Advantages: Fabulous fresh air, fun and family time Disadvantages: You need to book activities early
We recently returned to Centerparcs for a mid-week break. We had previously visited late November and it was lovely to return in a different season. We had enjoyed our previous visit so much and were so impressed with how well they catered for young families and accommodated our son's food allergies that we just had to go back. I know this review is quite long but feel it has to be to tell you about the vast array of things Centerparcs in Whinfell ...

Advantages: Loads to do, weather doesn't matter, very beautiful setting Disadvantages: Very expensive in summer, but reasonable in winter
...Penrith (M6 - Junction 40), Oasis is set in 400 acres of forest in the Lake District. It is a beautiful, enclosed, safe environment, and the accommodation and facilities are outstanding.
Lodges are placed in 'clusters' throughout the forest, and range from a one bed apartment to a four bed luxury timber house with galleried landing, 2/3 bathrooms (some with whirlpool baths), microwave, dishwasher, washer-dryer, satellite telly, log fire, lovely ...

Advantages: Things to do Disadvantages: Could get busy, Pool area could be warmer
...we booked our trip to Oasis I wasn’t convinced. The girlfriend wanted a weekend away. Great I thought - Amsterdam here we come, work had been tough and I felt I needed a bit of break. Ah but hang on a minute we want a weekend in this country and also on the cheap!
There was something about the place that scared me – I had a horrible feeling she would have me traipsing around on Mountain Bikes 24 hours a day and hunting Squirrel’s ...

...so many endless activaties at Oasis that you will have to look hard to find a better all round family holiday. Other activaties inc Quad biking, Horse Riding, Ice skating and much more.
Most things are reasonably priced, and entrance to the world of water is free. There is a really nice warm pub near to the country club, I forget its name but you can't miss it. The food is excellent, real big portions and really yummy!
I would recommend this ...

I have visited Oasis many times at various times of year in all weathers. At Oasis, it really doesn't matter what the weather is doing and I find it most enjoyable in the depth of the winter when the frost settles on the branches of the trees, fog closes in the atmosphere adn the drizzle barely reaches you through the thickness of the trees.
Since Oasis became Centreparcs however, prices have increased making a peak ...

Oasis Whinfell Review ofOasis Holiday Village, Lake Districtby

Advantages: family orientated, beautiful setting Disadvantages: very expensive
...recently went on holiday to oasis whinfell, which is located in the Lake District about 15 minutes from Penrith. It took us just over 2 hours to travel there from Ayr, Scotland. The Park itself is set in acres of woodland with a small lake in the centre. There are lots of footpaths and cycle routes throughout the woods and the wildlife is amazing, there are squirrels and rabbits that just sit at the edge of the paths and watch you go by.
On arrival ...

cycle city Review ofOasis Holiday Village, Lake Districtby

Advantages: nice looking accomodation, places to explore in the forest Disadvantages: pool
I've been to Oasis twice now, most recently earlier this year. Oais is near Penrith in Cumbria. It's advertised as being by the Lake District, which is correct, since its not actually in it, but you could always do a half day trip into the "Lakes District", as Tony likes to call it, if you wanted to. Penrith is at the northern edge of the Lakes, so if you are travelling from the south, its a day's drive. Penrith also has a train station and the taxi ...

Heavenly Holidays Review ofOasis Holiday Village, Lake Districtby

Advantages: Loads of activities. Disadvantages: None in my opinion.
Oasis is a brilliant place to go for a 2 week holiday or just a long weekend. It's situated off the A66 near Penrith on the edge of the lake district national park. Oasis is surrounded in acre upon acre of beautiful forest and countryside.
I went for May day weekend last year with my family and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much that we are going again this year.
There are hundreds of things to do, such as ice-skating, rollerblading, tennis, squash, ...

What can i say after the 6 hour jouney to get there, and when we saw that lodge, (security lodge) i thought at last TOILET!!, but No we had to drive another bit to come to the drive thru check in, this seemed to take ages, but anyway hassle free it was.
we made our way to the butterfly center which is not how i remember it from 5 years ago, A vast improvment i feel to what it was,
for a couple i would find it ideal and for kids too, but for youngsters ...

...or Antigua....it is Penrith and Oasis Holiday Village.
I first encountered Oasis after a drunken dinner with friends, who were not local to us and so we all agreed to have a short break with our two youngsters (6yrs and 6 months) and their two youngsters (4 years and 6 months. The reality in the morning after the initial shock of the hangover was the fact that we were all going to share a "cabin" for 4 nights, Mon-Fri in the lake district area ...

Advantages: Lots to do, good for all seasons Disadvantages: can end up very expensive
I have been to Oasis near Penrith 4 times now and have had a really enjoyed it each time.
At first you wonder how on earth you will find your way around and more importantly how you will find the way back to your lodge as they all look the same! In no time, however, you find yourself zipping around on one of the hired bikes watching those that have just arrived looking slightly lost.
The lodges are comfortable, and have a log fire for those ...

Advantages: A very good place with lots to do Disadvantages: Evening Entertanment costs extra
I think oasis is a very good family resort with lots of activitys to do.
All of the views are excellent insted of having views of lots of lodgets they are all hidden in trees so you cant see as much with I think is very good as you don't want to see lots of lodges (you see enough walking around the complex)
All of the entertanment is very good.
Oasis dose get very noise with it being on the flight path for the air force but you do get use ...

Oasis winfel forrest, after the annoying check in in some sort of car office and arrival then parking your car for a week then you get to the point where oyu pull out the map and see where you are and how far you have to walk to places.
Unlike the other center parks in england there is a huge distance between the sports center and the bars and restraunt complex. I wasnt bothered but for soembody a bit older that 800 metre (rough guess) walk can be ...

Advantages: Beautiful area, plenty to do for all the family Disadvantages: staff untrained and unhelpful
This Center Parcs is situated in the most beautiful scenery in the U.K. However in comparison to thr Parcs in France and Holland we found it to be shabby and the staff were poorly trained. The pool area was to cold to use during most of our week long stay. The restaurants were too busy some nights and on other nights the staff cleaned up around us at 10.30pm!
Our lodge was in dire need of refurbishment with holes in the sofa and graffitti on the ...
