've been visiting on and off for almost a quarter of a century and, even after all these years, I still get that buzz when my plane touches down at JFK. I love the place and the people who ...

Advantages: So much to see and do Disadvantages: Exhausting if you try to. Might not want to come home, leading to forgetting to paying the mortgage and having the house re-possessed!
When I first wrote about New York some 13 months ago, it was subsequent to a 5-day break over the New Year of 2002/2003, so the whole thing had an air of ‘New York as a New Year destination’. Now that I’ve been there twice, having got back today from a 5-day February half-term break, I’ve decided to add in my new experiences, to make this more of a city guide, rather than a ‘what I did over New Year’ holiday diary (even if it did get a diamond!)

Most people who visit New York love the experience, but their wallets love the experience less so. Having experienced the charme of New York as both a tourist and a 'local', I would like to give some suggestions of fun things to do in New York without having to remortage your house at the end of your vacation.
This is a review in progress. I attempted to include as much as possible, but intend to add on from time to time.

I first visited New York in late November, early December of 2001, after a very cramped seven and a half hour flight a group of friends and myself finally landed at Newark airport in new Jersey, you could see straight away how nice and clean and welcoming it was going to be, and it only took 20 minutes to get to our hotel in new Jersey from the airport. The Quality inn at Newark is very reasonable and easy to get to the city, about ...

I first went to New York in 1996, as an impoverished student and had decided to spend my student loan for my final year on a 'voyage' to the Big Apple and DC. Being someone who has travelled extenisvely I always get a reasonable first impression from how visitors get treated on arrival. Vancouver has the big 'Welcome to Canada' signs and they always wish you a good stay, the Australians are paranoid about you having fruit in your bag but are good ...

...years to make it to New York City. Why? you ask. Well Len and I, being English, were concerned about being tourists and the safety issue. Well, we need not have worried.
We were meeting family there. Prior to our flight, we phoned the hotel to see how much transportation to the hotel would be. They suggested a yellow cab, which would cost around $25-$30. Exchange rate $1.83 to the £.
So we get outside of the airport and see the sign for yellow ...

I went to New York for three days as part of a longer trip around the States recently. It was my first visit, and I want to share with you what a great place it is.
I flew American Airlines into JFK airport, landing at about 8 pm, knowing that I had at least an hours journey on the subway to where I was staying. This was a bit scary, as I was travelling alone. You hear plenty of horroh stories about the subway, and I have to admit to feeling a ...
