I used to live in Nottingham myself, on Mapperley Road just outside the city centre! It's actually classed as Mapperley Park the area although its around five to ten minutes from the city itself! I moved there with an X - girlfriend in October 2003, as she was studying physchology at Nottingham Univertsity. Ok, people told me I was mad and it was a crazy place to go especially at the young age of 18. I ignored them and hopped on the train and started ... ...if you do go to Nottingham ever just for the novelty value of actually having a beer in a church it put a lump in my throat sometimes, lol! Very spacious, there are some nice spots in there where you can get out of the way incase you do want to speak to the guy or girl you have just pulled! Like I said though very pricey! The Pit & Pendulum: -
Another novelty pub/bar, it has a gothic twist to the place. Serving such cocktails as 'Seven Deadly Sins', ...

...as just another suburb of Nottingham itself) for six years. It’s roughly 8 miles north of Nottingham itself and very close to the M1 Motorway (Junction 26 and 27). The population is somewhere around 30,000, but as this is an ex-mining community it’s a drab little place really. This is a great shame as it has a lot of potential, as I will explain later. The main thing Hucknall has going for it is its History and I think I’ll start with that stuff ... ...Town centre and Aldi’s on Nottingham Road. Now Aldi’s is crappy, Safeway I’ve already covered in another op (shameless plug there), but as it’s so bad it barely counts as a supermarket. There’s also a couple of Co-ops, but your average corner shop would be better stocked/run. The town centre boasts an extraordinary number of Charity shops and woman’s clothes stores and not a lot else strangely. We do have a small branch of Boots, a bakery and a couple ...

...with this legendary hero Nottingham has much more to offer than just its famous outlaw.
Positioned right in the heart of the East Midlands, Nottingham once boasted one of the finest lace and textile industrial areas in the country. Nottingham lace is still sold in the markets today and the city is very proud of its lace market area which is now a buzzing cultural and educational centre full of museums and stylish office blocks.

Admission is free during the week, with a small charge on weekends.Outside the castle is a big bronze statue of Mr Hood himself. If it is shopping you would like we can provide with four major shopping centres, although I've only ever visited the first two, the Victoria Centre, the Broadmarsh shopping centre, the Exchange Arcade and the Flying Horse Walk. I visit Nottingham quite frequently, basically just to go shopping and to go out there.
I love the place, when we visit we normally stay in hotel called the Lace Market, which has been open for just over a year. This is small modern boutique type hotel with an excellent Michelin Starred Restaurant. Although not cheap averages about £80 a night for a room sometimes including breakfast sometimes not.

Thirdly, out of Nottingham there is great countryside, go 30 mins and you are on the edge of the peak district.
The hussle and bussle of London is not there but you still feel as if you are in a happening city. So, visit, or if you are looking for a London escape, go.
Oh and things are also cheaper. ...

Nottingham. Famous for some bloke in a poncey green hat and tights with a bow and arrow. Oh, and some permanently drunken football manager bloke. But there is more to the city than that. As a tourist attraction, ok, the city is all about Robin Hood and precious little else - though I should perhaps include the Galleries of Justice, the Caves of Nottinghm, some exceedingly old pubs (the Trip to Jerusalem and the Salutation) and the Lace Museum as well, ... ...of Mr. Hood. As a sporting centre, well - we've had better years here. Since forest self-destructed a few years ago there hasn't been any premiership football in the city - just first and second division (some might say third rate....) football. The cricket ground is still going strong with the (apparently) 'World Renowned Trent Bridge Inn' (it says so on the sign) on the corner of the ground - renowned for the fact that nobody goes there since Bass ...

I moved to Nottingham to go to University and remember being told in my first seminar that Nottingham is the City where more students stay on and get jobs after finishing their courses than any other City. Nottingham is the centre of the East Midlands, and offers a selection of High Street shops, along with a plethora of bars and pubs, together with the long and illustrious history and legends associated with the castle, which is nicely located on the outskirts of the centre of town. Unlike many attractions in the UK, it is free to enter during the week, and only asks a couple of pounds per adult at weekends. It is said that there are 365 pubs in Nottingham, ...

I moved to Nottingham last September to begin a University at Nottingham Trent. I had never visited the city before but had heard good things, such as it is the city where most graduates stay on to work. This is completely true! Nottingham is a great city - full of life, shops, pubs and culture! Sometimes the references to Robin Hood can get a bit much but if you go with the flow and enjoy it for what it is you'll fall in love with the place. I've been in Nottingham for a year now (give or take a couple of weeks). I moved here (from Norfolk, via Hull) when I got a new job - I had no idea what the city was like and didn't know anyone. A year on I've made loads of friends, I'm out all the time and there is always something going on in or near the city centre.
Nottingham is great. Plenty for everyone to do from shopping, pubs, clubs, the castle, museums, parks, country homes, Sherwood Forest ... ...has it's problems but as yet (touch wood) I haven't had any trouble - even travelling home on the night bus.
Public Transport is fast and inexpensive, it's right on the M1, there are several cinema's (a 13 screen complex is in the process of being built), a number of live venues including the Royal Concert Hall, Theatre and the new Ice Stadium.
If you've never been make a weekend of it and do all the sights and test out some of the public houses! ...

Nottingham has got a seriously varied range of clubs for all tastes of music and partying. The most recent addition has been the arrival of the super-club "Media".
