Advantages Advantages Fun holiday resort with exceptional Waterfalls

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get extremely busy in summer months

As some of you will know last year I was fortunate to holiday in Canada, staying with friends who live and work in Toronto and with two fantastic people as tour guides I had a holiday of a lifetime. One of the highlights of my holiday was my three-day visit to Niagara Falls more precisely the Niagara Region. Both my friends knew the region well considering both had relatives in the area and had visited the Falls many, many times before, so who better to show me the splendours of the resort. Niagara Falls has a multitude of attractions, sights and events, far too many to record here but I shall ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of different attractions

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit downmarket in places

Niagara has long been on my 'to do' list, so I was happy for my departure from Mexico to coincide with a stop-over in Toronto and, thus, a trip to the falls. I was lucky to be taken there by a friend I made on my Christmas tour of Costa Rica. As Toronto residents for about 6 years, she and her mother had been there before, but not for some time, and were happy to return. I had originally planned to take a one-day guided tour from Toronto, which would have cost about $70 and involved an early-ish departure. We left a little later, just after 9am, and this was a good choice since we missed most ... more

Advantages Advantages A real “must see”, not too expensive

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Surrounding area

It’s funny isn’t it? When it’s dark, raining, you’re in a strange place, really tired (and desperate for the toilet), you see things a completely different light. Here we were arriving at what’s supposed to be one of the most beautiful locations in the world and all I could think was “this place is a complete shit-hole”. FIRST IMPRESSIONS Perhaps I should take a step back. On a Saturday evening in early May we visited the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada (review on its way) as part of a 5 day break with my best friend, Andrew. At the tower we’d had a jolly nice relaxing dinner while gently ... more

    Advantages Advantages An unforgettable experience

    Disadvantages Disadvantages You'll get wet!

Last November I was lucky enough to take a short break in Canada. We visited Toronto first and stayed for four days - just long enough to see the city and do plenty of pre-Christmas shopping. Very nice it was too. One of the things that we just had to do while we were there was to take a trip to Niagara Falls. The Falls are about 85 miles outside Toronto. You can hire a car and drive there easily from the city or if you prefer there are numerous organised tours that you can take. There’s also quite a good bus service or you can take the train from Union Street station in downtown Toronto. I’m ... more

Advantages Advantages A fun filled day that packs loads in

Disadvantages Disadvantages Shabby customer service from the helicopter company

Visiting Niagara Falls for the first time evokes dreams that have been instilled upon the conscience. Whether you have been told tales or seen shots in Hollywood movies, it is a tourist attraction that everybody has some knowledge of. Getting there - I started off in Toronto and joined a bus running day trips to Niagara. There is a different viewpoint if you travel from America where day trips are available from New York. However, I had been led to believe that the experience is enhanced on the Canadian side. The trip that I took was with JoJo Tours and runs daily from Canadiana Backpackers ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of ways to see the falls, Reasonable prices

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Clifton Hill

Most times the first visit of an incredible tourist attraction is always going to be the best experience you will ever have – so we absolutely made the most of this first time experience but at the end of it and when it was time to leave, I really felt I wanted to return back to view it all over again! I think Niagara Falls is going to be my exception and I think no matter how many times it’s seen, this natural phenomenon may always be as outstanding and stunning as the first visit! Below is my experience of visiting the falls. The falls Niagara Falls is at times referred to as the second ... more

Advantages Advantages Spectacular, lots of things to do

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be expensive

I visited here on my recent trip to Canada back in October and part of me thought "it's just a big waterfall, how exciting can it be"? When I got there though that former thought was turned on its head. Although this was not the main part of my trip, since I had to fly into Toronto and I was so close I could not resist extending my holiday for a day trip to here from Toronto. At Niagara, there are three distinct sets of waterfalls spanning Canada + the US (the Horseshoe Falls, named because of their shape) and mainland US with Goat Island, a small island separated from mainland USA by the ... more

I was lucky enough to stumble across the Falls on my somewhat Homerian Odyssey through Canada (long story!). They are a couple of hours from Toronto, an easy day trip and you probably don't need more than a day there. The thing that remains most vivid about the Falls themselves is that I could hear them long before I could see them. The amount of noise such a flow of water makes surprised me, at least. Also, the levels of mist rising from the main falls was substantial, and this allows the rainbows to appear. I was told that if you made a wish when you first see the falls and you later see a ... more

Advantages Advantages Out of this World Experience, Value For Money, Breathtaking

Disadvantages Disadvantages Always full of tourists!!

Niagara Falls has two falls the Canadian Falls and the American Falls, I visited the Canadian Falls which are also described as the Horseshoe Falls due to the shape of them way back in 1721. At 52m (170ft high) they are slightly higher than the American Falls located on the Buffalo Side in America which are 56m (189ft high) and 12,000 years ago the Canadian falls were located 7miles downstream from their present location and less than 10% of the water flows over the American Falls with the blance flowing over the Horseshoe falls (Canadian Falls) and it is the massive volume of water that ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of Water, cheap and cheerful

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Gets slightly repetetive

When deciding where to go on holiday this year we thought that going somewhere far away and different was better than going local. After searching for weeks we finally decided to go to Canada and visit the wonderous Niagra Falls. After a bit of studying we found out that there are actually two falls, the original Canadian falls and also the American Horseshoe falls right next door. Upon arrival the area seemed very different to what we were expecting. Almost like a mini blackpool the main street is full of things to do - snack bars, restaurants and icecream huts line the street. Theres many ... more
