Watch out there's a Paraglider about. Review with images

AdvantagesVery Scenic

DisadvantagesDucking out of the way of Paragliders.

"We decided on Turkey this year as there were a few sites we wanted to visit, and Olu Deniz seemed a good base to achieve this. We booked two weeks staying at the Perdikia Hotel thru Thomsons. The resort is heavily sold on its Blue Lagoon, the most photographed place in the Turkey Brochures. You land at Dlaman Airport, which is about an Hours Transfer, this used to be longer but they have now opened a new Tunnel, saving a climb over the ..." Read review

The best holiday I've ever been on

AdvantagesSee opinion

DisadvantagesSee opinion

"I just got back from a two week break in Oludeniz, Turkey, and I can say without a doubt that it is the best holiday I have ever been on. We had such good service from the fabulous staff at the hotel and so much loved the pretty, lively little town and stunning lagoon that we’ve already booked up for next year. The resort (Oludeniz): Oludeniz is a small town surrounded by mountains on three sides which has recently become a popular destination ..." Read review

Go here before it is too late

Advantagesbeautiful scenery, friendly people, cheap prices

Disadvantageslack of infrastucture, mosquitos

"Recently there have been a couple of articles in the Scottish press criticising Turkey. This may be political manoeuvring following the murder of a Turkish asylum seeker in Glasgow, but I feel it is unfair not to respond to the negative image portrayed. We holidayed In Olu Deniz this year and I can honestly state that it is the best holiday our family has ever had. Even the teenager from hell enjoyed himself. I have given information under a number ..." Read review

Olu Deniz Sixteen Years On

AdvantagesSun, Sea and Lovely People

DisadvantagesMosquitos and Paragliders

"What a difference 16 years make? Olu is still and always will be beautiful place and the people are just as friendly, but where there were a few tiny cafes with goats and chickens running about and accommodation resembling the holiday camps of old, there are now numerous cafes, bars, shops and some very nice hotels. Gone are the days when you sat at rickety tables on rough ground and cooked meat on tiny barbeques brought to your table. The once quiet ..." Read review

Turkish Delight

AdvantagesA perfect Holiday

DisadvantagesToo Hot Mid Summer

"I holidayed in Ölü Deniz in June 2000, so all costs (in GBP) are based on that time period. Also due to the rate of development there may be more facilities available now, than there were when I visited. Ölü Deniz is situated in South West Tukey. It is a hotel based resort so is dead out of holiday season. The nearest big town is Fethiye. It's the site of the filming of the 1980 (awful) film , "The Blue Lagoon" which featured Brooke Shields. It ..." Read review

Wonderful country, wonderful people...

AdvantagesCheap, great weather, friendly people, beautiful scenery, good beaches

DisadvantagesToo hot at times, funny toilets, money hard to get to grips with

"Don't let the fact that Turkey neighbours Iraq put you off visiting this wonderful country. Although Eastern Turkey is best avoided, and despite the fact there have been a few terrorist attacks this year in other parts of the country, Brits are as safe in Oludeniz as in London. Back in early June 2003, we booked a seven day 'allocated on arrival' late deal through Thompson, which included flights, transfers, insurance, half board, a balcony and a ..." Read review

Olu Deniz - My Experience Of The Resort

AdvantagesCalm, Peaceful, Quiet, Clean and Friendly

DisadvantagesPrices Same As UK, A Little Too Much Like Being At Home But Just Hotter.

"My Girlfriend and I went to Olu Deniz in 2008 and had such an amazing time. I was a bit apprehensive and curious of what to expect at first but I think what summed up our opinion was at the end when we said we'd happily go back - not something we usually say generally because we don't like to go back to the same place twice, and that way we can see more of the world and experience more etc. It's probably one of the friendliest resorts I've been to. ..." The best beach in Europe.

Advantages100% Sun, sea and sand. Cheap.

DisadvantagesThe Dolmus crawls back up the mountain.

"Olu Deniz. Nestled in an area of outstanding beauty, with Olu Deniz on the beach and Hisaronu on the mountainside looking down over the lagoon. These resorts are about 3klms apart and can be easily reached by Dolmus service. Olu Deniz is one of the most photographed locations in the whole of Turkey, with crystal clear waters, golden sands and beautiful lagoon, this really is a beach lovers paradise. Hisaronu. A lovely bustling hillside village ..." Read review

Fantastic holiday in Olu Deniz.

AdvantagesSmall but still plenty to offer.

DisadvantagesCan't think of any.

"I have just come back from Olu Deniz, which was my first taste of Turkey - and I loved it. The resort is very small and secluded, surrounded on 3 sides by mountains. It seemed to be based on a sort of H shape with a road going across the top, then down the main street towards the beach with another road parallel to the beach. We stayed at the Mellis Beach Hotel at the top of the main street, which is next to the Sultan Pepper restaurant. This was ..." Read review

Relaxing, beautiful holiday

Advantagesexcellent cheap food, friendly people, no car required, relaxing

Disadvantagesmosquitos

"We went in May this year for 2 weeks and stayed at the Montebello hotel at the top of the resort, although as it's a small resort we were still only a 5-10 min walk from the beach. We paid £295 from Manchester for B and B which was a bargain for the quality of the resort. It is quite small and you won't find many loud clubs, although if you want that you can go to the resort of Hisaronu which is about a mile up the mountainside (70p on a bus). ..." Read review

Beautiful, Friendly and Affordable

AdvantagesFantastic scenery, very affordable and extremely friendly.

DisadvantagesCan't think of any.

"The number of times I have been to Hisaronu (six) says something about the place. Hisaronu is in the Olu Deniz area and is up in the mountains. The scenery is fabulous. You are surrounded by mountains and pine forests yet only 10 minutes away from Olu Deniz by dolmus. Down at Olu Deniz you can walk to the famous lagoon or even ride part of the way on a camel. When you get to the lagoon you will find a cafe and even a couple of shops. The beach at ..." Read review

Olu Deniz cool Turkey

Advantagesbeautiful area, friendly people

Disadvantagesbuilding work, getting more expensive

"I have been to the Olu Deniz area of Turkey on 2 occasions and find it a relaxing and beautiful area. The Olu Deniz pennisula is an enclosed bay that has a natural beauty of it's own. It is getting popular now so can be quite busy. A walk other the mountains is worth trying but it is a long walk to the next town so be prepared. Hironisu is the place I stayed at and this is a short Dolmus(local bus) ride from the pennisula. The dolmus is very ..." Read review

Postcard perfection

Disadvantagesnone

"We visited Sarigerme in Turkey October 2008 and a stop off in Oludeniz was included in an excursion to Fethyia. When we arrived in the town it was clear to see that it was a thriving tourist town, I didn't see many residential areas although we didn't stay long so if we had explored a bit more we may have stumbled accross some local areas. We spent most of our short time there down by the lagoon. I must say that out of everywhere I have been in the ..." Read review

Oludeniz is worth experiencing.

AdvantagesParagliding, parasailing, jeep safari

"I and my girlfriend have just returned from a lovely holiday in the south of Turkey. We've been to Ayvalik (on the Aegean coast of Turkey) first, which was an old settlement by the sea that had spectacular houses made in the 1800s. From there we went to *Oludeniz* (farther south, in Fethiye) which was a wonderful holiday place. We saw that the place was a favorite for the English men. With satellite TVs in each restaurant, they didn't miss any ..." Read review

Quick review of Ölü Deniz (Turkey)

"I have stayed in Olu Deniz many many times and I am astonished at the reviews I have read on this page, Olu Deniz is definately not geared up for Germans, it is a very english resort, There is also plenty to do in Hisonaru and Fethyie (sorry about spellings) As for there being no resteraunts, this is rediculous! Both towns are full of resteraunts and bars. There is also night clubs and many places of interest, to keep everyone happy and busy. I have always found that 2 weeks is not enough time to fit in everything. The turkish people are very friendly and helpful and will willingly assist anyone who needs it. I have stayed in Olu Deniz, near the lagoon and it was beautiful. I have also stayed in Fethiye and Hisonaru and i have really enjoyed the hotels that i have stayed in. I have found the staff and the service to be exceptional.
