The Place Messena sits in central Nice and is the best place to start any visit to the city. It's a open square (piazza) which hints at the areas pre-French history. Place Messena is only a short walk from the bus station, (follow the park towards the sea), and from the railway station turning left walk for only a couple of minutes you reach walk down Avenue Jean Medicin (away from the bridge/fly-over & the brilliantly named Maison du Pantalons!).
