Advantages: Activities laid on for the kids nearly all day. Disadvantages: Way too commercial now, friendly family atmospheres all gone
The first Pontins holiday camp was opened in 1946, and there have been a total of 31 Pontins locations, ranging from the very grand Barton Hall to the small and friendly St Mary's Bay. At one point they even had adult only camps.
However the cheap package holiday has hit Pontins hard, and there are now only 8 sites remaining. These are:
* Blackpool
* Bean Sands
* Camber Sands
* Hemsby
* Pakefield
* Prestatyn Sands
* Southport
* Wall Park
... ...so I took him to Pontins on a regular basis. In fact, we were such regulars at one complex that the Bluecoats were almost part of the family.
After a break of several years, I decided to take my youngest two on a four night break to Camber sands, while their older siblings were visiting their Nan.

Advantages: Cheap Family Holiday, Kids love the place Disadvantages: Expensive Food, Bluecoats can get on your nerves
We went to Southport Pontins last September, It was one of those last minute shall we collect the £9.50 tokens from The Sun or not. We had been meaning to collect them for a while, but have never really got around to it. We finally have all the tokens, sent them off, but all the parks and dates we wanted had gone, so we decided to go with Southport Pontins after them sending a list of available parks left..

The rest of the time it advertised what was going on. The reception of the TV wasn't good, but we wasn't in most of the time so it didn't really matter

I feel its time to give a positive review of Wall Park, by someone who has been holidaying down at the camp for many years. I feel that its unfair that the bluecoats and staff has been represented badly by people who only gone down there once, never to come back, and I feel that I should type out this review to redress the balance. I paid £330 for the holiday, which £22 was insurance and bed linen, why pay that amount, well where I book has ... ...and staff that I met were friendly, courteous and always made the guests like myself feel welcome, and this carried on during the week I was there. They always provided good entertainment, either in The Fun Factory (former Manhattan Bar), or in The Queen Victoria (former Cottage Bar). It was also fun to hang out in the Queen Vic at night, to watch people sing karaoke badly like myself definitely, and just to have a good laugh with guests, bluecoats ...

...a 4 day break at Pontins in Southport and really wish I had never booked the trip in the first place. The place is filthy and should be demolished asap. I visited various holidays camps as a kid in the late 70's early 80's (and throughly enjoyed them) and can personally vouch that Pontins, Southport has not seen a lick of paint, dustpan & brush or a scouring pad since then.
The accomodation we booked was the Club apartment, apparently the best accomodation ... ...old son I witnessed 2 Pontins employees repairing a broken window approx 10 feet away. I am no health & safety expert but I would say that the area should have been cordoned off to stop littles one going near and that a ladder should have been used by the employees so they could reach the window without endangering at least their own lives. How wrong was I!! The pool is on the first floor of a large building (great design (not) - are the floors reinforced?) ...

...spent a long weekend at Pontins Southport. I visited the site 13 years ago and found it was tatty and grubby, but after being offered a free chalet as part of a Pontins marketing campaign, I decided to try the centre again and was pleasantly surprised with what I found. The site has much improved, has much more to offer now and is just perfect for families looking for a traditional holiday camp break. The chalets are in blocks and rows as they are ... ...My overall experience of this Pontins site was very good and if they could just deal with the staffing problems in the restaurants, I would rate this site as above average for a fun but relaxing family holiday. Ofcourse my holiday was free, but when concidering the Pontins tariffs compared with other holiday centres, I will definatey be paying to holiday at pontins again! ...

Advantages: The arcades Disadvantages: Not alot for teenagers to do
I went in July of this year with my dad, his girlfriend, her daughter and my sister. We decided to book Brean sands as we believed it was far enough down England that it would be good, warm weather. We were wrong it rained the whole time.
There are three types of accommodation you can choose from:
Budget - Budget apartments are suppose to be a 'low cost family getaway' and great value for money.
Classic - Classic apartments are said ... ...known for their convenience and comfort
Club - Club is the best type you can get, they are on prime landscape and are said to be a home from home. You also have priority check-in which starts at 2pm We stayed in a club apartment which I thought ought to be good however I was slightly disappointed. After opening the sliding doors my first impression was that it was quite small, the rooms just fitted two beds and a wardrobe in and the couch-bed ...

...husband and son went to Pontins at Brean sands (somerset). We all found it a very pleasant experience and would go again without a doubt.
The accomodation was okay and although by no means 5 star, it was clean and comfortable and had the basic facilities you require of a self catering holiday (table and chairs, settee, tv, fridge, oven and grill, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils).
You can go for the more expensive accomadation if you want ... ...us it was fine.
The site had several food outlets for hot snack food such as fish and chips and burgers, and a restaurant for 'proper' food. There was also a convenience store selling the basics like bread and milk etc, and gift shops for souvenirs.
The entertainment facilities were great. They operated 2 childrens clubs running activities during the day (some of these require an adult to go with the kids), and had indoor and outdoor play areas ...

I have just returned from Pontins at Brean Sands and would recommend this place to anyone..
We saw and advert in the Daily Star paper for a £7.50 clubbing holiday and you got to choose from various parks and dates. We got out first choice which was Brean Sands in Burnham-on-Sea. The dates were from 4th-7th April. 6 of us went between the ages of 20 - 27.

There are also a lot of souvenier shops. The beach is only a five minute walk away and there is loads to do along the sea front. Although we only paid £7.50 to go, I felt that we were treated just as well as if we had paid full price to go.
Our accommodation comprised of 3 rooms, 1 double, 1 room with twin beds and one room with bunk beds. There is ...

Quick review of Pontins
Never again!!!!
I will not be discriminated against for being Scottish.
I have been to Blackpool Pontins 3 times. before this time (just back Friday) it was 28 years ago. It hasn't changed and I don't think it has been cleaned since then either.
The fact that Scottish holidays start 2 weeks before the English holidays meens nothing we payed over £300 for 4 days for no entertainment at night except half an hour for the kids and bingo. Food that I woudn't feed to my animals. Someone needs to tell the "chefs" that chicken isn't cooked when it is still pink.
1 bottle of lager 1 vk and 1 pepsi wait for it £8.
Take my advice DO NOT spend hard earned money on this POW camp ...

We went to Pontins at Camber Sands 3 years ago. We vowed never ever again. This year however, I was fed up, skint and miserable. I scanned the internet and Pontins said it had refurbished all its apartments. Wow I thought. Ring them up and see 'how much'?. This I did and was told for a 4 day break (fri-Mon 3nights) it would be £106.00!!!!!Wow I thought. There was four of us, me, my partner, and our 2 boys aged 7 and 16 months. Mould up the walls in the bathroom, rotten beds ah, the list is endless. Still, we thought we would really make the most of it. As it turned out though, the bathroom door needed a 20 stone rugby player to open it, so that kept the baby out. The cot they supplied turned out to be a decrepid play pen that ...
