    THE CITY OF PRAGUE INTRODUCTION My husband and I wanted a short break sans kids, having 'done' Paris so many times we decided to try somewhere completely new to us - that place was Prague. We knew little about the Czech Republic before we went, only of its political history and 'Good' King Wenceslas.     Like a previous review. I wrote my review of Prague as a diary of the things I did while I was there. There is of course much more to see and do but this is an example of a few things I found interesting. So we've arrived in Prague! Where to first? We collect our baggage, quite a short wait... and get a mini bus to the door of our hotel for CZ 840 return which works out at twenty one pounds, which for the length of the trip and for the fact they dropped us off at the door was very cheap! Beware though if youre going to Prague, the drivers are fearless, its a scary experience! TIP: The cheapest ... more

    Seeing as this is my first op after a long spell away from Ciao, I thought that I would detail a place that I had been to on my travels. I much prefer writing about these as I can include much more info through personal experience ;-), which is often hard when reviewing a product. Besides I wont get another chance to do this for a while as the real world has replace my much loved student lifestyle!     Before I start this review I must stress that this is not going to be an in depth review that lists all the sights to see in detail along with the history etc. This info can be found in any tourist information centre in Prague, or in any guide book or on numerous websites. I have written this review to be a taster of what Prague has to offer, and my first time experience in this wonderful city. The only way to get a feel for Prague is to get out there and discover it for yourself.     Advantages Advantages A beautiful city with enough to keep you going for months. Still cheap, if you stay away from the tourist traps.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Too hot in the summer. Tourist, tourists every where!

    Border control came at dawn, after an uncomfortable night trying to sleep upright in a coach seat. The delay is always a long one, with the sun burning cold and low through the coach windows. Passengers either stay asleep, or watch anxiously for signs that the journey is about to continue. I'm always one of the watchers - I know that as soon as we get past the check point, Prague is only an hour or so away.     Prague is a magical place, a massive mix of different architectural styles and elements of past rulers dominate this lovely city. I visited Prague for 5 days on a tour of Europe. On arrival from Munich after a few days at the Oktoberfest, relaxation and chilling out was my number one priority. The train from Munich takes about 4 hours and on the approach, you get to see the real side of this country, which is a bit of a mix.     WRITTEN September 2002 INTRODUCTION Apologies for the title of this op, which is based on an old James Bond film. My wife and I visited Prague in July/August 2002. This op adds nothing to the 20 or so Ciao ops on Prague I have previously read. My description is simply a diary of our holiday a la Judith Chalmers.     I recently spent a week Prague and fell completely in love with the city. I'm not going to go into great depth about all the attractions that I visited, I don't want to bore people, so I'm just going to go over the basics (or at least what I consider to be the basics). -Travel/Transport- Transport in Prague is excellent. They have a metro as well as buses and trams so getting around the city is never a problem. For me there were three things that made the transport great, it was clean, it was efficient and it was cheap. You can buy tickets that give you unlimited travel for certain periods. I ... more

    I have recently returned from a work trip to Poland, and we managed to organise a day in Prague (we were flying home from Prague airport). We arrived in the city on an overnight train at 8am - a day of sightseeing did not seem possible, let alone enjoyable! After leaving our baggage at the hotel we set about exploring the city.
