Advantages: Comfort, central, BREAKFAST Disadvantages: Walking at night
I stayed at the Radisson SAS Centre last month (July 05) with 2 friends. At £160 a night for a triple room this wasn't cheap but not too bad split between the 3 of us and it included breakfast. And of course 5 star hotels generally don't come cheap anyway! I have broken the review down under significant headings, hope this is of help to others:
ARRIVAL/RECEPTION
On approaching the hotel the first thing I noticed was its size, it took up most of ... ...looked very nice, and once we were in it looked even better! The huge atrium area has a glass roof with rooms overlooking it, this immediately created a good impression. It was very spacious with leather sofas to sit on, a garden area and waterfall feature up some steps - all creating a lovely atmosphere. There were 3 reception desks and we were checked in by a pleasant woman.
ROOM
We took the lift up to our room - even the lift was nicely decorated! ...

Advantages: Right in city centre, Great building, Friendly Staff Disadvantages: No natural ventilation to most rooms, Not for you if you don't like Red Light District
...and I stayed in the Radisson SAS in October 2002. It was my second visit to Holland, and his first. My first stay was in a place called Purmerend, about 15 minutes by car from Amsterdam. I knew I wanted to stay in the centre. I went through a number of hotel websites and found this. It was a snip (about £250 each for the week) for a five star hotel! We arrived there. It looks like a whole row of old traditional Dutch houses from the outside, but ... ...reception must be 5 storeys high, with a big glass roof. Overlooking it are the majority of rooms (balconies). There is also a landscaped balcony garden inside, which is beautiful. The rooms were very well equipped, with an iron, hairdrier, cable TV. There was loads of hanging and shelf space in the built in wardrobe. The bed was huge. There was underfloor heating in the beautiful marble bathroom, which was lovely, as the floor would have been freezing ...
