4 Stars Pontins at Brean Sands Somerset Review with images 09/05/2008

    Advantages Advantages Great Family Entertainment

Disadvantages Disadvantages Ants in the challet

Pontins at Brean Sands Somerset Holiday Camps. No longer a hi-di-hi experience with heavy tents that falls down in the midnight rainstorm, or the dirty dancing encounter where your parents assume that you love to sit huddled in the corner whilst some drab old man stands on the stage telling ridiculous and un-funny jokes that make you wish you had stayed at the bottom of the pool and never emerged. These days holiday camps have had a vast improvement and whilst I can not comment on all of them around the country, or all of this particular camp, though let me take you to Brean Sands in Somerset ... more

5 Stars The point of Pontins..... Review with images 02/04/2004

    Advantages Advantages Cheap holday, entertainment

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Minor irritations

Have you noticed my absence for a few days? Hmm, well maybe not, but I have been away for a short break. Where have I been?...I've been to Pontins to check out the scene!! I first went to Pontins at their Blackpool site three years ago with my husband. I won a three day holiday there courtesy of my local bingo hall, very appropriately on mothers day! Eager to have a small break from family life (three very energetic kiddies) hubby and I pottered off on an all expenses paid trip to sunny Blackpool !! Despite winning on Mothers day, it was in fact September when the holiday was taken. The bingo ... more

Advantages Advantages kids had a good time anyway, kids entertainment

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as much free stuff as promised, a total dive, staff, service, etc ,etc

Just got back from a short Break at Pontins Southport with myself, boyfriend and my three kiddies so here is my review. What Is Pontins? Pontin's is a British holiday company founded in 1946 by Fred Pontin. It specialises in offering half-board and self-catering holidays with regular entertainment on offer. Accommodation is usually in the form of chalets. The company once grew to be a major operator of seaside holiday accommodation, but has now shrunk considerably. Pontins at one time had 25 resorts throughout the Uk and ireland but now only has six: Camber Sands, East Sussex Southport ... more

Advantages Advantages Are you being bloody funny?

Disadvantages Disadvantages Don't know where to start, just read the opinion.

Once again, thanks to reading another opinion, it has inspired me to write one on the same topic, this times the thanks goes to “Judgee”, and the topic I’m about to talk about is Pontin’s Prisoner of War Camps, oops sorry, Holiday Camps! Now before I start, I want to make it clear that I have only stayed at a Pontins just the once (Thankfully), so I don’t claim to know the ins and outs, the regular prices and places where you may find a Pontins Holiday Camp, I am just writing about my one and only experience. So this opinion will not include the usual information ... more

Advantages Advantages close to beach and amusements

Disadvantages Disadvantages everything else, cheap, shabby, poor

We stayed at Pontins Brean Sands near Burnham on Sea in Somerset in October 2007. We booked this through The Sun Newspaper holiday scheme, so it cost us £38 for 3 nights and a further £12 for entertainment passes. We decided to take our own bed linen to save another £6. Electricity was thrown in free as part of the deal. This would have cost us around £70 by booking direct with Pontins through the internet, for a weekend in October. We have stayed on these Sun weekends several times and we expect a basic chalet, but there is basic and then there is Pontins idea of basic! This review is my ... more

    Advantages Advantages Plenty to do

Disadvantages Disadvantages Price of the drinks!

Oh thankfully, a holiday, we decided to forgo the long drive abroad and stay in the UK. We trawled and trawled through the Internet looking for a bargain and gave up in favour of Bakers Dolphin. They cam up with a seven night stay with Pontins, we decided to ignore past reviews, worked out that the slightly higher price would offset any activities we'd have to pay for at another holiday park and book at the price of £367. Expensive? Well, the brochure was £699 for the Bank Holiday week. We chose Camber Sands in Rye because we had to go to London in the morning, going back to Bristol later ... more

Advantages Advantages At least we had a good laugh about it!

Disadvantages Disadvantages See the opinion - there's too many to list here!

I have recently read an opinion by Brianlfc about Pontins and it struck quite a chord with me. In fact, as soon as I read his title, I though I bet he went to Wall Park at Brixham and sure enough I was right. So, just in case you didn’t have enough excitement reading about Brian’s ‘wonderful’ holiday at Wall Park I thought I’d tell you about mine too! I went with my parents about eight years ago. Mom had seen an advert in the newspaper offering a five-day break at one of a variety of Pontins Holiday Camps at a very cheap rate, with coach transport included ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, cheerful, loads of netball

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tired!!! We have never won it.

Pontins, alongside Butlins, the mainstay of British family holidays, except for a few weekends a year when thousands of netballers flock to Brean Sands for a weekend of serious netball………and some quite serious drinking too. Our weekend cost around £200 (didn’t pay for it myself) which included 2, 4 berth chalets, and entrance into the tournament. After packing up the car (how much stuff can four girls take for a weekend away) and driving for a couple of hours, we arrived at the site. I used to work at this Pontin’s site and as such it was very easy to find. If you forget the directions that ... more

    Advantages Advantages Fun, fun, fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages British weather and did I mention the crocodile

Let me take you on a journey into the unknown, a world full of mystery and strange people in blue coats, a place where crocodiles dance and toilets are cracked. Yes you are about to enter the place known as….The pontins Zone.!!! Nooony-nooner-noony-nooner (vague attempt at music in written form!) Many, many years ago when I was just a small boy, I was kidnapped every year and taken to various prison camps around the country run by Pontins. Don't get me wrong, I did actually enjoy these holiday camps, but let's face it, all they really needed to be complete was a few, well placed gun ... more

    Advantages Advantages Nothing Whatsoever

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything

Have you ever awoken from a particularly bad nightmare and felt a wash of relief when you are able to tell yourself 'It was only a dream?' Now answer me this- have you ever awoken from a particularly bad nightmare and realized that could stil well be in one? Welcome to Pontins! Pontins is a well known and apparently 'award winning' holiday centre in the tradition of Butlins and British Holidays/Haven. There are many parks, situated in mostly coastal or countryside resorts in the UK (Including England and Wales) Since William Butlin opened the first Butlins resort (which I must add still stands ... more
