Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s were were all drinking 'Yugoslavian' - but in truth Slovenian - Ljutomer Riesling, which, I am happy to say, is today a far cry from the rather mediocre tipple it was in those days. Today more Slovenian wine is exported than is drunk in Slovenia but very little makes its way to the UK (though Waitrose are currently selling an excellent Slovenian white).
