    I first visited New York City in 1999 and was blown away by the buzz I got from the place. Since that trip I have been back seven times and have another trip planned for springtime next year. On that first trip I was really green – it was only my second trip to the US and New York offered a stark contrast to the two other cities I had visited – San Francisco and Las Vegas. New York seemed more European yet altogether more brash.     Probably the most famous city in the world, New York is a popular tourist destination for those visiting the United States, and is just an eight hour flight from London. Comprised of Manhattan, along with the four outer boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and the Bronx, it's almost impossible to take everything in on a single visit, and a return trip will be essential. I recently spent six days in the city, and although we didn't venture outside Manhattan (except to get to and from the airport), I'm already convinced I want to return again soon.     Advantages Advantages Plenty of things to keep you occupied, free wi-fi in times square, nice prices, good food.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Some rude folk here and there, so little time to see everything and can be crowded.

    New York is a very popular city for many reasons; for lovely buildings, shops and for the general city life. It's sometimes known as the city that never sleeps. Yesterday I returned from a week in New York withe the college class. We stayed in Gershwin Hotel located in 7 East 27th street in Manhattan. I thought it was amusing and ironic that the college had booked us in a hotel next to a place called Museum Of Sex. The room I stayed in was rather pleasant despite the freaky showers.     Disadvantages Disadvantages so much to do but so little time

    There are some places that just have to be visited at least once in your life. New York is the kind of city that needs to be visited at least twice! If anyone asked me prior to my visit to New York in May if you could visit one place in the world where would it be? Without hesitation I'd answer New York. If you asked me that question now the answer would still be New York When most people think of New York they think of one of the five boroughs - Manhattan.     When I first entered New York, I carried a weird suitcase, I mean, travel bag, well, really a kind of a shopping bag on wheels which I didn’t exactly carry, but dragged behind me. It made a terrible noise. I was wearing a chequered red and blue coat and a blue shawl covered with green exotic flowers. Afro-American men (or maybe completely African) were playing drums in underground corridors. People hurried somewhere paying no or little attention to my loud bag or their African drums.     The Big Apple, a city that never sleeps... I always wanted to visit New York, it looked glamorous, exciting, on the down side, following September 11th, it had an added touch, a touch which took away what New York once was all about. However, i still wanted to visit New York, and last September i managed to visit the great city which stood tall and proud. We didn't specifically plan to visit New York during their first anniversary, its just how the trip was arranged.     New York. Everyone knows about it, everyone has their own opinion of it, but here's mine: I've been to New York about 8 times now, and I'm due to be going again for a long weekend in 2 weeks time as a sort of post-21st birthday celebration. I think New York is definitely a city to be enjoyed either on your own or with a close friend - someone with whom you share interests. Because it's so big, if you're not wanting to do the same things, you will be spending an awful lot of time doing something you don't want to.     Thought I'd be the first one to break in this subject having recently returned from a holiday in New York. I stayed with an old school friend in Queens & he had been living there a few months with obviously gave me a bonus on the clubbing front - bit of inside info! First thing to do when you get there is grab a copy of Time out & all the other club papers. New York is jam packed with clubs, restaurants bars etc a bit like London so plenty to choose from! I remember coming home with the milkman a few times anyhow! Couple of places I can think of off hand that were good are Greenwich Village ... more

    Everything you've ever seen or heard about New York City is true, this is without a doubt the biggest, busiest, most exciting city in the world. Yes - there really are that many yellowcabs, yes - there really is a hot dog vendor on every street corner, yes - there really is steam coming up from vents in the street and yes - the skyscrapers really are THAT big!     Disadvantages Disadvantages Be aware of your safety, and know where you are going and how to get back.

    I would begin by having cocktails in the Rainbow Rooms at the top of the Rockefellar Plaza, fabulous views as seen in 'Sleepless in Seattle' etc, BUT make you you are dressed in your very best, I got turned away for wearing shorts OOps! They were smart shorts! Then hail a cab and go to Greenwich village for some pasta and then park yourself for the rest of the evening in one of the many bars that has live entertainment, you could find somewhere quite easily just strolling around.
