It was for four days and three nights and cost £330 all inclusive this included an outside cabin, (a window cabin), all meals some buffet some a la Carte, our own guide, (English speaking Egyptologist), all the trips and entrance charges to the temples and museums. There was only six of us altogether from ...

...the widow and seeing the Nile and the scenery pass by. The size of the room, while a bit awkward, wasn't much of a problem as we didn't spend much time in it apart from sleeping.
The boat itself is looking a bit tired, it could certainly do with a refit. I have heard that they are scrapping it at the end of the season. Viking II is a four star boat. Day Two
=======
The second day we really had a full itinerary. First thing after breakfast we were picked up by coach and taken to the unfinished Obelisk. This is one of the tall pointed objects which are carved out of a single piece of rock, the same design as Cleopatra's needle in London. It is unfinished because it cracked while they were cutting it out of the rock. It would have been one of the ...

NILE CRUISE: PART TWO
***********************
Having had a fair number of favourable comments on my first attempt at a Ciao review, and having re-read my offering, and those of the much more experienced reviewers here, I thought I'd put a little more flesh on its bones, as it were; beefed up by some of our more personal experiences, and a little more detail in terms of the sights encountered on our last little jaunt into the larger world. I'll ... ...of a small fleet of Nile cruisers operated by a German company, www.grand-cruises.com , which company had been subcontracted by Panorama Holidays to provide the Cruise element of our holiday. Board basis was All-Inclusive. (!). The website above may give you some idea of the style of the ships on the Nile. They are much like beefed-up Mississippi Steamships, minus the rear paddle-wheel but with added Germans.
Consequently, the vast majority of our ...

...A warm welcome on our Nile boat, our cabins were small, neat and clean. The reception was comfortable and pleasant. We went just after 9/11 and just fell into the 6 weeks non cancellation period, so we took the chance. Everyone said we were mad! The Aton – Nile Cruiser
The crew was fantastic. It worked out at least one crew member per holiday maker. Our man never failed to amaze me with his wonderful skills with towel folding, Day after day there was a little treat on the bed, rose petals, a towel tied up to look like my husband with a cigarette in it’s mouth. It was all good fun. The boat had a small swimming pool on the top deck; there was only one child on board, not a holiday ...

Advantages: History and having a Thomson rep at all times Disadvantages: too short
I went on a Nile Cruise with Thomson. It was a five star boat part of the Presidential line called the Nile Commodore.
In the brochure the details included all excusions which were packed into the 7 days, I thought oh yea dragged around from tomb to tomb but it was booked so off we went.
We arrived to a wonderful friendly greeting. Thomson had a rep on board who came everywhere with us and was always around to help. Not a pretty young thing with ... ...well respected by all the crew.
The boat was fantastic wood panelling everywhere and whenever you say members of the crew they greeted you warmly.
Our 2 cabin boys met us and introduced themselves and evry morning and night we went in to a spotless room with the beds made in the morning or turned down at night. 4 Egyptian guides travelled with us and we divided into groups of about 30 people and stayed with our guide.
The week was magical far ...

The Nile looks like a snake, as it is not as wide as I had imagined it would be. When the River reaches Khartoum it becomes one River that has two sources, (the Blue Nile from Ethiopia and the White Nile from Lake Victoria in Kenya). ...week long cruise down the Nile going out in December and including 10 free excursions for £399! This was advertised with a company called Discover Egypt that I had never heard of. I thought that this was far too good to be true and that there must be a catch.

We have just returned from an amazing holiday on the upper Nile. We booked through Cosmos and they used a Flash International boat called Magic 1. The boat was clean, tidy and realatively plush. The crew were friendly and always ready for a joke.
