Would you "Hallam and Eve" it?

Advantages: Good food, free parking, ideal for the city centre and Sheffield Hallam University
Disadvantages: No wake-up call or newspaper, limited free parking, if you don't post your ticket you risk getting clamped

...was in stark contrast to Novotel, Maastricht where I had to go down on bended knees. I completed a comprehensive registration form requiring details of almost everything but my bra size and produced the credit card for authorisation. You are responsible for stating your early morning call time and what newspaper you want. I was then issued with the room key card and form for charging extras to the room, and despatched with directions to the 5th floor. ...
...thinking I had been transported back to the Novotel Coventry, the room was identical; the Coventry outlet was being refurbished, but I didn’t see any evidence of that here. The hotel is on five floors and I had the privilege of a 5th floor room, with an interesting view of the University and the street below. Just as in Coventry, I was glad to see the smoking rooms were at the end of the corridors. The room itself was en-suite with a bath/power ...

A Big Day At The Sheffield Novotel!

Advantages: Excellent Food, Central Location.
Disadvantages: Poor Bar Service, Limited Parking.

When one of my best friends got married yesterday (Sunday 19th December 2005) the location that she chose was the Novotel in Sheffield. This location was chosen for the entire day, which included the Civil Wedding at 2.30pm, the meal afterwards at 4pm and the evening reception which started at 7.30pm. The first thing that I will say before I begin this review is that I live less than a 5 minute walk away from this Hotel, which is conveniently situated ...
...didn't actually stay here. This review is therefore based on my own opinions as seen from a non paying guest. My friend was staying at the Novotel (with her sister) on the Saturday night as well as her Wedding night the following day so I first went to this Hotel on Saturday night for a pre wedding drink. FIRST IMPRESSIONS The Novotel is a very modern looking building , and from the outside it has a large glass front and a small car park underneath. ...

In a word, GO

Advantages: fantastic facilities at great cost
Disadvantages: not one

A year ago I found myself on a spur of the moment road trip to sheffield, i needed to find a place to stay and Novotel stood out from the rest as it was a large building hosting what would appear to be many rooms, always a must when arriving unnanounced. From the outside it appeared to be a high priced nicely maintained hotel, which made me think it would have a price to match. On closer inspection the hotel sported a nice large heated indoor swimming ...
...the lobby was however very large and included a dining area and bar, all of which were very smart, but not so much so that i felt underdressed or uncomfortable. The cost of one double room for the night was £60, and one would imagine the same for a twin which included a full english breakfast, i felt this price reached the criteria of someone like myself, travelling on a budget that could buy comfort and a bit of luxury but without going over the ...

Novotel Sheffield

Advantages: Central
Disadvantages: Limited parking

As my son is studying at Sheffield University we have sampled a few of the hotels Sheffield has to offer and the Novotel is one we have used more than once. For anyone visiting Sheffield for the first time, the traffic system can be a little confusing so the situation of the Novotel makes it attractive to visitors. Once you've negotiated Park Square and actually managed to turn left into Arundel Gate you have to drive passed the hotel on the opposite ...
...back along Arundel Gate the opposite way to gain entrance to the hotel. Each time we've visited there have been roadworks on or near the roundabout and this can cause problems. The hotel is clearly visible when you approach but the inside lane is buses only so you have to cut across the bus lane to get into the hotel. Parking is either underneath the hotel or a few spaces are available directly outside the door. It is quite a modern building and ...

Novotel, Sheffield - Excellent on site parking and lovely staff

Advantages: Close to city centre and restaurants.
Disadvantages: No smoking hotel -

My experience of the Novotel was an excellent one. On arrival the car parking is attached to the hotel and available at a reasonable rate. The reception area is lovely and clean (reminiscent of hotel babylon in a good way). You need to take a lift/stairs up to the first floor. But nice wide open space when you're there. Rooms are good standard. Restaurant and shops are within 5 minute walking distance. I was a smoker at the time - so only let down ...
