Not far from Covent Garden, I was treating this beautiful hotel as a little weekend getaway. However, upon visiting www.renaissancechancerycourt.co.uk I found that the code for a room would not work. Therefore we decided to pay a visit to the hotel itself. When we entered the hotel to book the staff were extremely helpful, but again we encountered problems. To book a room apparently you need a credit card, which is common in many major hotels. Advantages: Short walk to Covent Garden & Oxford St Disadvantages: little or no nightlife close by
Call me old-fashioned, but we knew this was going to be good when we spotted a bowl of miniature Toblerones sitting at reception.
The hotel is located in Holburn, on the edge of the business district, and is around 10 minutes walking to Oxford Circus/Covent Garden. The tube station, literally around the corner, is on the central line to Oxford Circus too.
The room was beautiful. Not minimalist like a lot of places with gimmicky 'young and hip' ... ...that in the feel of the room and not the decor or the furnishings, all of which were pristine. The marble bathroom had an incredibly powerful shower, along with a larger than average bath. The only drawback was the view - our room over-looked an office building. We did check in at around 11pm though, and as the hotel has a courtyard in the middle, as well as facing High Holburn, I think we were just relatively unlucky. All in all, a great stay. A ...
