Advantages: Close to the Egyptian Museum and other interesting places Disadvantages: Compared to the other hotels it was on the expensive side - but well worth it
We stayed at the Nile Hilton in Cairo for just 12 hours on the way back from a diving trip in the Red Sea. Even though we were only there for a few hours I was really impressed with the efficient and friendly service of the staff. I didn't have to lift a finger. We even got to experience a traditional Egyptian wedding that took place while we were there. The restaurants were also very clean, there were several to choose from and not too expensive. Breakfast was an 'all you can eat' buffet with a large choice of foods in the Café; we had our evening meals at the Italian ... ...The gift shop at the Nile Hilton was a gem - all the staff spoke English, the main shopkeeper was friendly and chatty (in a nice, ordinary way) and the prices were very reasonable (they sell post cards and stamps and the postcards even arrived home long before we did). The guides etc tell you not to buy at the hotels too dear etc. Utter crap! The guides receive commission from the shops they take you to and unfortunately here live the really pushy ...
