Bienvenue a Charles de Hell!!!!

Advantages: Great transport links
Disadvantages: Poor facilities in terminals

...considering writing a review of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) for some time but have refrained; worried that it may be biased by factors outside of the airports hands. However, having had an 'unforgettable' trip through the airport on a day trip a couple of weeks ago, I felt it was time to put down my opinions! CDG is one of a group of airports around the capital city of France, along with Orly, Le Bourget and Beavaus, but is the most likely ...
...opened in 1972 as Le Bourget could not cope with the demands of modern aviation and has quickly become one of the busiest and most diverse airports in the world. I first visited the airport a couple of years ago when my girlfriend and I decided to visit the city for a few days holiday. We were flying from London Heathrow with bmi and, as a member of the Star Alliance; we were taken to terminal 1. The terminal itself is an odd design with a central ...

Do your research before you go.

Advantages: Can get to just about anywhere from here. Loads of shops.
Disadvantages: Big, busy and looking a little dated

...booze, get them before you go to the airport, its a lot cheaper. Last Point - if you are remaining in Paris and need to get across to the city proper, use the excellent train service, DO NOT try to drive across Paris. You'll end up in Waterloo. ...

Charles de Tester of le Patience!

Advantages: External Architecture, Central Location
Disadvantages: Crowded, Complicated, Aged, Unfriendly Staff

...a short holiday at Disneyland Paris (I have placed a flight review under 'BMI Baby') and, like at most airports, the experience was not pleasant! CHECK-IN For the return leg of the journey was somewhat confusing. The check-in hall is vast and, like most of the airport, seems to work in a sort of circle. The main problem was that there was not sufficient space to queue. Whichever way the queue wen away fromt he desk it seemed to stick out into a ...
...airport with huge trolleys of cases. In additiion to the queuing problem there was a general lack of seating in this area. The result was a mess of people generally laid around the floor or propped up against the walls. However, this was the area in which the staff were at their most polite. When I asked (with many gestures and a lot of the wrong French words) where to buy a drink from, the man was very helpful and pointed me in the right direction, ...

An airport or an IQ test

Advantages: Planes can land there. Planes can leave again.
Disadvantages: Total chaos trying to navigate the airport. The moving walkways are a real danger to your health. Lack of information. Not enough multi-language speakers working there. The place is in need of some real modernising. The check-in desks need some real

Why You Must Avoid This Airport At All Costs

Advantages: Good connections to many destinations
Disadvantages: Too difficult to navigate, not suitable for disabled, badly signposted, filthy toilets.

Paris CDG is honestly the WORST airport I have ever visited. Getting around is a nightmare, security takes too long, the signage is bad, facilities are poor, prices are expensive and the staff surly and unhelpful. I have transferred on and off flights via Paris CDG many times whilst flying to and from the USA from Scotland. Here is a typical experience: We arrive by plane from Edinburgh and are taken by bus to the terminal. We then stand in a huge ...
...So what is wrong with Paris CDG? At the heart of its problems is a basically flawed arhitectural design. It is a HUGE rambling airport spread over many terminals and endless other little buildings that have no real connection between them other than endless perspex corridors and infrequent shuttle buses which makes the whole impossible to comprehend or to navigate. With the endless stairs and buses, I fail to see how it is possible to manage if one ...

Avoid it if you can't walk

Advantages: none that I was aware of
Disadvantages: No thought to people with mobility difficulties, rude and unhelpful staff

...at all. However arriving at Paris was a different story. Firstly when my plane landed there was no wheelchair to meet me from the plane, after waiting about 20 minutes I had to get off the plane using my crutches and make my way slowly into the airport terminal, with no assistance from any airport or airline staff. Once in the terminal I had to sit and wait a further 10 minutes for a wheelchair to arrive. When the wheelchair finally arrived it was ...
...special assistance I found that Paris Charles de Gaulle airport just made it a million times worse, at Toulouse and Manchester airports they were friendly and helpful and tried to help as best they could, at Paris they just couldn't care less. I will be avoiding this airport at all costs, I hope I never have the misfortune to have to travel through it again! ...

Dedicated to the smoker

Advantages: Horrible place - none.
Disadvantages: Smoker's paradise

I recently had the displeasure of a transit (i.e. connecting flights) via Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. If you smoke, you'll love the place. If you don't, it will be hell. Unlike most other western European cultures, the 'smoking kills you' message seems yet to have penetrated the French psyche, or at least the travelling French psyche. Barely a man, woman or child loafed about without a fag dangling from the side of their mouth. What about ...
...any. The older four terminals (A, B, C & D - concrete monolithic arc shapes, facing one another) simply do not have anywhere specifically reserved for the breathing of smoke-free air. Terminal F, the shiny new metal and glass terminal, tacked on the end of B & D, has a smoking area downstairs. So all the smoke drifts upwards anyway. However, smoking is a right and the French exercise it where they please. The 'espace fumeur' downstairs simply has ...

Magical Mystery Tour

Advantages: Not too bad when departing
Disadvantages: Huge place with no signs and no staff to help

...decided to go to Disneyland Paris earlier this year, we didn't have much option other than to fly. We live in Scotland so to go by ferry, car or eurotunnel would with 3 young children be an absolute nightmare, not to mention expensive. We had originally considered flying into Beauvais with Ryanair, but we decided we'd rather fly from Edinburgh which is closer to us and fly to Charles de Gaulle which is closer to Disneyland. I had been warned that ...
...and had done a bit of researching on the internet before we went. I had been given instructions that when we got into the airport, to go through passport checks, collect our luggage and go through customs, follow the moving walkways and we would come out right where we needed to be in order to take either the bus, train or taxi to Disneyland. We landed early on a Thursday morning. The flight arrived on time and we were all very excited. I wasn't ...

...the airport owners thinking of? It's nothing short of barbaric. Heaven help you if you are ill, elderly or with children. The national airport of Gambia in west Africa puts one of Europe's most modern airports to shame. In fact, it's enough to put you off visiting Paris ever again. ...

...day adventure, we landed at Paris CD airport where we were met by a very cheery taxi driver. We had an excellent 3 days and arrived at Paris CD airport for the homeward bound trip. Upon arrival at the check in desk we were told 'sorry sir, you can not take the wheelchair on to the flight'after 5 minutes 'fighting' with the checkin assistant I spoke to the supervisor who told us that yes we could take the chair onto the flight. 'Great' and we went ...
...we were presented with another trip up the stairs. In conclusion it is safe to say that I will be driving the next time we go to Euro Disney, which is what I would suggest and wheelchair bound person should do, if they intend to travel to Paris CD airport. ...

Charles de Gaulle Paris, its ohh la la - not

Advantages: you can leave to almost anywhere in Europe, good shops
Disadvantages: miles and miles to walk

...of a weekend break in Paris over the Bank Holiday it seems churlush to complain but if you plan on doing this it is well worth the extra effort to ensure you only carry hand luggage. Why ? well if the dense smoke of Gauloise does not get you almost the minute you step off the plane then the cobwebs which will form while you wait for your baggage will surely see you off. I wouldn't say the baggage handlers are slow - thats actually quite difficult ...
...go slow, breaks or just apathetic but suffice it to say I have never picked up my bags within 1 hour of landing. Once you have got your bags though - its plain sailing. I recommend you pick up a free map of the city streets and metro from the British Airways desk ( the maps are sponsored by a Parisian department store). Catch the Air France bus outside Gate 34 for a 115 franc round trip to the Congress Centre or the Arc de Triomph or take the RER ...

Disadvantages: Just a chaotic mess - and unfriendly check-in staff

...dubious pleasure of going through Paris Charles de Gaulle twice and I hope never to have to repeat the experience. I travelled from Munich to CDG, got off the plane and looked for somewhere to change my money to francs. Found one ATM machine with a queue of about 20 people. I decided to walk on further to see if there was a Bureau de Change with a smaller queue. It too had a long queue, and just one teller. Then trying to find the bus to the train ...
...leg, my friend and I arrived in CDG, thankfully with about an hour and a half to spare. We were travelling Lufthansa but there were NO signs up telling us in which direction any particular check-in desk was!! Unbelievable! So, we just had to wander along until we chanced upon it. We headed for our gate and all the signs on the computer screens said our plane was leaving though a particular gate (for example's sake let's say G23). So we went there ...

WORST AIRPORT I HAVE EVER VISITED

Advantages: Gets you that bit nearer to paris and disney
Disadvantages: Smelly old building, looks like it is going to fall apart

CDG- Paris is without a doubt the worst airport I have visited Bad points- Conveyor Belt area (lugauge point) was to compact and was very busy and crowded Food and drink was too expensize Staff were very unhelpful There were no orange top up point (even though one was advertised!) The layout was very complex and I wouldnt want to get lost their Elsculator type thing was slow and Never-Ending It was smelly and old (needs renovation) toilet ...
