Never again!

Advantages: We didn't have to pay - it was a prize
Disadvantages: Bad service, poor rooms, dangerous wiring etc

...read an opinion on the Norbreck Castle Hotel at Blackpool I realised that we weren’t the only people to be very disappointed with the place so I thought I’d let you know our experience of the place. First of all I will tell you a bit about the place. It is situated on the seafront at the far northern end of the promenade at Blackpool, so it is well out of town, which is great if you like to be away from the noise and commercialisation that is Blackpool. ...
...you might expect from the Norbreck Castle, now for the reality! Dave and I won a night’s stay here a couple of years ago as part of our prize from the Pleasure Beach to be amongst the first to ride Valhalla on it’s opening day. We had already booked a couple of nights at our favourite hotel The Imperial and this prize just happened to be the preceding night – how co-incidental can you get? We thought that we were extending our luxury break by an ...

Good hotel, will be going again.

Advantages: Close to beach, nice rooms and pleasant staff.
Disadvantages: Not very good views and expensive drinks

Proof That Bigger Doesn't Necesarily Mean Better

Advantages: Looks great from the outside
Disadvantages: Everything on the inside

...it means that places like Norbreck Castle Hotel need to come across as even more attractive if they want to woo a percentage of Blackpools intake, and by making the prices as a cheap as possible in such a respect. It is this reason why I am so inclined to kick this place. On a positive note, you may be forgiven for saying that Norbreck Castle Hotel is relatively cheap for a large hotel (just cross the road and have a gander at how much the Hilton ...
...mean) and from the outside the hotel certainly looks attractive and grand (well from a distance anyways) but as my title suggests- bigger doesn't always mean better which will become apparent once you have checked in and received your keys. I have a fussy family and without trying to come across as shallow regarding the other places to stay in Blackpool we wanted a place that would be as enjoyable to stay in than the actual resort activities themselves ...

Norbreck Castle Hotel

Advantages: Out of the town
Disadvantages: Too many people!

I'm glad that I did not get to read any of the reviews before I went to this hotel, or see the Holidays from Hell programme the night before! The hotel can be found along the seafront, about three miles from the main centre of Blackpool, heading out towards Fleetwood. It is now under the Britannia hotels group and it is easily accessible by tram and bus. We used the trams the whole time instead of me driving all the time. My husband, my two youngest ...
...nights, after finding an advert which gave a special price of £35 per person dinner bed and breakfast per night. The two children were included free of charge, including their meals. The advert did state that the hotel was ungoing a £7million pound upgrade, and that some services may not be available. This did not deter us as we had plenty we were wanting to do in Blackpool itself. We arrived well before booking in time, and if we had needed to ...

Fawlty towers deserves 5 * after this

Advantages: it is a roof over your head
Disadvantages: The whole Hotel

We went to blackpool to meet the father in law and brother in law for the weekend with the kids one 7 months and 1 3 years old. My wife had booked the hotel because it looked really decent on checking in. Well let me guide you throught the experience: Checking in at reception: This was actually ok, the staff were very friendly and the main reception looked really clean and organised. We checked in and booked the dinner sitting for £12.50 per head ...
...up to the room was one of those posh types that you get in five star hotels so was quite curious as to the room but the we got to the 5th floor. it was like one of those science fiction horror movies when you step out of an elevator into one of those caves filled with flesh eating alliens. It was dark and dingy with the paint coming off the wall. All I noticed as we went along the corridor was when people opened their doors to come out of their room ...

My partner is a hotel inspector and we walked!

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: try no windows or natural light in rooms for one thing!

Firsty my partner who for a living visits the best 4* and 5* hotels all over the UK as either the guest of the hotel group or the local tourist board as she brings Russians to the UK to spend some of that money they make from oil. 9/10 times although invited to an area, she actually goes and makes the visit unannounced as a paying customer. Blackpool tourist board invited her to come to Blackpool as they thought her client group would want to come ...
...Ok that's the background and I went with her as the room she booked was priced per room not per person. She decided on this hotel as it was recommended by the tourist office as the sort of place perfect for the higher end holidaymaker. She was aware it was part of the Britania hotel group which included an awful central Manchester hotel which she has already removed from recommendations for Russian tourist due to the late night hookers knocking ...

Norbreck Castle Hotel - Armish Paradise

Advantages: It has 18 wheeler in the arcade!
Disadvantages: It has secret communes of people hidden away...

...Holidays and were given The Norbreck Castle as a dwelling place! I got onto the net and couldn't believe my luck when I was presented with beautiful pictures of a fantastic castle with amazing facilities! We travelled down on the coach looking forward to our stay at this amazing castle! The coach arrived and my jaw quite simply hit the floor. It looks like an eastern european prison. The driver on the coach then announced, "Oh, and by the way folks, ...
...In the back of The Norbreck Castle Hotel is a very well hidden, massive commune of Jews. Why? I have absolutely no idea. I personally have nothing against Jews or anything. But there was a remarkable number of them skulking around in secret at the back of the hotel. It was as if they were trying to hide - and every room they were in was emblazened with "KEEP OUT" signs. I was like the Gremilns movie, were a particuar type of being would hide away ...

Norbreck... what now?

Advantages: Family friendly, quiet
Disadvantages: not that good value for money

...ray of sunshine to the Norbreck Castle. You usually get a cheery greeting, but it doesnt really help too much when you do see the state of your expensive room. I must say also that now the gym has be refurbished, this is one of the enhanced features. The pool isnt very big, but it does look quite stylish and relaxing. Prices at the norbreck castle start from £30 per night for the little single box rooms in low season (any time that isnt christmas, ...
...suite and family rooms. All in all, its ok if you like that sort of thing. I wasnt too struck and quit working there after 1 month. I expect it has changed since I worked there, and I am not trying to make out that this is the worst hotel to stay in in Blackpool. Believe me there's worse! I dont think its excellent value for money. Its away from the busy town centre though so if you want a relaxing holiday where you can get some sleep at night, ...

Norbreck Castle Hotel - Blackpool

Advantages: Late bar and all you can eat food
Disadvantages: Too far to the town

...two-night weekend break at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool through National Coach Holidays on 19 November 2004. The brochure described the break as being ‘All inclusive’ and we looked forward to fact that we would be able to drink copious amounts of alcohol for free (and why not!). We paid £89.00 for two night’s dinner, bed and breakfast with drinks also included from 7.30pm – 10.30pm in one of the three bars in the hotel. When we arrived ...

Not that Bad

Advantages: Cheap Beer, Good Entertainment for older people
Disadvantages: Far away from centre, Too orientated on older people

I went to the Norbreck Castle hotel with my boyfriend for a cheap holiday before we depart ways for university. When we arrived the receptionist who was a youngish man with a sty above his eye, told us that we hadnt booked in through the system and that the printed out details from a email was only a garauntee not a confirmation. We told him that the money had been taken out of my boyfriends mums account and so it was more than a garauntee. He disappeared ...

I was starting to get worried. Another receptionist came out of the back office to tell us that everything was ok and that we had been upgraded so we now had a jacuzzi. We thought that this was a polite thing to offer us and decided not to make a complaint about ...

Avoid like the plague!

Advantages: Being able to warn potential inmates to avoid the place!
Disadvantages: Having wasted an hour of our holiday there

We made the terrible mistake of not reading the (mostly) accurate disparaging reviews of this awful hotel and booking a 3 night stay there at the last minute. Once we had waited an hour for the check-in queue to die down we were allocated a room right next to the extractor fans of the attached bar. When we asked for a replacement the next room was also next to hotel aircon fans (with the place being almost full we must have been given the "in desperation" ...

However Wor Lass being of no-nonsense Yorkshire stock insisted on seeing the manager and they caved and gave a full refund (he wouldn't come out). Other guests we spoke to were having a horrible time - banging pipes, people shouting to each other at 4am from rooms either side of them (honestly, we can't make this stuff up!), yet ...

Advantages: rooms disabled friendly
Disadvantages: heavy fire doors that are hard to go through with a chair

...of us have used the Norbreck Hotel. 2 carers and 2 disabled service users, and we can't fault the hotel at all, apart fromt he first time where centre booking had forgot to bok us into the disabled rooms, but since it was an over night stay we coped as best we could. Norbeck castle - stay only if you have to

Advantages: Good for conventions
Disadvantages: shabby, very expensive, run down, under staffed, far out of town

...impossible to find on the norbreck website. I honestly feel the only reason this hotel is still there, is the massive events it stages, in its conference facilities, and people will pay for the convenience. Will I go back.............I'd like to say no.....but......if the event goes back there I may, but at least I will know what to expect this time, and will certainly not book any extra days like i did this time. ...

My stay at the Norbeck

Advantages: the food was really good
Disadvantages: too many!!

Myself and my family stayed at the Norbeck last week. The hotel was under alot of construction work for the high season period, non of which was mentioned whilst booking. We stayed there for 2 nights, and they were the worst 2 nights we have ever had.... The temperature throughout the building was soooo hot, we sat at dinner exhausted from the heat looking around at everyones red faces. The nights were unbearable so I soaked towels to cover the untouchable ...
...said they would... but didnt, later discovered they couldnt as OAP's and disability guests were staying so it had to be on full! The room which we stayed in was dirty, bath had cracks in, wardrobe falling to bits, and the wondows were so dirty it looked constantly misty outside. All of blackpool was closed down as it was not in season, grrr just a waste of money and time. We ended up going to fleetwood and shopping, something of which we could of ...
