Advantages: Amazing views, lots of adventure activities, good dining Disadvantages: A total washout if it rains - and it does, often
...Arriving in the small Queenstown airport, the compact town centre can be easily reached with a shuttle bus in 20 minutes or so. As you reach the centre you are treated to the amazing sight of huge mountains in the background, and there is something a bit surreal about this improbably photogenic picture postcard view; almost worth the trip alone. We arrived on a sunny Monday in the November early springtime, and enjoyed some sunshine in a park as ... ...a lot to do in Queenstown when it's too rainy to venture out. Unfortunately my friend had neglected to tell me this in his sales pitch and thus we were left caught unawares; I hope this review helps you in this respect should you ever find yourself there. The free underwater observatory, which is quite easily missed at its on the Queenstown Bay Jetty, down some stairs, and which we visited at least 3 times, offers some respite from the rain. You ...

Advantages: New Zealand scenery at its best Disadvantages: Some say a bit pricey!!!
...when you are a Queenstown fan.
Well, the sun doesn't shine every single day but many of the 365 sunrises over Queenstown's Lake Wakatipu are a poet's dream.
A gem in New Zealand' crown, on the 45th parallel, Queenstown is a mecca for tourists who come for all-seasons activities and I don't expect there's many who leave disappointed.
This is a town which exists, not only because of the high visitor numbers, but for honestly some of the best scenery ... ...entrepreneurs and ordinary 'kiwis' call Queenstown their home, which of course makes it a bit pricey to buy real estate and shopping prices soar seasonally.
While the outdoor adventure, tours and dining may seem to some travellers a bit expensive you can do things that don't cost a penny. Like, walking in the beautiful park which takes up all the peninsula beside Lake Wakatipu, with views back to the township and out over lake and mountain range. ...

Advantages: Beautiful scenery. Amazing experience. Disadvantages: Possibly the most frightening thing I have ever done.
Review: Parasailing in Queenstown It was the last day of our holiday in New Zealand and we were due to leave Queenstown early afternoon. Now it is important to finish a holiday in style, especially since between us we had already done whitewater rafting, jet-boating down the canyon (FANTASTIC FUN!), horse-trekking, paragliding, the Gravity Canyon Flying Fox, swing and chair, as well as the touristy things. There was nothing for it - it had to be ... ...Para-sailing and I would enjoy a leisurely cruise in the boat, admiring the view and silly people up in the air. Now the technical term for the activity is 'Paraflight', for a good reason - you fly! High! Some of you may have read my review about gliding and may already be aware of my stomach-churning fear of heights? Bear this in mind as you read the rest of this review. A short walk down to the harbour, along to the Main Pier in central Queenstown, ...

Advantages: Something for Everyone, Lots to do, Stunning Scenary Disadvantages: Not cheap, need to book accommodation in advance
...on New Zealand's South Island, Queenstown is a small, very popular tourist town located on the shores of a lake and surrounded by several mountains. The scenery here is stunning and there is so much going on that whatever your age, budget or time of year you visit, there is no chance of being bored!
Renowned as the "adventure captial" of New Zealand, there is plenty to do here to get your adrenaline pumping. Bungy jumping, sky diving, skiing / snow ... ...Many people staying in Queenstown take a trip to the beautiful Milford Sound (a long day out) and there are plenty of tour operators offering coach / helicopter trips there.
There is a wide range of accommodation options on offer from backpacker / youth hostel / camping to very upmarket hotels and self-catering apartments. Whatever your budget, accommodation is worth booking in advance. This applies all year round but is especially true in the peak ...

Advantages: A beautiful setting for doing some crazy things! Disadvantages: A long way to get to
...wanting to write especially about Queenstown based on the 'extreme' nature of the place!
When I say extreme, I mean that in many ways. Firstly, like many places in New Zealand, Queenstown is a beautiful place. Located in Otago on the South Island, Queenstown is surrounded by mountain ranges and built around the northern shore of Lake Wakatipu, and unlike many other New Zealand towns, does not look to have been purpose built along one main street. ... ...other extreme reason I loved Queenstown - it is the adventure capital of the world! ...boy was I wrong!!
Queenstown is located in the south west of the south island of New Zealand. It has a population of 7500 people and is more like a small town or large village rather than an adventure "capital!" Advantages: Mountains, Lakes and plenty of Outdoor Activity Disadvantages: None
...I visited Queenstown without even realising that it was known as one of the worlds main outdoor activity centres. Personally, I didn't go there for a 'bungy' jump or 'fly by wire' or 'skydive' or any of the other adrenalin pumping temptations. ...powder in the winter, then Queenstown is the place for you. Hidden away in the Otago region, this town is a gem in its own right. Year-round activities and festivities. An adventure is waiting for you right outside your doorstep.
