Centerparcs in Spring

Advantages: Fabulous fresh air, fun and family time
Disadvantages: You need to book activities early

We recently returned to Centerparcs for a mid-week break. We had previously visited late November and it was lovely to return in a different season. We had enjoyed our previous visit so much and were so impressed with how well they catered for young families and accommodated our son's food allergies that we just had to go back. I know this review is quite long but feel it has to be to tell you about the vast array of things Centerparcs in Whinfell ...

Details required are the names of each group member including age as well as your vehicle registration number, estimated time of arrival and details of all bikes you plan to take onto the site. This massively reduces the check-in time on arrival. ARRIVAL We ...

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The- Countryside?

Advantages: Location, Service, Staff, Accomodation
Disadvantages: Couldn't find any

...Center Parcs and especially the Oasis Holiday Village. My own father used to work here as the manager of the cleaning department, a department which still maintains top quality I must add. Anyways, since the dreaded credit crunch British holidaymakers have chosen alternative resolutions to flying abroad. The British holiday is now as popular as ever, with places like Butlins and Haven filling up like the beaches on a bank holiday weekend. Whilst ...
...the holiday. Situated near Ulverston, Oasis Village is pretty much in the centre of the Lakes. Only a short bus ride to other attractions, such as Lake Windermere boat cruises, Aquarium Of The Lakes and South Lakes Wild Animal Park (a great zoo where I used to work) means that there is even more to do should you leave the actual resort. The actual resort then- compact in terms of what to expect and relatively large. The accommodation is well looked ...

A fantastic fun-filled winter break

Advantages: Loads to do, weather doesn't matter, very beautiful setting
Disadvantages: Very expensive in summer, but reasonable in winter

...Penrith (M6 - Junction 40), Oasis is set in 400 acres of forest in the Lake District. It is a beautiful, enclosed, safe environment, and the accommodation and facilities are outstanding. Lodges are placed in 'clusters' throughout the forest, and range from a one bed apartment to a four bed luxury timber house with galleried landing, 2/3 bathrooms (some with whirlpool baths), microwave, dishwasher, washer-dryer, satellite telly, log fire, lovely ...
...loads of watersports on the Oasis lake. Whether you're young or old, with children or as a couple or family party, you'll never be short of things to do. And as cars are not allowed in the village (except for arrival and departure), the place is lovely and peaceful, and safe for your kids. Most people take their own bicycles or hire them when there for getting around. The selection of bikes to hire is vast to suit all ages and sizes, you can hire ...

Oasis Lakeland Forest Village

Advantages: Things to do
Disadvantages: Could get busy, Pool area could be warmer

...we booked our trip to Oasis I wasn’t convinced. The girlfriend wanted a weekend away. Great I thought - Amsterdam here we come, work had been tough and I felt I needed a bit of break. Ah but hang on a minute we want a weekend in this country and also on the cheap! There was something about the place that scared me – I had a horrible feeling she would have me traipsing around on Mountain Bikes 24 hours a day and hunting Squirrel’s ...
...I better explain what the Oasis Lakeland Forest Village (to give its correct name) is at this point as far as I understand it. Basically its a big glass thing just outside the Lake District (actually located near Penrith which is handy for the M6 and A66) in a forest where even if it rains (which lets be honest is going to happen a lot of the time) there is something to do – be it swim, soccer or squash. Accommodation is in forest ‘lodges’ ...

Oasis a great get away for all the family

Advantages: something for everyone
Disadvantages: some shops are a little pricey

...so many endless activaties at Oasis that you will have to look hard to find a better all round family holiday. Other activaties inc Quad biking, Horse Riding, Ice skating and much more. Most things are reasonably priced, and entrance to the world of water is free. There is a really nice warm pub near to the country club, I forget its name but you can't miss it. The food is excellent, real big portions and really yummy! I would recommend this holiday ...
...Look out for special weekends such as fireworks or Easter when they have special activaties. You can pick up Oasis holiday brochures from most travel agents. Prices vary depending upon the season but have a good look and find an offer that suits you cos its a great experience! ...

A true Oasis in the hectic pace of life

Advantages: Beautiful setting, peaceful and fun
Disadvantages: Showing signs of age, confusing booking processes

...temperatures. I have visited Oasis many times at various times of year in all weathers. At Oasis, it really doesn't matter what the weather is doing and I find it most enjoyable in the depth of the winter when the frost settles on the branches of the trees, fog closes in the atmosphere adn the drizzle barely reaches you through the thickness of the trees. Since Oasis became Centreparcs however, prices have increased making a peak season 5 day break ...
...advance, your time spent at Oasis will be fun, relaxing and great value for money. There are far too many facilities to list and the centre is peaceful enough for those who wish to take it easy but has activities too numerous to mention for those who wish to use them. Oasis have really made this an all-in-one holiday centre suitable for everyone and it is let down only by the high prices and confusing on-site booking processes where you have to ...

Oasis Whinfell

Advantages: family orientated, beautiful setting
Disadvantages: very expensive

...recently went on holiday to oasis whinfell, which is located in the Lake District about 15 minutes from Penrith. It took us just over 2 hours to travel there from Ayr, Scotland. The Park itself is set in acres of woodland with a small lake in the centre. There are lots of footpaths and cycle routes throughout the woods and the wildlife is amazing, there are squirrels and rabbits that just sit at the edge of the paths and watch you go by. On arrival ...

We decided just to leave straight after check-out and go into Penrith for the day before driving home. cycle city

Advantages: nice looking accomodation, places to explore in the forest
Disadvantages: pool

I've been to Oasis twice now, most recently earlier this year. Oais is near Penrith in Cumbria. It's advertised as being by the Lake District, which is correct, since its not actually in it, but you could always do a half day trip into the "Lakes District", as Tony likes to call it, if you wanted to. Penrith is at the northern edge of the Lakes, so if you are travelling from the south, its a day's drive. Penrith also has a train station and the taxi ...
...they do take you right to your villa rather than dump you at the gate, apparently. Overall the accomodaion is nice - very similar to Center Parcs, better looking from the outside but without their famous under floor heating. We were there during a very cold snap - the lake was completely frozen and at night the temporature plummeted to -15 c-brr! Very cold. Luckily our villa had a willing heating system which was put on maximum all weekend and was ...

Heavenly Holidays

Advantages: Loads of activities.
Disadvantages: None in my opinion.

Oasis is a brilliant place to go for a 2 week holiday or just a long weekend. It's situated off the A66 near Penrith on the edge of the lake district national park. Oasis is surrounded in acre upon acre of beautiful forest and countryside. I went for May day weekend last year with my family and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much that we are going again this year. There are hundreds of things to do, such as ice-skating, rollerblading, tennis, squash, ...
...trails. And there's the brilliant world of water. The world of water is situated in the Butterfly Building. Inside it is always warm, in fact it's a subtropical heat, and there are loads of slides, flumes, and rapid rides. And when the sun goes down you can choose from a variety of restaurants there's burger king, chinese, french, indian, italian, a tom cobleighs pub, and the famous rock island diner. ...

Oasis whinfell forest

Advantages: Peaceful, tranquil, marvelous
Disadvantages: Can be busy at times, cold outside

What can i say after the 6 hour jouney to get there, and when we saw that lodge, (security lodge) i thought at last TOILET!!, but No we had to drive another bit to come to the drive thru check in, this seemed to take ages, but anyway hassle free it was. we made our way to the butterfly center which is not how i remember it from 5 years ago, A vast improvment i feel to what it was, for a couple i would find it ideal and for kids too, but for youngsters ...

Annual family pilgrimage to Oasis

Advantages: The most chilled out feeling ever
Disadvantages: I can't afford to stay there all year round

...or Antigua....it is Penrith and Oasis Holiday Village. I first encountered Oasis after a drunken dinner with friends, who were not local to us and so we all agreed to have a short break with our two youngsters (6yrs and 6 months) and their two youngsters (4 years and 6 months. The reality in the morning after the initial shock of the hangover was the fact that we were all going to share a "cabin" for 4 nights, Mon-Fri in the lake district area where ...

Last year we had gale force winds and pouring rain, but I was still seen out looking for pine cones with my 8 year old and came back to the roaring log fire, soaking wet with a smile on our faces. Roll on next week!!!!! ...

Oasis, Centre Parcs

Advantages: Lots to do, good for all seasons
Disadvantages: can end up very expensive

I have been to Oasis near Penrith 4 times now and have had a really enjoyed it each time. At first you wonder how on earth you will find your way around and more importantly how you will find the way back to your lodge as they all look the same! In no time, however, you find yourself zipping around on one of the hired bikes watching those that have just arrived looking slightly lost. The lodges are comfortable, and have a log fire for those hot ...
...evenings. The cooking facilities are what you would expect for a self catering lodge. There are plenty of places to eat out as well as a supermarket on sight, however if you are wanting to cut down on costs then I would recommend taking your own food with you rather than buying it on the on sight supermarket. You can end up spending a lot of money as there are so many different activities to do and you find yourself trying to cram everything in ...

What I think of Oasis

Advantages: A very good place with lots to do
Disadvantages: Evening Entertanment costs extra

I think oasis is a very good family resort with lots of activitys to do. All of the views are excellent insted of having views of lots of lodgets they are all hidden in trees so you cant see as much with I think is very good as you don't want to see lots of lodges (you see enough walking around the complex) All of the entertanment is very good. Oasis dose get very noise with it being on the flight path for the air force but you do get use to at ...
...getting around the complex is by bike or foot as no cars are allowed in to it as they keep traffic down (NOTE: the only cars allowed in are staff cars) When you arrive you get a fast check in (a drive thru one so you don't need to get out of your car) and the only que for the check-in is the cars quing to get in. ...

Oasis, not for the old

Advantages: clean fresh air, plenty to do
Disadvantages: if your old your in trouble there

Oasis winfel forrest, after the annoying check in in some sort of car office and arrival then parking your car for a week then you get to the point where oyu pull out the map and see where you are and how far you have to walk to places. Unlike the other center parks in england there is a huge distance between the sports center and the bars and restraunt complex. I wasnt bothered but for soembody a bit older that 800 metre (rough guess) walk can ...
...it can be annyonig knowing you've got a badminton or squash court booked at the sport center and having to get out of the pool 10 mintues earlier to get there on time. still i like the way the pool is ajoining the bars and restraunts becuase its somethnig about swimming that makes me hungry. i guess the main message im trying to put forward is if you dont like walking this center parks is not the one for you, there are plenty more around, check ...

New Year at Oasis Whinfell Park

Advantages: Beautiful area, plenty to do for all the family
Disadvantages: staff untrained and unhelpful

This Center Parcs is situated in the most beautiful scenery in the U.K. However in comparison to thr Parcs in France and Holland we found it to be shabby and the staff were poorly trained. The pool area was to cold to use during most of our week long stay. The restaurants were too busy some nights and on other nights the staff cleaned up around us at 10.30pm! Our lodge was in dire need of refurbishment with holes in the sofa and graffitti on the ...
