Advantages: Peace and lovely people
Disadvantages: The seedy image that comes with it - but isnt the true face of Thailand (honest!)

Advantages: It's got everything imaginable
Disadvantages: Not enough time to fit everything in

...Bangkok for 4 nights, and Phuket for 10. October is the end of the rainy season, so we had a bargain with the price, and as for the actual weather there, it was great. Yes we did have the occasional downpour, but they never lasted too long, and they certainly didn’t spoil our time there. The temperature was in the mid to high 80’s everyday, but it was very humid. Advantages: Beaches, People, Food, Weather, Beach sports and Diving
Disadvantages: Accommodation is roughly double the rate of other parts of Thailand, but still cheap compared to Europe and places like Hawaii. Cheaper accom can be found, but harder to find.

...and far cheaper than Hawaii, Phuket has everything for the perfect holiday experience. PHUKET (pronounced Poo-ket) If you ever go to Thailand you have to go to Phuket at least once during your stay. Advantages: the smaller beaches get you away from the hordes of tourists on Phuket island
Disadvantages: none

...town on the island is Phuket town, a rather crowded place that seems as if it were built just for tourists. Most visitors to the island end up here, so if you are looking to get away from the masses of tourists you need to go elsewhere. Phuket's beaches are not even very good when compared to the others around the island, and the snorkelling is certainly better on the western side of the island. Advantages: cheap, colouful
Disadvantages: bit sleazy, especially at night

we spent two weeks in Phuket after visiting Bangkok and Chiang Mai. It was absolute paradise! We stayed in the Patong Merlin hotel which was so luxurious by European standards. I have to say that having travelled round the island that Patong would not be my choice for subsequent trips, there are much nicer resorts. However Patong has a lot to offer. Advantages: Gorgeous scenery.
Disadvantages: Weather - eally hot!

We stayed in Phuket for a week after cruising around various places nearby. I thought it was a beautiful place and everyone seemed friendly. Our hotel was called Phuket Beach and it was absolute paradise. There were palm trees surrounding a gorgeous pool area and restaurant. I could have stayed there forever, if it wasn’t for the weather. Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: Quite far away

...stayed in the island of Phuket where the pace of life is a lot different. It is a tropical island and you hotel is likely to be on the beach. There isn't really much to do there apart from sit in the tropical paradise. Probably more popular after the film 'The Beach' this Thai island is quite remote.
