The holiday of a lifetime can be found in the world's best destination (in my opinion!) - Orlando, Florida. Our family spent two weeks over there and even that was not enough for all the attractions and parks over there. There are many hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and water parks to enjoy as well as the classic Disney parks, Sea World and Universal Studios (recently opened Islands of Adventure). And if you can afford to stay in a Disney hotel ... ...of the hotels as well as another one located on International Drive, but Disney is by far the best. This holiday is perfect for families of any age because there is something for everyone! Adults can get away for the night at the nightclubs, leaving the children with a babysitter. ...

Advantages: Theme parks Disadvantages: Its all theme parks
...when I went and although Orlando is nice there is so much to see in Florida that I would recommend not spending your whole holiday there. The theme parks are great - places to visit being Universal Studios, Disney (there's so much) and Sea World. After a few days of this you could and should hire a car and travel around the rest of the peninula. Miami is several hours to the south and the everglades is only an hour or two further. To the west is ... ...much there. Prices in Orlando are good, until you get to the theme parks, and petrol in America is really cheap. Make sure you tip well (20%) and try and avoid the road side motels, because although they are cheap they can be a little bit insecure - we had a break-in while we were there, although meeting the police is a cultural experience in itself.!. ...

Advantages: Swim with Dolphins Disadvantages: Expensive
Sea World is the place to go if you want to see Dolphins jump through hoops or see Shamu the killer whale perform. Its is all just part of the magic of Florida. Perhaps good the first time but not always good if you want to go back. It can get a bit reparative.
Sea World is the sister park to Dolphin Cove a brand new park in Orlando. Dolphin Cove differs to the rest of the parks because you can swim with the Dolphins, tickets are around $150 and ...

Advantages: A break from Disney Disadvantages: Some rides unsuitable for small children
These consist of the Universal Studios with King Kong and Jaws and the new Islands of Adventures. Universal Studios is quite old now but is constantly updated. The Terminator ride and the Back to the Future are a must, as well as the amazing Twister experience. Don't forget to catch the stunt show just before close every night.
Islands of Adventure is more for the older child than the young ones. There are huge rollercoasters, and some white knuckle ...

...the theme parks in the Orlando area are so huge, I thought they deserve their own opinions. As I have been there several times, I think I can share some tips which I have picked up along the way.
Walt Disney World (WDW) and the other Disney parks can be covered by purchasing a hopper pass, a 5 or 7 day one. You can then interchange and spend more time at your favourite. The monorail system connects the Magic Kingdom with Epcot, it is a great ride ... ...write it down because if you forget, you will have tens of thousands of spaces to search! Epcot has some of the best fireworks with the world taking the stage every evening.
Do your research before you get to Florida, I did and was able to save myself lots of time when I got there because I had already figured out which tickets I want. Try www.go2orlando.com a really useful site.
You may want to pop back to your hotel between 12 and 2, give yourself ...

Advantages: Great deals Disadvantages: Watch you luggage allowance
...more expensive. In Orlando there are two things you must try. There are the outlet shops with names such as Calvin Klein putting in a presence. Just like the outlet malls in the UK but bigger and of course cheaper. The other place to go to is Florida Mall, further away but it is full of the normal shops such as sunglasses hut. Don't forget to add sales tax to your purchases! Also consider your baggage allowance when buying that bargain bowling ball, ... ...Look out for coupons, there everywhere. There is nothing worse than having gone shopping and bought something and then realising you could have got a discount. Read the touristy leaflets, pay a visit to the tourist centre on I drive, ask at the information point of shopping centres you may find that you can get yourself a bargain. ...

Orlando is really a great city for holiday makers. I believe that the habitants of Florida are amongst the friendliest in the world, and the lifestyle is so layed back. When you holiday in Orlando, there is no need to go beyond the city but there's is a lot to miss if you do stay confined to Orlando itself.
The are masses of lovely beaches dotted all over the place in Florida. And the whole state is crammed full of cool activities, most of them ... ...mentioning a few. Florida is very pedestrianised and if you don't have a car, there are usually buses to take you to the most popular attractions.
I have a grand-father living in Florida, he likes it so much he hasn't moved from there in over 10 years. He lives in a small village/town called Niceville, and it is a very quiet and non-touristy place. If your looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday, Florida is also good for this. There are many small ...

...The most positive thing about orlando was the fact everyone who works in the parks are so helpful and happy. It makes you feel welcome. The rides are the main attractions(obviously) especially the gargantuan rollercoasters
E.g. space mountain, The incredible hulk, splash mountain.
You will never get bored. If you do you have no life and obviously havent tried everything on offer. ...

...wife and i have visited Orlando 4 times. Two out of the 4 were disasters. The parks are basicly for kids and teenagers. The oldies are not suited to the hoards of crowds. The food is also geared to the young. Ever seen an oldie in pondarosa. The weather is also unpredictable, raining most days from mid afternoon. September is not a good month for decent weather, but the travel agents dont tell you that before hand. Orlando has really nothing to offer ...

Advantages: Choice, quality and value Disadvantages: Too much food!
...to eat out in the Orlando (and one you should avoid!). Overall, the food is of a good standard throughout the area being varied, plentiful and offering value for money; You can't go wrong with Olive Garden, Tony Roma, TGI's, Applebees and Cheesecake Factory. The family favourite though has to be 'Little Italy' at Pointe Orlando, on I.Drive. The atmosphere and setting is brilliant, the service excellent, the food superb although too much and the prices ... ...book ... waiting time up to 2 hours for a table). Avoid at all costs (and it will cost) 'The Butchers Shop' on I Drive. It was our most expensive meal of the holiday and the biggest disappopintment. Last year I visited orlando, for 2 weeks, and what a place it proved. 2 weeks just was not long enough I need to go back again, there is just so much to see and do. From Disney World, Universal Studios, sea world, Cape Kennedy, and church street station. So much to see and do. then there are the water parks, Typhoon lagoon what a way to relax after many days spent around the theme parks.
