Pride of Hull - minicruise

Advantages: cheap, friendly staff
Disadvantages: uk weather conditions

I dragged my hubby on this minicruise as cruising is something he thought would be posh and not for him - wrong - he is now hooked!! We took the car on a p&o mini cruise from hull to rotterdam on the Pride of Hull, one of the newest and largest ferries in uk service. The food in the 4 seasons restaurant was lovely and after a waitered first course the rest was self service (eat as much as you like) yipee! the breakfast was the same! It cost £106 ...
...and a little dear but well worth it! The crossing there and back was smooth and uneventful - but i suppose this could be very different depending on the weather. The ferry left hull at 9pm and arrived in Rotterdam (the biggest seaport in Europe) at 8am the next morning. A standard cabin is a bunk bed affair with en-suite toilet/shower and very clean / tidy etc. There was plenty of enterainment on board, including live band / disco a quieter piano ...

A soothing cruise at a soothing price

Advantages: Cheap/ plenty to do/ agood introduction to cruising
Disadvantages: Small cabins/ occasionally choppy seas

I took a mini-cruise with P&O a while back and it was fantastic value. We boarded the Pride of Bilbao at Portsmouth, P&O's most luxurious ship that they operate in Europe. The shops are great, as are the restaurants and the Cinema's (Yes, there are two of them!) The cabins can be a bit poky if you go on the cheap, but ther's so much to do that you will probably only be in there when your sleeping. The caberet is quite entertaining, even if it is ...
...do if you don't like it. It was a three day cruise to northern Spain, for only £99! This is great value by any standards. It might be a good idea to book one of these short cruises first, to see if it's your kind of thing, then book a monster cruise when you've got enough cash! ...

fantastic mini cruise on pride of bilbao 25th feb 2009

Advantages: value for money, excellent facilities,a great mini break
Disadvantages: too may tvs,one big screen be better if you \really feel the need to watch tv while away lol

My partner treated me to a mini cruise last week on the pride and we had a fantastic time, the ship is wonderfully done inside and out, very impressive. The crew were all so friendly, and there was good choice of things to eat and drink. The shows put on every night by the P&O players were fantastic, down to the costumes etc and were very well put together. Our cabin was on deck 6,and was bigger than we imagined and very comfy beds.We docked in santurtzi, and ...
...was warm and we really enjoyed it.Apparently the captain said we had been very lucky with our smooth crossing, and i only felt alittle queasy on our return journey for afew hrs but was my own fault as i hadnt eaten much that day,as soon as i ate i was fine so i would recommend eating little and often. All in all fantastic value as was 2 for one and so cost us £72 for us both for 3 nights on board.extras were whatever you ate and drank but was all ...

...heres a lil information to help u all along! Arcadia is a truly forward looking superliner, and im sure will exceed every expectation!! I think the glass fronted lifts that slide up and down the exterior or the ship are amazing, allows for a really good view over the ocean. The cabins were gorgeous, I was lucky enough to have an outside, of which I would certainly reccomend, I felt the space was adequate, unlike some cruise liners where u feel ur ...

Pride of Bilbao mini cruise to spain

Advantages: chance to experience a cruise for next to nothing.
Disadvantages: seasickness if not prepared, expensive food

If you are well prepared for the sea sickness and take travel pills before you get on, and all the way through the journey, this can be a really enjoyable short holiday. I have been on 5 of these mini cruises now, and am soon to have a 6th. Yes, it can be expensive to eat, but when you actually dock in Spain, you can go to a supermarket and stock up on baguettes and meats etc, and eat them on the journey home. I took my children the first time, and ...
...with friends, as with kids, it can be so expensive as they want money for machines, drinks and meals every 5 minutes. The swimming pool is not up to much, the jacuzzi was open every time I've been, the drinks were cheap, and it's lovely and relaxing on deck sunbathing (another thing, I would only ever go in peak season now, as the weather at other times can be atrocious and contribute to sea sickness) and besides I only really go to relax. The trips ...

mini cruise to bilbao

Advantages: pleasant staff, cabins clean, entertainment, good food
Disadvantages: not enough for 10 to 15`s to do, lifts just wide enough for one wheelchair

we went first week of may, my wife is in a wheelchair so we informed ahead. At check in it is advisable to get queing to the departure gate early as people will just push past you. Once through we wqere put on to a minibus and driven onto to the car deck, upto check in area given our room keys, in the cabin we had a club, very nice spacious nice double bed also had a futon double bed, tv, kettle and complimentry tea, coffee, hot chocolate fruit basket. ...

Cruise of a Lifetime

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

April, this year I was asked to go on a cruise for a holiday. I have never been on a cruise so I didn't really know what to expect. But I can assure you, once you've been on a P&O Cruise holiday you won't want to go on any other holiday again. Our holiday lasted for 3 weeks where we went to the Carribean Islands. The staff treat you like royalty, and there is so much to do when you are on sea. And you don't even get Sea Sick! The best part was ...

P & O pride of bilboa trip

Advantages: cost of trip
Disadvantages: Delays & Cost of meals

We have just returned from our 1st mini cruise and can say we will most definatly be going again. The staff were all friendly and helpful, every where we went was clean and well kept. Our trip started off on the wrong foot when we experienced a 9 hour delay due to a medical emergancy on the returning trip, the terminal is not the best place to be for this amount of time, however we were given free beverages for the duration of our delay. Once on ...
...good speed and we arrived in Santurtzi port just behind schedule, the trip out was smooth , we spent some time watching for dolphins and we were not dissapointed ,we didn't see the whales. We found the whole trip very relaxing, just what we needed. We paid for our meals prior to departure, however if you don't do this be prepared for the cost of an evening meal in the Four Seasons resturant £16.95 for a three course evening meal and about £9.00 for ...

Cruise away from home

Advantages: You can board from the UK, no Flights
Disadvantages: Weight gain from wonderful food and Bay of Bisay

I was 25 weeks pregnant when I cruised on the Aurora, so it great not fly, but to have the luxury of a high calibre hotel from the UK with the potential to go to some exciting ports. The food was excellent, we loved the cream cakes for afternoon tea and the 24 hour cafe, plus having toast and fruit delivered to our room each morning - all included in the price. Although getting dressed up 4 out of 7 (2 formal and 2 smart) was a bit of a bind and ...
...strict with this. The ports of call were not very exciting- we stopped at Vigo in Spain, which was very dull unless you paid for an excursion to take you well away from the port area, we also stopped at St Peter's Port on a Sunday and almost everything was closed. The only other down side was the because you are so close to the UK the climate was still cool even in July when we sailed, so no chance to relax in the sun on deck- which often the dream ...

Aurora, a week from hell

Advantages: full board, see lots of places, entertainment included
Disadvantages: herded about like cattle, overpriced

We went on a weeks cuise on the Aurora in June, "the Gallic Getaway" leaving from Southampton. We had booked an inside cabin, which is the cheapest and is usually quite comfortable. This one STUNK of cigarette smoke. We reported it and the cabin was re cleaned but still it smelt. It took the staff 3 days to sort it out, no alternative cabin was offered, I hated every second of being in that stinking cell. The bedding reeked of smoke and was eventually ...
...the first 3 days of my 7 day holiday chasing up this problem. THe buffet which is served when one boards had only one vegetarian choice of sandwhich , in this case a soft cheese (not suitable for pregnant women) . I had requested a table for 2 at dinner months before when I booked and this request was not met. As I am a strict veggie I do not like to watch meat being eaten and this was explained when booking. I again had to labour this point and ...

The World Is Out There

Advantages: Fabulous Food, Get to see lots of different ports, First Class Service
Disadvantages: The weight put on after a 14 day cruise!!

Crusing, you either love it or hate it, there is no in-between. Fantastic Food is on offer 24 -7, drinks are reasonably priced and there is always lots to do on board during the day and at night. Its a fantastic feeling waking up each morning in a different port. If you want to get off and explore or book an excursion there is always someone on hand to help. The staff are first class and you are always well looked after. Many think of cruising as ...

Is cruising as good as they say?

Advantages: Good food, accomodation, full program of activites, varied cruises
Disadvantages: I'll let you know

...second to none. Now, P & O Cruises is owned by the Carnival Corporation - an American company that bought P & O Cruises about 2 years. Part of P & O is Princess Cruises. Now to deal with the title is cruising really for the Posh - well the truth is it very much depends on the brand you choice. What do I mean by brand - P & O Cruises is a brand within the carnival corporation, the same as Princess is a brand with the corporation too. As well as ...
...is some ships within the P & O fleet are childless, this means that you will only find adults onboard - so there will be no children running around the deck when your trying to top up your tan. Princess cruises are good for families and if you would like a relaxed holiday they are the brand for you - the ships are amazing, an old cliche but they are actually - floating hotels. Brilliant!!! Although on days at sea the open decks by the pools are ...

P&O ferries cancels tickets without notice

Advantages: Nice ship, nice cabin, very good meals on board.
Disadvantages: Cancellation of tickets without notice.

Be aware when booking P&O ferries! The company might just cancel your tickets and expects you to buy new ones. Recently, I booked a return passage for two people from Rotterdam to Hull. We missed outbound journey due to traffic jams and were advised by P&O ferries to take an alternative route from Calais to Dover using the same tickets without additional charges. We did so and when entering the ferry in Calais we were asked to confirm whether we ...
...We said yes but no one told us what would follow. Unbelievably, P&O ferries cancelled our tickets for the return journey. When we arrived in Hull, the P&Q ferries employees argued that because we missed our outward journey, the return ticket would be invalid too. We were expected to buy new tickets. The manager refused to hand out anything in writing confirming the circumstances of the situation. After three hours of discussions and only after we ...
