I saw The Pancake Bakery in a guide book, and decided that I'd have to go here as I'd never been to a restaurant that only sells pancakes before.
The restaurant is located on the Western side of Amsterdam in an area known as Gratchengordel West. It's on a road called "Prisengracht". It can easily be seen as the last of the parallel canals on the left hand side of a map of the city.
The Pancake Bakery is in the basement of an old converted boat ... ...couldn't find a piece of pancake without pineapple in. My partner decided to indulge herself, and she had what can only be described as an obscenely sweet pancake. It had 3 very large scoops of vanilla ice-cream, chocolate pieces, toffee pieces, and chocolate sauce. I have no idea how she even managed to eat as much as she did, but after saying "mmm I could eat loads of these" at the start, she definately seemed to have been proven wrong by the time ...

Advantages: Giant portions, relaxed surroundings. Disadvantages: The laid back service!
We visited the Pancake Bakery, as it is known as "The most famous pancake house in Amsterdam". From the outside it doesn't look spectacular, but on entrance it was filled with many people, and was certainly very popular. The restaurant is open from 12 till 9.30.
The bakery is situated in an old 17th century warehouse, and is on the Prinsengracht Canal. It has been situated there since the 70's and has been owned by the same person for a good 25 ... ...pancakes, such as the German pancake filled with a hotpot and the Chillian pancake filled with chilli and spicy meat. I settled on a sweet one though, the Belgian with Apples, raisons, nuts. The International ones were about £8. The menu also contained a selection of childrens pancakes for about a fiver, decorated as animals, princesses, clowns etc. There were also a familiar choice of all soft and alcoholic drinks.
It took a while before we ordered, ...
