The Rembrandt Square Hotel is situated about 10-15mins walk from the Central Train station. We got a taxi there, but I would advise against this. Amsterdam seem to have some of the highest taxi costs that I've ever seen. The 5-10 minute journey (through some minorly busy traffic) cost us 30 euros. I'm not quite sure how the cost was justified, but I suppose we can be thankful that we got there safely when it was already quite late ... ...called "Cafe Smokey". There is a small side entrance to the right of the cafe, and then you go up a flight of stairs to the reception. The two receptionists that I saw both spoke perfect English, and their knowledge of the surrounding area was very useful.
We were booked into a double room, which cost us 90 euros for one night, but it included a delightful breakfast in one of the downstairs cafes the next morning. I'm sure that we could have got ...
