...found a room in the Quality Central Hotel, (3 ***) Glasgow for the paltry (cough) sum of £105 B&B. Having stayed at the Clarion Hotel Clitheroe (the big brother in the Choice Hotel chain) and received a cracking deal there through laterooms.com with good quality rooms and food, I thought it would be worth a try, but hang on, that was £45 per night through laterooms.com, so maybe I could get it cheaper. My family and I booked a family room for the four of us for the night(Aug 08) through the Activehotels.com site,and like the previous reviewer,had read grand descriptions of the hotel,boasting all its supposed amenities and room facilities and design. On arrival, we were met by reception staff who admitted to "not knowing what he was doin",and he tried to charge over 4 times the rate at which was confirmed during online booking. Review of Quality Central Hotel

There are disadvantages staying in one of the oldest hotels in a city centre, the facilities can be old. If you want to use the gym and pool you do have to go down a passage that is uninviting to say the least. However the equipement is all there. The hotel is slowly modernising the rooms, and I hope they do not do more than redecorate and put in new fittings. The rooms and we were on the 3rd floor were huge. ...victorians stayed here and you could see the past eligance that they enjoyed. It was mid January the staff were freindly the restaurant provided good meals and an excellant house wine. We stepped off the train and fell into the hotel it was that close. The famous Glasgow shopping streets were minutes away. we spent a short break here had a good deal on late rooms ther rooms were spacious and the service was very good it was ideal for the shops and near to the station for travelling i would hihgly recommend this hotel for customer service and if you are going shopping in glasgow which has a great city graet shops also lots of nice cafe and other things to explore you will need more then a couple days as their is a lot to see yvonne ...
