This famous location is probably about 10 years past its best, but even so it is still one of the premier destinations in the world. The beach front is packed with grand hotels and bars that sell "Coco Gelado", or unripe coconuts that are filled with coconut milk and are the best hangover cure known to man. If you sit at one of the bars you will be hassled by traders selling everything from hats, to t-shirts, to plastic maps of Brazil, even if you ... ...the side street souvenir shops. If you fancy a taste of home you could try the tiny Shaeds bar close to The Meridien Hotel, situated down a side street (but signposted from the beach) this bar sells Guinness in cans for 10 Reais (about £3). Advantages: So much to do Disadvantages: Nothing at all
Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and very famous for the atractions you must seen. When you arive in Rio at the International Airport there is nothing to worry for even knowing that you have still to travel about 40 min to get IN the city.The first part of the city that you see is Lagoa = lagoon, very interesting with buildings around the lagoon and when the night comes is more beautiful than during the day, because ... ...looks like a big mirror.Leblon is going to the right side of Lagoa, and its where you have the uper class living in there and good restaurants,bars and don't froget to stop at Balada to take any kind of juice you can imagine and maybe a sandwich yumyum,cinemas,beach,and much more as like Flamengo Football Team that is the favorite brazilian the Jockey Club for who want to be a millionaire, i wish :-).

Advantages: good service Disadvantages: if don't give tips you don't have good service
Tips are mandatory in most parts of the United States and Europe. In Brazil it is optional, but pleases and garantees good service during your stay. Although it isn't mandatory, some satisfactory percentiles are established for specific services. To the restaurant waiter, 10% is already included in the bill. To hotel bellboys usually 1,00 real is given per volume / suitcase. For other individual or group services, the traveler decides the amount.

Rio de Janeiro is a city known all over the world for its contrasts between sea and mountains, which create its natural beauties. ...have goin aroun and about Rio by helicopter. You will be over the hills really. You can rent one and go to Corcovado, and where you can think of. You feel free because there are lots of choices, but this one is like $50 american dollars or a bit more or a bit less depending where you want to go...Don't forget your video camera, or digital camera, or any camera, you will be happy, very happy, and after it just sit down and enjoy a very light beer ...

What can you say about Rio. It has everything, sun, sea, sand, great views and of course one the worst crime rates of any major city. Should you be worried abut crime, no but would should be aware of it. I have been involved in a armed hold up (scary) and a pickpocketing (by a five year old). The hold up was at a hotel in an area that to be honest I should not have been in, the pickpocketing, on Copacabana beach. The point is that on both times I ... ...money was in my sock so the kid got nothing. The hold up was remarkable, a couple, wanted only the money from the hotel. I actually had a little admiration for the guy, he searched me, found 20 reais and gave it back to me. Super cool and oddly enough I felt less threatened than on the beach. The moral is be sensible, dont go into bad areas and carry no valuables - even cameras and you will enjoy what has to be one of the most amazing cities on earth. ...

Advantages: shopping Disadvantages: spend what you cannot
Strolling through the malls in Rio means comfort and leisure. Besides shopping opportunities there are movies, theaters, snack bars, arcades and ample and safe parking. The main shopping malls are open from 10AM to 10PM. Check them out.
Barra Shopping - Sophisticated, this mall has a medical center, eight movie theaters, bowling. Plyland and enormous variety of shops.Now they opened an extra place called New York where you have the biggest american ... ...is briliant. Sao Conrado Fashion Mall - Fashion and decoration, bookstores,art gallery and lot of space for kids, with monitored activities.

Eletrical Current - 110 volts, but some hotels have 220 volt outlets. Check at the reception desk.

...you can find postcards of Rio de Janeiro in any stationary shop, newsstand or street vendor. The local stamp and the international ones have different prices according to their destinations.
The Post Offices also offer express delivery service - SEDEX, which serves Brazil abroad. For any info you might nedd just call 159.
Normally the post office in Rio is very useful, and really works well, its not like the one in UK that you pay to send something ...

All the cooking programs teaching you in how to preprare that food and nothing compares to Churrascaria that is a restaurant where you go to eat meat, but not only one kind of meat, I mean ALL kind of meat you wish on your plate. ...all moved with him to Rio de Janeiro. I was only 3 at the time so i cant remeber much about moving there but i can remember some of the things from when i was older. I was 7 when we moved back to scotland so i experianced the Brazilian school system and learned how to speak potugese although i can remeber a word of it now. I'd love to say that at the time i treated it like it was the best experiance in my life but i was young when we moved there ... ...why my family were so excited when they came over to see us. What everyone else thought was tourist attractions was part of everyday life for me. It was just an other weekend at Corcovado or Sugarloaf mountian (I think we have a souvinear for every time we went as there is no space for anything else on the shelfs). It hasn't been until recinly when i was looking at photos of me as a child that i relised how lucky i was to have had an experiance like ...
