Christmas In The Old Town

Advantages: Beautiful Xmas Market, Great Personal Memories
Disadvantages: Crowded

Situated on the Eastern banks of the river Vltava, the area of Stare Mestro is the traditional heart of Prague and at its middle is this wonderful town square. Now, had I visited at another time of year then I think that my review would be quite short and of little interest as the square, based on what I have read, for the majority of the year is a pleasant but large expanse of empty space. ...this square so I will not recommend you go out of your way to see it, because you will already have done so. My advice is that, if you can, you should visit Prague in December to take in the most amazing Christmas market in a beautiful Old Town Square. ...

A feast of architecture

Advantages: So much to see
Disadvantages: Often very crowded

...space where part of the old town hall used to be - it was the only building to be damaged in WW2 right at the end of the conflict in 1945. The north side is dominated by the church of St Nicholas, which is in the Baroque style. Just off centre of the square is the large monument to Jan Hus, the religious reformer and Czech national hero, which now seems to provide alternative seating for those who don't wish to make use of the numerous chairs provided ...

They are also on sale in some metro stations, but it is quite hard to find out exactly where.
