...boring. Not so the Reichstag (pronounced: raychs-tag), the German equivalent, in the course of my life I've seen it in three different varieties, if I were older, I could add a fourth. This is not so surprising, after all the building stands in Berlin, about which the art historian Karl Scheffer said in 1910, "Berlin is condemned forever to become and never to be."
The original Reichstag was completed in 1894, the architect Paul Wallot designed ... ...Federal Republic of Germany, the Reichstag lost its significance, it was restored only provisionally and used for different functions, among others as a delivery room! When I visited the Reichstag in October, a guide told us that once a visitor showed him his birth certificate with 'Reichstag Berlin' as place of birth.
When I was in Berlin in the 1970s, I did see the Reichstag in passing but didn't really look at it, it was only a bombastic building ...

Advantages: It's quiet an experience! Disadvantages: Won't enjoy it without taken along friends who keep company with you.
...until I finally visited the Reichstag building with my family. After all, the sights of your own city are the one's you visit at last! But in March 2001 we actually did it*g*
The Reichstag is where the Bundestag, the Lower House of German Parliament, holds a meeting, where discussions take place, where important decisions are made. And loads of people, tourists same as folks from Berlin, want to see it. Main attraction: The big glass astrodome (right ... ...about important occurrences in the Reichstag while its existence by foto boards on the dome's bottom. Or get an equally good prospect over Tiergarten and all the new bombastic buildings the politicans "wanted to need" (you'll wonder how much you can do without having the cash for doing it!) on the broad flat roof. That ist even better than the dome. My opinion...
There also is a restaurant, I think. But it probably is much too expensive!

...central train station is the Reichstag German Parliament.
The glass dome at the roof of the German parliament, designed by Norman Foster, gives you a bird's eye view of the city.The dome with its mirrored central funnel symbolizes that the German government keeps no secrets from its people. At the entrance of the parliament, displayed the quote Dem deutschen Volke(meaning To the German people), another indication of democracy in Germany. There is ... ...The good thing about the Reichstag is that there is no admission charge. However, be prepared to wait for at least an hour as they require you to go through security and have your bags checked. Also, it's better to visit it in the summer. There are no shelter outside the parliament and we literally waited in the cold for almost two hours!!! ...
