Advantages: Breathtaking scenary, extremely nice local people always willing to help and sociallise with you, wonderful seas, organised excavations to surrounding areas available, magnificent weather. Disadvantages: It can be a bit pricy.
I visited Rhodes with my partner last summer. We stayed in the city of Rhodes which we used as a base to visit other areas of the island! A wonderful time all together. We wend around all day long and had breaks to have a swim at the amazingly blue seas of Rhodes. The food was excellent and service was great. It can be a bit pricey if you like me are a student but you can always try gyro or soublaki for your dinner which between you and me; you will ... ...relaxing vacation!
The city of Rhodes provides excellent transportation for anywhere around the island you wish to go and I do suggest taking one of the little boats to go to Lindos for the day where you will enjoy a ride with the donkeys who will take you to the top of the hill to see the castle, with wall carvings, ancient ruins and an old Byzantine church. And if you are not interested in the ruins go for the view! It's breathtaking!!!! While ...

Advantages: Plenty to do. Disadvantages: Not to safe a woman on her own.
I have been to Rhodes three times now.
The first time was in 1993 I went with six wild girls. We stayed in a little town called Ixia. The hotel was a bed and breakfast place with very nice clean rooms.
The second time I went back on my own. I think it was a bit stupid to go on my own with being blonde you get harrassed with the greek men every where you go, not that I'm being vain.
I stayed in a pension which was very cheap but basic.
I went ... ...town wasn't so far from Rhodes Town which is woth a visit.
There is the old and the new part.
There were loads of shops and little market stalls.
It was a place to watch the world go by.
If you want to see pictures please email me.

Advantages: Friendly Locals, Weather, Prices, History Disadvantages: None i experienced
...and some in the afternoons!
Rhodes is a great place for excursions. As i went on a package holiday i lazily booked mine with my tour rep. The only one i ended up going on was the Trip to Maramis in Turkey. It's a great opportunity to visit another Country (and Continent) and i would highly recommend the visit. The boat only takes an hour or so and the town is a shoppers heaven! Women should be warned of the constant bombardment of male shop owners ... ...unique - and ended up buying every other thing! Obviously things like alcohol and cigerettes are super-cheap and all of the hand made items.
A cliche but true: there really is something for everyone on Rhodes Can't wait to go back and explore more of the Greek Islands........ ...

Advantages: Stunningly beautiful, cheap and cheerful Disadvantages: Perhaps too hot for some in August
Rhodes - before I went I knew nothign about it. I ended up there after jumping on the wrong ferry out of Athens, and I spent an entire summer there. In fact, I'll be back there this year so if anybody wants to take me for a pint send me an email.
It's the business - the people are wonderfully friendly, the place has got some of the most beautiful views I have seen, the food is great, and there are loads and loads and loads of bars.
Recommende spots ... ...whole town, Rhodes old town which, aside from teh inevitable commercialism and tat on sale, is one of th emost beautiful places I have got drunk in, and Faliraki which is a spot-on night out for anybody who likes their women drunk and incapable.
The greeks are really friendly, the beer is cheap and the place is stuningly hot in August. It's also dirt cheap to fly out ther if you go last minute, so theres no excuses on that front either! ...

Advantages: Beautiful, sunny Disadvantages: busy at times
I went to rhodes last year in july, it was very very hot. At somepoints a bit too hot for me. But i loved it, great atmosphere and great surroundings. The sea is beautiful colour, a light blur, with deeper blue surrounding coves. The beach near our hotel was great allthough quite busy in mid day. The sand was a whitey yellow colour which looks great and it wasn't dirty either.
There are a couple of shops to do your essential shopping at, but not ...

Advantages: beautiful island; excellent food and drink Disadvantages: travel times weren't great
...a week long break in Rhodes staying at the Atlantica Beach Hotel in Kolymbia. It is an all-inclusive hotel costing £460 per person for a week at the end of September. For anyone who hasn't been to Rhodes are is looking for an all-inclusive break, I would recommend this without hesitation. The foos is fantastic and you can eat as much as you like. The drink flows until you can have no more and it covers everything including soft drinks, wine, beer ... ...Did a day trip to Rhodes and Lindos. Lindos is lovely but wouldn't spend more than an hour there. Not a lot to do. Rhodes Town is stunning and would recommend it to anyone staying on the island. It is the most complete medieval town is Europe and is worth a visit, even if you do nothing else whilst you are there. I would recommend the hotel and Rhodes to anyone for a relaxing holiday to get away from it all. ...
