They have done a lot of work at the zoo, it has changed considerably since I first went many years ago when it was more of a traditional zoo, animals in cages rather than natural looking enclosures. The zoo strives to do more and they are currently raising funds to construct a crocodile swamp which should be fabulous when finished. The area has ...

...children. I have been to Paignton Zoo several times as a child, teenager and adult and to be quite honest have enjoyed every visit. I think my best visit however was with my sixth form on an A level biology trip, where we managed to split off from our teacher led groups and get our faces painted. We visited the zoo yesterday along with my fiancé, unfortunately I could not lose him in the ape enclosure….the apes wouldn't have him ;-)
I am always ... ...funny things they do, however Paignton Zoo really care for the animals well and they are happy. Many of the creatures are endangered in their own countries and by preserving their species in zoos they are being protected. I was more than happy to pay an extra contribution towards conservation after my visit. _________________________________

...enjoyed a lovely day at Paignton Zoo! I suppose it is primarily a kid's place, but in my opinion it's a great place for people of all ages to visit, and there are far worse ways to spend the day than at the zoo! I don't know if any of you watched a series called Zoo Keepers, on a few years ago? Well, it was filmed at Paignton Zoo, so some of you may recognise it.
LOCATION AND PRICE
Paignton Zoo is located in Paignton, South Devon. For directions ... ...very restricted conditions, but luckily Paignton isn't one of those zoos. The animals are all very well looked after, and they have clean, spacious enclosures with indoor and outdoor areas. There are more than one of almost all the animals, so they have 'friends' to interact with.
The elephant and giraffe enclosures are still fairly new, and a lot better than the older ones (but even they weren't bad), and the monkey houses are also quite new and ...

...about August when I visited Paignton Zoo in Devon, which is the biggest in the UK. The zoo was founded in 1901 by Herbert Whitley, when he was only small, with a doting gift from his mother of a pair of canaries. He went on to raise and show finches, Dutch rabbits and silver Wyandotte poultry but the stars of his compilation were undeniably his adored blue and black cropper pigeons. The 1st monkeys arrived in 1910, & in 1911 Herbert bought the 1st ... ...Only a fragment of Paignton Zoo's history is written here, but you can read all about this amazing variety & its founder, Herbert Whitley, in the book 2Chimps, Champs and Elephants" by Jack Baker.
